Not an easy process or...

Not an easy process or experience. The tickets worked for us eventually but we were expecting a self guided experience with time to roam, and were given tickets to a guided tour. We did not have enough time to follow the guide, so went on our own anyway. I’m sure we paid a higher price for a guide but if you don’t want it make sure you’re not paying for it. After checking in and leaving our guide we had to rush through the crowds to get a brief glimpse of the Sistine Chapel. The ticket process is very confusing and requires several different checkpoints to get where you’re going. This provider sent the tickets for the first entry point an hour prior to our timed entry to a cell phone number we did not have international access to. I’m not sure why we couldn’t get them well ahead of time. We then thought we could go thru the turnstiles to enter the museum right away, but were directed back to the entrance to get another different ticket for our GUIDED tour to join. Like I said, very confusing and inconvenient among all of the chaos around the Vatican. I would recommend planning your ENTIRE day around this experience with plenty of time to shuffle slowly in a wave of people taking selfies with every statue and painting they see. I will book a private guide next time in the middle of the non-tourist season so I can take a full step and not kick someone’s heel. It is a beautiful place with amazing sights that are well worth seeing but I recommend doing quite a bit of research to get a good experience.

Hi Dear customer, you booked skip the line entry ticket but we gave you skip the entry with Guide. so something plus. but your are not happy with that !!!. we sent you Tour pass with all necessary instruction through Viator message center and through your whatsapp number more than one week before. if you did not get, you have to contact us day before or almost one hour before. you did not do this. you call us just at the visiting time. fortunately we could sent you tickets instantly. now you are giving allegation to us. you are the first person who is giving us less than 5 star review.........that means you are questioning about the vatican visiting process !! i hope you will understand our service when you do tour with other operator. thank you

Changed my reservation time and then refused to refund me

They called me and said they had to change my reservation time from what I initially opted for when purchasing. They forced me to either chose yes or no in the moment, otherwise if i said no to the time change, they said they would have to fully cancel my reservation. I realized later that day that I couldn't do the time they made me switch to, but because I said "yes" which I literally had no option (otherwise they would cancel my tour which i booked far in advance to reserve a spot), they refused to give me a refund. Horrible, horrible customer service.

Summer wrong time of year to visit

It was like walking through an Ikea store. Would recommend doing in Spring or Fall to really enjoy. Allow your selves 2-3 hours. The service from Viator was great, just the masses in Rome in July, didn’t work well for us.

Great Museum- not a skip the line ticket

The museum was excellent though the Sistine chapel was closed. However, this was NOT skip the line. We still had to wait in line for 45 mins even with our advance tickets. Plan to be there early and to wait.

Horrible Customer Service

This is a horrible customer service experience from the beginning. With the unfortunate passing of the Pope I immediately contacted the tour operator and he replied that he will not know more information until it gets closer. The tickets for both Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel were sent, however only the Museum was open. This defeated the whole purpose of purchasing this ticket. I spent a lot of money for only 1/2 of the tour and the operators did not attempt to correct the situation. This tour should have been taken down or not advertised on Viator as it is manipulative and dishonest. Please save your money and book with a more reputable tour operator

we informed all participants from 28 April. Vatican museums authority decided to close the Sistine chapel for conclave. this is for all participants of the Vatican museums not only us. all customer of us understand except this customer !!!!. He wanted refund after visit the Vatican museums. but we payed full ticket from Vatican+Sistine chapel. Vatican does not offered any partial refund that's why we refused his refund request. thanks

The entry time was unexpectedly changed which upset our schedule but not a big problem. There was confusion in the lobby after entering and I would have appreciated more instruction. Huge problem was that the Sistine was closed. And I did not understand that St Peters Square was not accessible on my tour.

Beautiful museums. No issues. Make sure to download your ticket or if you have to meet a guide beforehand it’s usually across the street from the entrance on the steps. Mine was a self guided tour so only needed to download the ticket.

Pre paid for the tour. They contacted me the day before when I am already in Rome to change the time and then never get back to me with the new time. Totally missed the Vatican museum and Sistine chapel for my trip because of this horrible company. Horrible communication. Not trustworthy. Go elsewhere....

Enforce the silence requirement in the Sistine Chapel. Not enough bathroom availability. Ear buds for the self-guided audio tour. Everyone working there is very patient, friendly and helpful. Overall a wonderful experience.
