On this Arctic adventure, you’ll visit a real Sámi camp, get up-close and personal with an adorable herd of reindeer, warm up with steamy beverages in a lavvu (Sámi tent), and sink in the scenery of the Lyngen Alps. We went on a day that was dumping thick beautiful snowflakes everywhere and it was magical! The reindeer are really friendly and sweet. It was awesome to learn a little bit about Sami culture too. Our guides were all amazing and kind. I highly recommend this experience!

The actual feeding of the reindeer was over very quickly. Very little background to the Sami culture was provided. The reindeer stew was bland and stodgy.

We are sorry to hear that this was your experience during our tour. However, we were quite surprised by your comment regarding the reindeer feeding, as we usually receive feedback that guests feel they spend a generous amount of time inside the enclosure feeding the reindeer.
Your feedback has been shared directly with our camp manager, who oversees the Sami guides and cultural presentations. We have been informed that the full presentation was given. That said, we understand that it may have felt brief due to the tour schedule we are required to follow, and we apologize if this affected your experience.
Regarding the reindeer stew, please note that this is a traditional Sami dish prepared according to local and Norwegian taste preferences. Guests are informed of this in advance, and additional seasoning is always available should they wish to adjust the flavor. The primary focus of the tour is the Sami culture and the reindeer experience rather than a fine-dining meal.

Great experience feeding the reindeer. They even offer feed refills if you are quick to go get one before they run out. Transport to and from well organised and the meal was very generously sized too

Wow! An experience that we will never forget! Feeding and interacting with the reindeer was so much fun. Lunch and learning about Sami culture after was also amazing. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful.

We had a great time. It was a lot of fun to feed and pet the reindeer. The setting was beautiful, with snow-capped mountains all around. The guide gave a great introduction to Sami culture and the meal was fantastic. We were able to sit with people from a couple of different countries, as well.

Honestly a little expensive, but the tour checked all the boxes it promised - a bus charter + reindeer feeding experience + Saami culture properly explained by a real Saami guide + authentic reindeer stew (which tasted way more gamey than any restaurants/cafes that I tried the stews in) + a bus charter back
I had a fun time feeding the reindeers. But if you are a solo traveler, make sure you think of creative ideas to take your own photos! :)

A wonderful experience learning about Sami culture! The hosts were welcoming and happy to share their experiences with us. Interacting with the Reindeer was a special treat and a lot of fun! Highly recommend doing this to experience an important part of the culture of the area.

We had a wonderful time on this trip. The bus journey was smooth. The reindeer feeding was very wholesome and there was a fire to warm your hands nearby. We booked on to the reindeer sledging on arrival as an extra, which was 100% worth it even in the snow! The Sami culture talk was incredibly interesting, and it was great to try the traditional meal of reindeer stew.

Excursion was well organized and executed. Drive was about one hour through some beautiful scenery covered with fresh snowfall. The Sami guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. We left with a much better understanding of the Sami culture.

They took us to the reindeer farm in two buses.
First we were able to unload our unnecessary things in the lavvu. Tea, hot chocolate, coffee and a little cake were already prepared on the table.
Our guide explained the program, what time we would have dinner, how long and how we could feed the reindeers. One of a kind experience, we adored it. If you were cold, you could go back to warm up at any time, or you could do it outside by the fire.
Everyone we met was fantastically kind and smiling. They were happy to answer our questions.
We would like to thank Kristian for his knowledge and presentation and stories about his people, the Sami. We left with wonderful experiences and knowledge. The speech in the Sami language at the end of the program made my eyes water.
I am so grateful to have been there.

Sami culture and reindeer, an excellent day. Our guide walked us through the needed safety protocols and we were able to feed the reindeer. We were then feed reindeer soup and given cultural information and awareness of the Sami people.

Collected on time and given an itinerary for the day , snow suits and boots provided free of charge if required. Had the option of booking sledding on the day which was great. Would highly recommend and the talk with Ayli in Samo culture was very interesting.

Good to do when in Tromso … but we couldn’t do Reindeer sledge ride (however later did a husky ride in Kirkenes) … location was beautiful… Reindeers were well maintained… food was good… but overall it didn’t feel that special

It was a wonderful experience for the whole family to feed the reindeers, instructions on safety was clear. The lady who did the morning Sami experience talk on Dec 31, 2025 made the experience very insightful; and she patiently shared her experience and answered questions. Highly recommended

Reindeers were the cutest and the meal that was provided was really good! I do wish the tour was a bit more organised in the sense of more annoucements on each checkpoint of the activity as it seems that sometimes travellers were unsure when the next activity would be happening. Otherwise, great trip (the drive was stunning!)

It’s an ok tour, interesting learning about Sami culture but not at £109. Really this is at most a £60 tour. Poor value for money

The weather may not have permitted looking for whales or auroras, but it was perfect for seeking reindeer . . .
I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the reindeer and learning about the Sami people. The bus can pick you up in front of the Radisson Blu and return you there at the end. The reindeer will be quite happy to see you and accept some of their food from you. And I appreciated the introduction to the history and lives of the Sami people. I recommend the experience.

The pickup was a little chaotic but it is a short bus ride. The Sami hosts were great. Feeding the reindeer was fun and they weren’t overly aggressive. The snacks, meal and Sami culture presentation were all fantastic!

Bart and the team were absolutely amazing. Even though the night was not looking particularly good, they went above and beyond at every single stop and turn to make sure that we saw the northern lights. They took us to four different locations and traveled almost all the way to Finland and we did not get home till 2:30 in the morning, which was way more than what we had paid for. we were so lucky that we got to see you not only an amazing showing of the lights, but also full dancing lights on display above us!!! The cloud maps were dreary, but that did not stop us from having the perfect night. we had such a pleasant time and thoroughly enjoyed all of the tour guides. They were super helpful and educated us on how to best set up our camera and even the food was delicious. The soup was so good. It felt like it even deserved. It’s on you. The minivan that we were in was super spacious and comfortable, and the thermal suits and shoes they provided were a very nice added bonus. Absolute memory, we will never forget.

The reindeer are in a big pen.. nice to feed them for 15 minutes. Then you sit for an hour or so with tea in the tent. Later there is soup and info about saami culture. The bus was late to pick us up and we waited in the cold rain 20 minutes. The trip was ok, nothing special. If you have time maybe go but don’t go out of your way. It is probably more picturesque in the winter.

What a fantastic experience! We went as a family with our 9 and 5 yr olds and they loved feeding the reindeer. The stew and bread and coffee and tea for lunch were hot and delicious. Hearing about the Sami traditions and culture from John Michael (English version of his name) shed light on something we knew very little about.
