Overview
Soak up Tromsø's spectacular surroundings while out on the fjords in a traditional wooden boat. This half-day fishing and fjord cruise allows you try your hand at fishing for cod (bring your own rod or use one of the boat's); relax on deck or in the cozy lounge; or do a bit of both. If we are the fishing is good, you will be served fresh fish, butter, and flatbread in a real northern Norwegian style.

The boat is beautiful, well maintained, and historic and the crew is friendly and competent. We went to a few different fishing spots, caught a lot of fish and released some of it (I only got one little fish, not sure if I was unlucky or lacked the technique, but other people were a lot more successful, there is definitely fish down there!). The backdrop of sea and mountains was beautiful throughout the trip. It drizzled a bit on and off but they gave us thermal suits that pretty much protect you from all the elements. We had plenty of fish to eat on board (boiled in sea water, simple but good), and even some leftover fresh fish fillets to take home, for those who wanted it. Hot tea, coffee and juice available too during the trip. Learned some interesting stuff about the boat and fishing industry in Norway. Would definitely recommend for those who like fishing and fish (although you don't have to fish, one can also do it as just a boat trip). I would do it again if I find myself back in Tromso.

We went in January. Beautiful weather but wrap up warm. The team and captain were so friendly and we were well looked after. An absolute faultless trip. Was the absolute highlight of our holiday! Don’t visit Tromso without booking this trip!

It was a great trip, everyone caught some cod, saw jellyfish, saw eagles and seagulls diving into the water.
We caught a few big cod to have for lunch, delicious.

We had a wonderful half day fishing trip. The captain and 2 guides were excellent, very informative and helpful. We caught several large cod! I’d highly recommend it

This was a fantastic trip. Our tour caught a whole lot of fish and the crew helped a ton! We had coffee/tea/hot cocoa and the fish cakes were really good. The fish we caught, we got to eat literally just an hour later. The only thing I would mention otherwise is, we didn’t go to any of the fjords.

Despite the weather not being the most agreeable, the trip was awesome! They got us on some fish quickly and we all caught some fish! I caught 6! The crew made us all feel welcome and took great care of us! I highly recommend this excursion.

I had a blast. I didn’t catch anything but I still had fun. So many other ppl did catch big fish. It was so exciting! I was shown how to clean the fish and we ate the catch. It’s a gorgeous way to see Tromsø. We saw brown eagles and white beaked dolphins swam with us on our way back to the harbor. All staff were very nice.

Viator did not have the updated Meeting Place, so I arrived at the wring location and, thus, missed the tour. After contacting the tour operator, she authorized a refund, and noted honestly that I was indeed given wrong information. So, though my experience with this tour was unfortunate, I would certainly consider another attempt at it, thanks to the honesty of the tour operator.

We had great time on this trip. We had our 11 month old daughter with us and all of the crew were very caring and accommodating. Caught two decent sized cod and even saw some dolphins. Thank you to the crew!

This was such a fun experience! Great way to get out on the water, see parts of the fjords, and do some fishing. Caught several fish myself and the group caught more than enough to clean and cook for lunch on the way back (was delicious!). The captain and crew were so kind and fun to be with. Learned a lot about the ship, the area, the fish we caught, and much more. Would definitely do this again!

My parents (late 70s), my husband and I (early 50s) REALLY enjoyed this fishing/fjord tour. We've been travelling for over 2 weeks and out of all our paid excursions, this was one of our favorites (maybe even our favorite out of all). The fishing, the boat and views were fantastic, but the crew made it perfect! All of them made us feel welcome and special. They did everything they could to ensure we had a great time. We learned so much about the ship and the area. I didnt catch any fish, but other passengers did, and the crew cleaned the cod and cooked it all for us to eat. Best fish I've ever eaten! Amazing to be able to sit on the ship and eat fish that was caught not even an hour before. We have another day in the area and I'm tempted to book it again! We definitely recommend this excursion and want to say thank you to the crew that allowed us to have such a wonderful experience! We will be telling everyone back home about how much fun we had today!

We had a fantastic trip with Truls Iversen, captain Arndt and crew on Hermes II. We were sailing through an astonishing landscape and had close contact with seabirds, seals and porpoises. Truls found us several good fishing spots and we saw a few eagles close to the boat. Truls also gave us interesting information about naval history, the region and surrounding nature. We are very grateful and will come back soon.

Great llittle fishing trip from Tromssa. Sailing on a beautifull ship with friendly/helpfull crew while absorbing stunning views and getting some fish too!

We have used Viator before with fantastic results. Viator has been our “go to” company.
We were the very first to disembark our cruise ship. The map to find the boat was on our phone. We hustled to the floating pier to see the boat pull away at 9:01. I waved and waved as my husband shouted, “Hello” a number of times. I tried calling the number of the tour guide, nothing! No answer! We were so very disappointed! When we paid we said we were on the Seabourn cruise ship, don’t they count the passengers?? So sad. BEWARE!!

Dear Bonnie, First of all, so sorry for the late response (due to vacation). I am also very sorry that you missed the opportunity to join the tour. Once the boat has left the pier it is not possible to return to the pier for the sake of our other guests as it will take too long. This is also why we always ask our guests to meet 10-15 minutes before departure. I see that you also tried to call us without any luck. If we knew your were about to arrive, we would have waited. Because of this I think it is fair to give you a full refund. Hopefully we will see you on board with us some other time.
