The tour was amazing! Our Guide Linda and the driver Adam did a fantastic job. Linda knew the best places and we saw amazing northern lights. She took amazing pictures as well! For the cold we were provided with special overalls, which helped a lot. The minibus was very good and comfortable. Tour could not have been better and we loved it!

Awesome evening particularly having small group. Driver and guide lovely and very experienced. Having suits was great. Would recommend sock/hand warmers. Feet with 2 socks were a bit cold but warmed up in the bus. So pleased we had a clear evening and so only needed to drive an hr out of Tromso. Driving time depends on finding cloud free area.

We had a fantastic Northern Lights trip from Tromsø with Blue Puffin and would definitely recommend it, small group tour def worth the extra. Linda was our guide and Maciek our driver. Everything was really well organized, with clear and quick communication both before the trip and on the day. They told us exactly where to meet, what to bring, and even asked about food allergies in advance, which was great. The group was small (about 14 people) and we traveled in a comfortable minibus. We drove out toward the Finland border chasing the Northern Lights due to lot of clouds and ended up finding them in a beautiful, clear spot by a frozen river, surrounded by snow and trees where we got to even see the lights dancing! Was amazing! After watching the lights, taking photos, enjoying the views, Linda had a fire going for us, chairs and we got to chat with others in the group, and learned a bit about the local culture, it felt very relaxed and personal. We were grateful for the thermal suits provided and felt very well prepared for the cold. They also provided warm soup, hot juice, tea, and cookies, which was really nice and helped keep everyone warm after being in the cold. We really enjoyed the banter, the shared excitement when the lights appeared, and the overall atmosphere of the group. Linda was a great guide! very friendly, easy to talk to, and excellent at getting everyone involved. She also took some really nice photos of the lights and portraits with the lights in background for us. Overall, my wife and I were very pleased, had a great time - highlight of our trip.

Andrea_M, Mar 2026
Great excursion - Michael is a very knowledgeable guide, Joan a great photographer and Monika a very safe driver. It was an experience m, even though the aurora was not so strong. See you next time!

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Dear Andrea, thank you so much for your lovely feedback 😊 We are glad you enjoyed the excursion and that Michael, Joan, and Monika made the experience special for you. Even if the aurora was not at its strongest, it’s wonderful to hear you had a memorable time. We would be delighted to welcome you again on another adventure in Tromsø ❄️

Northern lights Tromso

Lindsey_H, Mar 2026
Guides were wonderful, the northern lights were amazing, it was a great trip and we were here on a Viking cruise. Only complaint was there needs to be more toilets, but very happy!

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Dear Lindsey, Thank you so much for your kind words, we’re really happy to hear you enjoyed the experience. We truly appreciate your note about the toilets. As we often travel into remote areas and nature to find the best conditions for the Northern Lights, facilities aren’t always available along the way. That said, we always make sure to stop when possible, and nature itself can offer a quiet moment when needed. We’re wishing you a wonderful day! Warm regards, Your Blue Puffin Team

Fun evening

Cathy_F, Mar 2026
No restrooms avail, challenging for females. Great guides, dinner was great. Would love to do again if bathrooms available

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Dear Cathy, thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are really happy to hear that you enjoyed the evening, the guides, and the dinner. 💙 You are absolutely right that restroom availability can be a challenge on Northern Lights tours. Since we travel to remote areas far away from city lights, facilities are unfortunately not available at most of our viewing locations. The Arctic wilderness gives us the dark skies we need for the aurora, but it also means we sometimes have to be a little creative and adventurous with comfort. That said, we truly appreciate you mentioning it, and we always try to make the evening as comfortable as possible for everyone in the group. We would love to welcome you again under the Arctic sky one day. Hopefully with the Green Lady dancing for you again. Warm greetings from Tromsø Blue Puffin Team 🐧💙

Eunyoung_O, Feb 2026
The experience was perfect. Johan was great and was very good about explaining things and letting us know what to expect. The soup and hot juice was also delicious. This small group tour feels more personal. I would definitely recommend a small group tour especially for the northern lights tour. The minibus can get places that a big tour bus will not be able to go. The lights were so perfect! And so bright! We only had to drive 1 hour and we were able to pull off and see them. I can't say enough about this tour. This has been a great experience!

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Thank you for this lovely feedback, we really appreciate it 😊 YES - minibus experience cannot even be compared with the big bus one! Glad to hear the small group, the drive, and the whole atmosphere worked so well for you. And finding the lights after just an hour on the road… that’s a rare night out. Joan will be very happy to read this. Thanks for joining us! Blue Puffin Team 🐧💙

Fantastic and fun!!

Excellent experience chasing the northern lights! Our guide was amazing and driver excellent in the snow. They made sure we saw the lights every chance we got and they were spectacular!

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Thank you - thank you - thank you!

Very nice tour and timing

Johnpaul_L, Feb 2026
The tour was nice. Guide was experienced and allowed us to see as much of the northern lights as possible!

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Billion of thanks for your kind words!

Excellent family run company who know their stuff!

Kerri_H, Feb 2026
A long night but filled with such fun, positivity and enthusiasm. Great group. Lots of photos. Tasty home cooked food. Knowledgeable guide who gave us so much information - thank you Linda. Great confident driver who worked really well with Linda. And we saw the lights in about 4 or 5 different locations thanks to Linda’s persistence and excitement! We loved it!

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Hi Kerri 😊 Thank you very much for your thoughtful review, we truly appreciate it. We noticed you rated the experience 4 stars, and as we always aim for a 5-star experience, we would genuinely love to understand if there was anything that could have made the evening even better for you. Your feedback helps us improve and refine what we do. Thank you again for choosing our small family team, and we hope to welcome you back one day. Warm regards, Blue Puffin Team

Ahhh this is exactly why we do what we do! You have no idea how much energy messages like yours give us. This is our FUEL! We run on Arctic air… and reviews like this 😄 It means a lot that you felt the intention behind everything. And honestly, when guests notice the small details, that’s when we know we’re sharing the night with the right people. We’ll keep your words close. Thank you! Come back anytime. The Arctic sky loves reunions. 💙

Julia_P, Feb 2026
Nature didn't help. We barely saw a glimpse of Northern light. The guide tried very hard to find a place for us to see it through his camera. We wished it was better but how can we win the nature.

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Dear Julia, thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We truly understand how disappointing it can feel when the Northern Lights only make a shy appearance. When you travel all this way, you naturally hope for a magical sky moment. We are really glad to hear that our guide did everything possible to find clear spots and used the camera to help capture what was visible. On some evenings, the aurora activity is simply very weak, and even with driving, patience and experience, nature decides how much she wants to reveal. Thank you for joining us and for your kind words about the effort that was made. If you ever find yourself back in Tromsø, we would love another chance to chase the green lady with you under hopefully stronger activity. 💙🐧 Warm greetings Blue Puffin Team

Jolene_C, Jan 2026
Had the most wonderful time with Linda (our guide) who is very fluent in German and English. There was a REALLY low chance of catching the lights but Linda was experienced and we were so blessed to be able to watch the lights dance in the sky. This tour comes with warm soup and blueberry tea - super yummy. 10/10 recommend!

Response from Host, Jan 2026

Aww, this makes us so happy to read! 🥹 We’ll pass your kind words straight to Linda, she’ll be smiling ear to ear. Even on “low chance” nights, magic sometimes decides to show up!

Amazing bucket list experience

Response from Host, Jan 2026

Dear Regina, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lovely review and for your kind words. It truly means a lot to us. We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed this special bucket list experience and that the small group setting, the suits and our guide and driver helped make the evening comfortable and memorable for you. You are absolutely right, good socks and hand warmers can make a big difference, especially on colder nights, and we are glad to hear that warming up in the bus worked well for you. How wonderful that the skies were clear and that the Northern Lights showed themselves so close to Tromsø. Those evenings are always extra magical. Thank you again for your recommendation and for choosing to spend your Arctic night with us. We would love to welcome you back anytime. Warm greetings from the Arctic Blue Puffin Team 💙🐧

Fantastic experience with excellent guide

Jones_C, Jan 2026
Long long away from city centre but it let us enjoying a fantastic screen of Aurora full in the sky. Warm to hot soup and sweet hot drink protected us from cold low temperature (it was much important for us living in a place without snow). With experience & friendly tourist guide, our first night in Tromso became wonderful & memorial.

Response from Host, Jan 2026

Thank you very much for your lovely message. It really means a lot to us that you took the time to write and share your experience. We’re happy to know that your first night in Tromsø felt special and that you felt well taken care of along the way. Thank you again for choosing us, and we hope the rest of your time in the north was just as memorable. Warm wishes from all of us at Blue Puffin Family!

We hope you take many beautiful memories of Tromsø and the Green Lady with you wherever you go next. Warm greetings from the North Blue Puffin Team 💙🐧

Highly Recommended. Fantastic Service.

Haziati_A, Dec 2025
An amazing tour guide who truly went above and beyond — checking more than 10 meteorological maps on a night with only a 0–12% chance of aurora sightings, just to give us an unforgettable two hours of dancing Northern Lights. The tour itself was fantastic, with comfortable bus transport and a knowledgeable guide who shared not only insights about the Northern Lights, but also fascinating information about the Nordic countries. He even helped us capture beautiful photos to commemorate this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Truly unforgettable.

Amazing experience! As many other tours have gone, we had to drive all the way to Finland, but the bus was super comfortable and our guide and driver were the best! I highly recommend Blue Puffin!

Find a different company

Anthony_S, Dec 2025
The guide for our trip, Diego was unprofessional. He started out by being 15 minutes late, making the group wait and being late out on a night that was very crowded with other tour groups getting to the good spots for Aurora watching first. on the way he didn’t seem to have any knowledge of the Aurora phenomenon, and could only provide a basic lecture on photography. When it came time to put on the thermal suits, we were left on our own with no assistance from him or the driver to get the suits on. This and other aspects of basic courtesy and hospitality were not met by our guide. We wound up seeing a faint Aurora, but most of the group were disappointed. Perhaps most annoying for me was this trip was advertised as a warm dinner provided. all we got to eat in Artic wearher conditions was a thin bowl of vegetable soup and a slice of stale bread. My family was hungry for the rest of the evening in the bitter cold. There are many other well qualified operators in the Tromsoe area. We had had a fantastic experience with a different company the night before. I recommend not choosing this group.

Response from Host, Dec 2025

Hello Anthony, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to read that this experience did not meet your expectations. At the same time, it is important for us to clarify several factual points and to stand firmly for our team and the way we work. First and foremost, we want to be very clear on one point: we stand for our guides and drivers. Blue Puffin is a small, family-run company, and our team members are not interchangeable service staff — they are highly trained, experienced professionals who care deeply about their work and about our guests. Publicly questioning their integrity and professionalism in this manner, especially without raising any concerns during the tour itself, is deeply disrespectful. Regarding timing: the tour did not depart 15 minutes late. Our guide and driver arrived at the meeting point on time. As with all our tours, a short window is needed to welcome guests, check attendance, distribute equipment, and ensure everyone is ready before departure. Our Northern Lights tours are not a race against other groups, and we do not rush our guests. The location chosen that night was Keino, in Finland, where we arrived among the first groups. The fact that other operators later gathered in the same area confirms that the location was chosen correctly, as it was one of the few places where auroral activity appeared. Regarding guiding and knowledge: Diego is a highly experienced Arctic professional, with many years of work as an expedition leader on Hurtigruten, formal Arctic guide education, and fluency in six languages. His knowledge of the Arctic, weather systems, and the Northern Lights is extensive and well established. We regret that you perceived his explanations differently, but questioning his professionalism is neither accurate nor fair. We welcome constructive feedback; personal attacks are not something we accept or support. About assistance and hospitality: our driver did assist guests with thermal suits, as is standard on our tours. If additional help, food, or anything else had been needed, our team was available throughout the evening. The guide clearly explained in advance that a homemade soup would be served and also informed guests about the opportunity to purchase additional snacks during a stop if they felt it might not be sufficient. At no point during the tour did you express hunger, request more food, or ask for additional assistance. We cannot respond to needs that are never communicated, but we would never refuse help if asked. Regarding the Northern Lights, weather, and route decisions: we operate well above the Arctic Circle, in one of the most complex weather regions in Europe. Tromsø lies on the coast, surrounded by sea and steep mountains, with rapidly changing microclimates. Forecasts here are often unreliable and can change every 20–30 minutes. For this reason, our route decisions are made shortly before departure using a combination of real-time weather data, cloud cover models, local knowledge, and experience — not generic weather apps. When conditions suggest it, we drive long distances and even across borders, as we did on this night. Operating safely in the Arctic also requires extensive regional knowledge and professional driving experience. Road closures, rapidly changing conditions, and avalanche risk are realities we assess continuously. These factors are always considered alongside the aurora forecast when choosing the direction of the tour. Seeing the Northern Lights is never guaranteed, and this is communicated transparently before and during every tour. That said, on this particular night, the Northern Lights were clearly visible, in line with the solar activity present during that night, and this is documented in the photographs taken during the tour, showing the aurora above our guests. We take all feedback seriously and continuously review our tours and procedures. At the same time, we believe it is important that feedback is grounded in facts and shared respectfully. For this very same tour, we also received additional feedback directly by email from other guests, praising both the experience and the guide which reflects a more balanced picture of that evening. Our responsibility is not only to our guests, but also to the professionals who represent Blue Puffin in the field every night. We wish you all the best in your future travels. Blue Puffin Team

5 Stars Out of 5

ddsuren5, Dec 2025
We did our tour on Wednesday, December 17th, 2025 with the amazing Joan, who did an excellent job finding the Northern Lights for us as well as being a fantastic, knowledgeable tour guide. We really appreciated all that he did and the countless photos he took of us as well. He also dropped us off at our hotel Skaret by Vander so that was greatly appreciated as well. Overall, a 5/5 experience. Will definitely come back to go again to Tromsø with this tour!

Fine but wait to book.

Mercy_A, Dec 2025
This was ok. Guides were knowledgable and did their best but I think the company should have cancelled given how cloudy it was. Overall, I would recommend checking the weather predictions yourself and waiting to book day of instead of booking weeks in advance

Response from Host, Dec 2025

Hello An, Thank you very much for sharing your feedback and for joining our tour. We’re glad to hear that you found our guides knowledgeable and committed, they truly do their best every night under very challenging and ever-changing conditions. We would like to kindly clarify a point about the weather, as this is often misunderstood. Cloudiness and snowfall are the normal state of the weather in the Arctic, not the exception. Completely clear skies are actually quite rare here and may occur only a few days per month, if we are lucky enough. Due to Tromsø’s geography, being located on an island, surrounded by mountains and the sea — cloud cover is very common, and weather conditions can change dramatically every 20–30 minutes. For this reason, cancelling tours based solely on cloud forecasts is not realistic. Instead, our approach is to actively look for clearer skies by using live satellite imagery and real-time cloud movement data, often driving far and sometimes across regions to find openings in the clouds. We also always make it very clear in advance that weather is something we cannot control, and that seeing the Northern Lights is never guaranteed. To increase the chances, we generally recommend joining more than one tour if possible, which many guests successfully do. We truly appreciate your perspective and your recommendation, and we hope your time in the Arctic still left you with memorable moments. Warm regards, Blue Puffin Team

Finding the lights

Elisabetta_C, Dec 2025
We had a low chance of success, but our guide was determined to find the lights for us, and he did! It can be cold out there, so be prepared.

We had a great time. Our tour guide Linda was super friendly, knowledgeable, and did her best to find the northern lights for us. It was a cloudy night so unfortunately, we were not able to see them but Linda stopped at so many different spots to see if anything was visible. We even drove into Finland to try and get a glimpse of something. Shout out to our driver Adam. Linda seems to really love her job and it shows. Even though we were unable to see the lights, she made our trip interesting and fun. The bonfire and treats we had were great. It was something I never thought I would do, be out in the middle of nowhere in the snow, eating soup and talking with strangers. I cannot recommend this tour more, and if you get Linda as your guide, consider yourself lucky.

Response from Host, Dec 2025

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a beautiful and thoughtful message, it truly means a lot to all of us 💙 We’re really happy to hear that, even though the night was tough and the skies were challenging, the experience felt special and memorable for you. Nights like these are part of the Arctic reality, and knowing that Linda and Adam were able to turn it into something warm, engaging, and meaningful makes us incredibly proud. It was truly a privilege to have you with us on board that night and honestly, we consider ourselves lucky as well having you on board with us! Thank you again for your trust and your kind words.

Best Way To See Noerhern Lights

This trip is excellent. Dont hesitate to book this. They are professional, on time, knowledgeable and make this an unforgettable experience. We traveled and found the perfect spot to see the lights dance for us. The pictures that were captured are the highlight of our trip.

Dear Michelle, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your wonderful words. It means so much to us that your night became such a special memory and that you felt well taken care of from the very beginning. Hearing that you found the perfect spot and got to watch the lights dance is just beautiful. We are especially happy that the photos became a highlight of your trip. Warm greetings from all of us Blue Puffin Team 💙🐧

We are luck to have Blue Puffin

Jianke_L, Nov 2025
The experience was such excellent. The tour guide Monika and the minibus driver were so professional and experienced. It was a snow day in Tromso, cloudy everywhere . The possibility to see northern light is very very low. Monika and the driver drove more than 5 hours all the way to Finland and finally found clear sky and we were all very excited to see the amazing northern light. We really appreciate Monika and the driver's efforts.

Response from Host, Nov 2025

Thank you for all the warm words:)I have surely talked to you during the booking process, however your guide, Kirstin and Adam did all the job. So all the points go to them for making it happen:)

A most incredible night with the most incredible people

Jill_J, Oct 2025
We had an incredible night. Our driver and guide were wonderful and friendly. We were impressed by our guides' knowledge of the Northern Lights and knowing exactly where to go to see them. He is also an amazing photographer and was able to perfectly capture the moment. We truly had a VIP experience that we will never forget. This company is the real deal and I highly recommend them. Also, a big thank you to Monica, the owner, for the delicious homemade soup and for making our trip happen. We will forever be grateful for this once in a lifetime experience. Thank you all so much and may God bless.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

It warms our hearts to hear that. Thank you!:)

Incredible! Thanks to our enthusiastic and extremely personable guide Linda and excellent, safe driver Gregor, we had the experience of a lifetime. The probability of our seeing lights was very low with the weather and forecast. But with their expertise, they not only found the perfect spot but timed it perfectly. We had an incredible aurora display. And Linda very patient took several photos of everyone. We seriously could not have been happier and are so glad we went with this tour company and these guides, especially given the slim chances that this would be possible. Northern Lights was the main reason for our entire trip, and to check it off our bucket list was a dream come true! Thank you for hosting the perfect experience!! I’d give 10 stars if we could!

Best tour in Tromsø

Joao_B, Feb 2025
We depend on the weather conditions, but we had such an amazing experience and were able to see so many auroras forming. So many photos and memories - and such a nice bunch of people we were with. Linda is a great guide and super charismatic. Loved every minute and can't recommend enough.

Perfect Night for Northern Lights!

Gwen_L, Jan 2025
Blue Puffin tour was fantastic. Victor was a fun guide. He told us facts about the lights & made sure to take lots of pictures of our group. We went to a remote location. Some other tours also showed up, but there was plenty of room for all to spread out. Our night sky was fabulous! We enjoyed the soup & cookies by the warm fire. The thermal suits were toasty & allowed us to sit or lie down in the snow to get a better view of the beautiful skies. I would recommend that everyone take this tour. It was an incredible experience!

Loved Victor as our guide. Very thankful for the thermal suits. Next time need toe warmers in my boots

Amazing Tour!!!

Paolo_T, Jan 2025
This was really a remarkable experience! Chasing Northern Lights was really the focus of the tour and it was a success!! But they made it more memorable to the tourists as they took professional photos for us, had a bonfire and dinner in between mountains with thermal suits to keep us warm, took us to different locations for the best view of what we are after and made a cheers of hot drinks and cookies as we celebrated the amazing experience! Our driver and tour guide were very helpful and kind persons, they really did an excellent tour fo us! And please keep your eyes wide open, the Aurora might be out for a longer time in different areas of the sky but there is a chance it will gracefully dance in an instant, you don't want to miss that!! Thank you guys for a wonderful memory!! ❤️❤️❤️
