Venice City Tours is a bad company!

Linda_B, Mar 2026
The headphones didn't work so we couldn't hear the guide while we were on the boat. We weren't the only ones to complain. We paid for 3 islands and they only took us to 2. They would not refund the money for the third. They read the ticket but never asked if we were going to 3 islands and just herded us to the boat for 2. The guide didn't do much. We saw guides in other languages giving extensive lectures. We feel cheated by Venice CityTours. Viator was not helpful in this matter.

None

Francene_B, Mar 2026
Not very well organised and the headset didn’t work . There was a lot of waiting around unecessary and

Good day out and value for money

Helen_B, Jan 2026
This was a great day out, make sure you dress up well for the cold seas (it was December!). The trip was well organised and our guide was knowledgeable and shares lots of information. The boat ride was good and nobody seemed to be suffering from sickness. The islands were good. The trip to the lace factory is short and mainly a sales pitch. We enjoyed a panini at a local cafe and this was good

A lot of travel time. 15...

Louise_D, Dec 2025
A lot of travel time. 15 minutes watching a glass blower and a 5 minute lace making demonstration does not a tour make.

Expectations were met....

Diana_G, Oct 2025
Expectations were met. The guide was very nice, very helpful. The only thing is that it was hard to hear with the headphones.

Islands tour

Mary_O, Oct 2025
We went to 3 different islands around the Venice area, each with it's own charm. The tour guide was great and gave us history and interesting information abourlt the area and landmarks.

A great day

Laurie_S, Sep 2025
A wonderful day. Lots of time to shop and eat. Our tour guide was wonderful. A good way to see both of the islands

Good for first timers to Venice

Suzy_H, Aug 2025
A fun experience for those who have never been to Venice. Tour guide was nice and very informative. Filled the group in on local culture.

Venetian islands

John_G, Nov 2024
Great way to see the outer Venetian islands. Glass blowing, lace making, good food, lots of shopping!

Nice tour

Daniel_L, Oct 2024
Burano was my favourite of the 3. Murano glass blowing was interesting. Could do without going to Torcello.

Great company. Average content

Karen_H, Oct 2024
This company that did the booking was excellent. They are really organized, their tour guides were excellent, and everything was on time. They had excellent instructions on where to go and when to be there. However, this tour was disappointing overall. I was very excited to go to Murano because I knew there is a very interesting history with regard to glassmaking and Venice. We got a very brief and minimal history lesson about glass on the way to the island. We were taken to a glass factory and this is where I expected to get a lot of really good information about glass making in Venice and its history, etc. However, we were given about a 10 minute, minimal demonstration of glass blowing and making of a solid glass figure. I’ve been to Greenfield Village in Michigan and visited their glassmaker and got a much more extensive demonstration about the art of glass making. After this very minimal and not very interesting demonstration, they took us to their showroom with very expensive glass, and I felt the sales people were somewhat high-pressure. Additionally, the island is not attractive, just filled with a bunch of touristy shops. The second island, Murano, was a nicer island to visit. Again, we had a very minimal, somewhat lame demonstration about lace making. It is a quaint island and it was lovely to walk around , and take pictures, but if you’re not into shopping, this is not the place to go. Because we didn’t get much history or information on this tour, I think we would’ve been better served, and we would have saved a lot of money if we had just taken public transport to Burano, walked around for an hour or two, and then taken the public transport back to the city center of Venice. If you like shopping, this may be your trip. But if you are looking for some good information about glassmaking and lace making on these two islands, don’t bother.

We're tourists, not commodities.

Brian_T, Sep 2024
Being treated like a commodity. The start point was, once again, incorrect; we were informed it was pier 3 which evolved into a pier 2 departure. The guide was rather dismissive of us when we went to show her the ticket; she did not engage or show any interest in the party; given that Burano Island was a place of similar areas, she failed to give us a meeting point, instead telling us to meet at the boat in just over 90 mins which included a chance to get some form of lunch, in, I hasten to add, crowded places. Consequently, we were delayed, our experience wasn't fulfilled and despite being only three minutes late at the departure point, the boat left without us! Fortunately, we found our way back to the main island by public transport. We just wonder if she even knew because we failed to see her count us off or onto the boat. The guide had very little care, little concern, was cold in her demeanour and it seems she didn't want to be there. We also wish to point out that her narrative when pointing out places was inaudible.

Poor

Joanna_T, Sep 2024
I was most disappointed. First of all the heading reads ISLANDS of the lagoon tour, but we only went to Murano.. I wanted to see Burano AS WELL. How misleading. Second the guide could not be heard over the noise of the motor of the taxi. Third we had five minutes watching the glass blowing and hour and a half expected to buy from the glass shop. I have really enjoyed Viator tours before but am not happy after this one.

Really good experience

Jeannette_V, Sep 2024
I enjoy going in this tour. Every island has diffent trades that I learned many things from it and I love to shop and see the different styles of their home and building. It was a great experience.

Great trip and value for money

Michelle_J, Aug 2024
Great trip, definitely worth it to see murano glass and the colourful houses in Burano. Torcello seemed a little pointless.

A must do!

Ivette_C, Aug 2024
Sara was wonderful very informative and showed her love of Venice in our tour. boat ride was refreshing and beautiful.

Memorable Journey

Santhosh_J, Aug 2024
Very Professional guide. Explained in good way and with much detail. Both the places are good to visit places

Murano day trip

Kerrie_C, Jun 2024
A wonderful trip to the island of Murano with a demonstration of glass blowing. The boat ride was a nice change of pace from walking around the city.

Lovely day trip out

Karen_S, Jun 2024
Lovely day trip out really good value for money. Particularly like the glass blowing demonstration. Staff helpful and polite.

Good trip to see all 3 islands

Manda_S, May 2024
We had time to experience all three islands. We enjoyed the murano glass event and visiting the various shops on the island. The lace in Burano was beautiful! We picked up several gift items and enjoyed lunch there. The park in Torcello right as you exit the boat is a great spot to grab a drink and:*} snack and just sit and enjoy the island. There could be a better check in and boarding experience for the large group. We basically had to walk in a crowded group to the boat. Why not let groups know as they check in which dock to meet at and allow us to form a boarding line? Overall a great trip and we would do this again.

Free style tour

DEBRA_I, Apr 2024
Although the weather was cool, rainy, & windy when we left on the cruise, the sun finally came out, just enough to enjoy walking on the islands. The nice part about the tour was we were able to walk around freely and explore without constantly being in a big group. The glass blowing demonstration was amazing and so was watching one of the local store owners make lace. There were several shops and restaurants to explore. The scenery was fantastic. We certainly enjoyed our tour.

Wonderful trip but Torcello

Robert_D, Apr 2024
Burano was the highlight of the trip. Torcello should be switched to the first island followed by Murano and Burano as the final destination

Better to go by waterbus

Melanie_W, Feb 2024
The islands are beautiful well worth seeing, but the trip not worth. Take the water bus and don't rush. There was no toilet working on the boat. The glass blowing factory changed nearly twice as much for items as you could buy in any shop in Venice. Paid extra to book here I get this app needed to make money but that should come from the providor. Not a great experience

Disappointed

Diana_F, Oct 2023
The onboarding for the boat was complete chaos. There were so many people there we needed to take two boats, we got to the front of the line to board the first boat and then we were told the boat was filled and needed to get back in line and we were now at the end of the line. The crew had no idea we would need two boats… if they knew they should have split us in to 2 groups.

The tour feels a little...

Almero_G, Oct 2023
The tour feels a little rushed, especially on Murano. Would like to have spent a little more time there. Burano is something special.

Response from Host, Nov 2023

Thanks for the review. We take note of your personal comment to improve our product. Regards.

The Torcello visit was...

Daniel_J, Oct 2023
The Torcello visit was much less interesting as the one of the 2 other islands. On those islands the time offeted to visit is rather short. Maybe a 2 island tour lasting 6 hours would be better

Best trip for the money, picturesque island of Burano!

Charles_S, Oct 2023
This six hour tour was an incredible trip, and it was so reasonably priced! The boat crew was extremely punctual, and the boat ride was enjoyable. The most memorable stop on the trip was the island of Burano with its numerous pastel and brightly colored buildings throughout the island and along the canals. It was a photographer’s dream!

A little hit and miss

Chelsea_N, Sep 2023
as people have said previous, this tour does get massively booked up, and there is a very tight squeeze onto the huge boat. on the boat, i appreciate the tour guide is trying to translate in many different languages, but it is that rushed, that by time you hear the information in your language, shes already gone past half the details so you miss it. the glass watching part is fantastic, albeit, they had to squeeze a huge amount of people into a room that isnt adequate to fit that many to watch. i felt like the last island of torcello was a bit of a meh sort of visit, i would have much rather had a longer time in burano as there was much more to see and after getting something to eat in burano, theres not much time to do anything else. i feel like the tour would benefit more if they put the time of torcello into burano and got rid of torcello, or if they extended the duration of the tour by maybe an extra hour or two for burano. overall was a really good day especially at murano and the time spent in burano, but do feel like the numbers need to be reduced slightly and the times extended :)

Response from Host, Sep 2023
