Joe was an amazing tour guide! He was very patient considering the many times I requested to take a break. I had a great and the view was definitely worth it. Highly recommend this tour but be prepared to get a good workout.

Fantastic day trip and the time flew by.
Mike was a great tour guide and tailored the tour to the group.

Great of one is fit. Do not join if you struggle with up and down hiking. Joe is a very experienced and kind tour guide.

Be prepared for hiking. Bring extra pair of socks and good hiking shoes. The view is amazing at the top.

We feel this tour was mis-sold. Having read previous reviews, we booked this based on the positive feedback which seemed to relate to Mike. Joe, our guide, was more of a driver and less of a guide. During the 3.5 journey there we received about 10 minutes of commentary. The collection point was well out of downtown and a very early start which wouldn’t have been such an issue had it not been for our overall satisfaction of the tour. The tour was not cheap. In comparison we had a full day trip to a vineyard, Niagara Falls, a 3 course lunch and Niagara on the lake for slightly less.
We consider ourselves to be fairly active but found this quite hard going at times. The itinerary suggests some flexibility but none was offered. We also did not have a canoe ride which is clearly listed as a highlight and nor was any explanation given explaining why this didn’t happen.
There was no suggestion that we should bring mosquito repellent and on the trip back the minivan was full of them. Perhaps the van should have been sprayed before we set off as we became a buffet for the local mossies!
There were some nice views along the route but most of the hike was through wooded areas. It was advertised as 3 separate hikes but was actually more like an 4-hour hike (quite exhausting) and a half hour one.
Overall, disappointing and not recommended.

Thabk you for your feedback and joining our tour. We are sorry, that you were not satisfied with our tour, however, you have booked our Algonquin Park Hiking trip only, that's why, there was no canoeing included on the day of the tour. Our canoe trips runs only on Thursday's and Saturday's and on Sundays (when you joined the tour) and Wednesday's we only have hiking tours. You haven't paid for canoeing part. Also the ticket, you have received says, that you are joining Algonquin park hiking trip only. Regarding our hiking part, our tour guide decided to hike the most beautiful hike of the Algonquin Park - Track and Tower as he saw that everybody on the tour is in a good shape. In the past, we have hiked short, 1 hikes and we have got lot of complains, that the hikes are too short, that's why we have decided to hike longer trails. However if we see that some people on the trip wouldn't be able to hike the longer hike, we change the itinerary for shorter hikes. We hope, that you can give us another chance in the future.

Lovely tour with wonderful guide (Mike) to spent a day in the beautiful nature of Algonquin park! The walks and activities are suited to the season and weather conditions and you are informed what to bring . When I did the tour (end of April) the possibilities were somewhat limited due to the conditions on the trails, but it was a beautiful day and during three walks we enjoyed marvelous scenery and views, and met many curious chickadee birds.

The fall colors were at their peak, and Mike our guide took us to the best places, provided enough food and bathroom stops, and was very attentive to everyone.

Cancelled by opetator in the last moment. I never receved the reschedulle ticket or refound. Bed service.

The hiking was pretty good. Some good views and the waterfall was spectacular. Bat lake hike can be skipped. Instead the initial 3 posts of the centennial ridge and the lookout trail could be added. Overall, a fun experience. Joe is a great guide.

We loved the canoe trip, the swim in the lake and the 2 hikes.
Was a bit nervous beforehand that I might be too unfit and hold the group up, but our guide Mike selected perfect spots and we all enjoyed the day immensely.
We are a group made up of 52 year old woman plus 2 teenagers (age 16 and 17).
Whilst we were advised to bring breakfast and lunch, in fact Mike made sure we had plenty of opportunities to go to restroom and also purchase snacks and drinks.
Mike was an excellent tour guide and driver.

We didn’t expect that the tour would last for the whole day that supper had to be taken before the tour returning to town (and it was not stated in the itinerary neither). We had to leave the tour by ourselves at 8 pm, at the place where the tour bus stopped for supper, such that we could go to our dinner appointment.
Lucie_S, Jul 2024
My twenty year old nephews said it was a lot of fun. They liked the people on the mini- van. They said the guide was”calm”.
Laura_F, Jun 2024
We were picked up on time and went on three walks each a couple of km. There were some steep and uneven parts but we took it slow and kept everyone together. Our guide Mike had fantastic knowledge of the area and gave us options on the walks to take. Although we missed out on seeing a moose and had some rain, it was still a very enjoyable trip with some amazing views.

The hikes in the park were absolutely breathtaking! Had a great time and highly recommended for those interested in hiking trail parks. Plus Mike the tour guide was extremely informative, helpful and nice!

Algonquin is beautiful in itself but I feel like the trip is a little misbranded. The ‘hikes’ are short 2km walks and in between there is a long hours break for lunch which you have to provide yourself before a small amount of time on the water in a canoe and a swim off an ‘island’ which is merely just a rock in the middle of the water. My guide wasn’t particular enthusiastic and it felt like it was just a side job for him to concentrate on his main hustle in life. The journey time in comparison to what you get to do isn’t good so I wouldn’t recommend, especially for the price. This is an expensive trip and looking back at the ones I did in Jacque Cartier in Quebec and Mt Tremblant in Montreal for a quarter of the price, I now feel like this is a bit of a rip off.

Very well organized. Good, professional guide. Interesting places to visit. Nice experience on canoe.
Daniel_O, May 2023
The guide, Mike, was fantastic. But the thing I missed is that as we just had one day and the distance from Toronto is long, I expected to approach the tour more, doing longer and more beautiful trackings. The ones that we did were very beautiful, but It could be better.
Glenn_O, Sep 2022
Inspirational views, clean and fresh air, and excellent weather. Great hiking locations and the guide, Mike, accommodated the participants with an extra hike due to a light rain shower that cut the canoe trip a little short. The hikes were relatively easy, and Mike allowed everyone to go at their own pace. The van ride was good and Mike made sure everyone had an opportunity to buy some food and drinks along the way. The only recommendation I have would be to sprinkle in a little more information or history along the way.

Meeting such great friends from all over the world. I was able to practice my Italian with my new friend from Rome. Also kayaking and seeing the overlook was amazing.
Bethan_M, Jul 2022
Mike was a fantastic and fun leader, and we had a wonderful day swimming, canoeing and hiking through Algonquin!
Kenessary_T, Jul 2022
The trip was canceled last minute by the company. Terrible experience. The first time tried and I am not gonna use your service again, nor I will recommend it. Oh, I still don't see my money returned. Awful customer service.
Response from Host, Jul 2022
Thank you for your revies. As per our phone conversation, the tour has been canceled by Viator and not by our company. The tour was operating and your seat was confirmed. Despite on Viator technical issues, we have agreed with full refund. As Viator is holding the funds, you will have to call their customer service and check how long it takes to get refund on your credit card. We apologize for this inconveniences and we are in touch with Viator about this matter.

We wanted to explore Algonquin Park, without hiring a car. The trip was super. Bus pick up was on time and the stops for refreshments and toilet breaks were perfectly timed. Mike the tour guide was tuned into the needs of all and was encouraging where needed, on the hikes and out on the water. The trip in the canoe was brilliant and the view from the lookout point was stunning. Mike took some great photos and hopefully we will get access in the coming days.
Thomas_C, Jun 2022
Mike Davis, our guide took us to this beautiful National Park area 2.5 hrs drive out of Toronto. The day exceeded expectations with 2 short, scenic walks, canoeing and swimming as well as accompanying us to the Park's Visitors Centre. A truly memorable day that I can highly recommend.
Anne_D, May 2022
We had a lovely day, fantastic view from the lookout trail. We liked the waterfall too as well as the stops by the lakes.
All very well organized, friendly and relaxed atmosphere!
Pam_A, May 2022
Wonderful sunny day, our guide Mike was great, very knowledgeable and friendly. Amazing views.. Lovely ice cream on the way back, no bears or moose but still throughly enjoyed the whole day
Helin_T, May 2022
I felt sick at night right before the trip so I asked to reschedule not even refund. They don’t care about their customers. They were extremely rude and greedy for money.
Response from Host, May 2022
We are sorry about your experience. However you have confirmed your pick up location with the tour guide just 2 hour before the tour supposed to start (you have called and emailed and there wasn't any note about being a sick since the previous night), half an hour before your pick up we have received a phone call, asking for the reschedule. We are very sorry but unfortunately we are not able to reschedule or refund just with half an hour notice before the tour. Than you have called and said that you will join. Our tour guide went to pick you up and when he was 10 minutes away from your pick up location you have text messages him and canceled again. We are sorry but we are not able to refund money with only half an hour cancellation notice.

So unfortunately I cad to cancel my trip to Canada as my PCR test results did not arrived timely to boarding. I reached out to this company and they said they would provide a certificate number in order for me to use in the future as this was a non-refundable ticket. Almost 2 months after and trying to reaching out to them via email, viator customer service and they still haven't gotten back to me. When I try to reach out to them through Viator "contact operator" it says it is temporarily out of service and to refresh the page which I have and have the same issue. A company that does not go by their word it's not worth supporting at all.
Response from Host, Mar 2022
He Teresa, we have send a gift certificate several times to your provided email. We have also informed a customer service in Viator that your gift certificate has been send. We have your gift certificate in the system with the full amount which can be used anytime as it never expires! If you have any issues to view the gift certificate please email us to info@travellingchicken.ca
