In such situations, your tour guide will take you to one or two alternative sightseeing spots, like Peace Park in Gotemba, Hakone Shrine, Hakone Geo Museum, Hakone Komagatake Ropeway, Mt. Komagatake, Hakone Ashinoko Boat Cruise, Narukawa Museum, a boat cruise on Lake Kawaguchi, or Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway.
- If the road to Mt. Fuji 5th station is closed due to snow or other reasons, heavy traffic is expected, or if the tour is running behind schedule, we will drive to the highest accessible point. Please be aware that even under these circumstances, the tours may not be canceled, and the tour fare shall not be refunded.
- If you have food allergies or dietary restrictions, we regret to inform you that we are unable to provide any special meals. In such cases, we kindly ask you to choose the tour option without lunch.
- If participants who disembark at Odawara Station after the tour encounter delays and are unable to catch their scheduled train due to heavy traffic or operational reasons, refunds will not be provided. Instead, please take non-reserved seats on the subsequent train.
- We suggest bringing warm clothing and rain gear, including a raincoat and an umbrella, for your visit.
- Children up to 5 years old can join the tour for free. However, please be aware that bus seats and lunch will not be provided at no cost. If bus seats or lunch are required for a child, the applicable child fare will be charged.
- Guests with the following health problems should avoid outdoor activities at Owakudani Valley: Allergic asthma, bronchial disorders, respiratory complaints, heart complaints, and individuals using heart pacemaker equipment.
- A taxi may be utilized for pick-up service. Due to operational reasons, a guide may not accompany you during pick-up service. Pick-up services at each hotel are available when the reservation is made more than one hour before the scheduled pick-up time.

We were picked up at our hotel and then experienced many different activities which was excellent. Should note that Gotemba Peace Garden is on top of a very steep hill. Only challenge for us was understanding the guide. He was very nice, helpful.

We started out at 8.45 am from the designated pick up point. At 10.30 am we were just out of Tokyo.
And we were told the Hakone visit maybe cancelled. On our way we could see Mt.Fuji clearly but as we got closer, the clouds built up. We should've gotten there sooner.
At about 12 noon, we got a restroom break. Since it was cloudy at the peak we were not taken to the 2nd station (versus the 5th station as mentioned in the tour). At 1.45 pm we were taken to a restaurant for lunch. Lunch was okay.
At this point, we were wondering what this tour was about.
Then the Hakone trip was back on track and the visit to Peace Garden gave us a good view of Mt.Fuji albeit topped by a few clouds.
The rest of the trip was good although the Hakone Shrine was given a miss.
The guide Tomimoto (Tommy) was not coherent at all and would leave the sentence mid air. He meant well but his English is not clear at all.

The tour guide was lovely, very informative but the long queues, being 1 hour then 35 minutes, at the cable car (which was a waste of time due to dense cloud cover and rain), caused us to miss the pirate boat ride. We were refunded a measley one thousand yen each. It would have been better to skip the cable car all together and just head to the boat. This, along with no vision of Mt Fuji (nobody’s fault) made the very very long day, a waste of time. The Peace park, replacing the canceled shrine visit was okay.

I initially picked this tour because they offer hotel pick up. We were early at the meeting point and a tour guide met up with us. But she took us to 2 other different hotels claiming traffic reasons and the bus was still 30 mins late. We took a taxi ride to one hotel and then. 5 mins later we had to walk to the next one. It was weird. After we got picked up, the tour guide announced that we would go to the 4th station at Mt. Fuji. She also confirmed that the part where we would visit the famous tori gate shrine was canceled due to overcrowding tourists. My son was disappointed because that would have been the highlight. The tour company did notify us two weeks before that there was a possibility that it would be canceled. 4th station was a total waste of time. We did not have a clear view of Mt. Fuji (which happens very often). Even if it wasn’t cloudy, the location was just very underwhelming with obstructed views. We went to Peace Park instead of the shrine. Nothing much to see there. The rest of the tour we spent long hours just standing in queues for the cable cars and when we finally arrived at the volcanic area, the tour guide told us we had one minute to take a photo and we had to rush to another line for another cable car. That location had tons to explore plus shops so it was very unfortunate that we did not get to do so. She said the queues took too long and we had to catch the cruise. After the second cable car we went on the pirate ship and it was extremely crowded. Aside from experiencing no personal space, there was nothing really to see on the way back to the port. We got back on the bus afterwards and headed straight to the train station. The only positive thing about this tour was that the tour guide was nice and friendly. Other than that, we have definitely wasted our time with this tour. Badly planned and not recommended.

We have a wonderful tour lady guide. She explain everything in big detail. She teach us Japanese numbering to ten. She explain Japanese dishes and how they house looks inside. She take a good care the group to keep together in the craud. Also she help us get taxi after a train ride to get back to the

The activities are very rigid in terms of time. If you are not a time watcher, you could easily be left behind. There is not enough time spent at each location. The lunch was highly disappointing. The tour guide (as nice as was) honestly, should not be a tour guide. There was vey little background or history given. He was just not English proficient enough to be a guide; which meant communication and directions were confusing and chaotic. For the most part, tourists were left to rely on each other to navigate the tour.

This was such a nice change of pace. We had a very busy few days in tokyo leading up to this tour. Being driven through the country side filled with autumn leaves, with stunning views of Fuji was just the break we needed. There's a bunch of stops along the way and loads of great information. Only bummer was we had to skip the gondola ride due to heavy winds in that area, but that's the chances you take with this kind of tour. Our guide Izumi (who was wonderful, and quite funny) made up for however by getting us first class boat tickets, and taking us to an additional site, not originally part of the tour but still beautiful. We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend

I was told we were supposed to be picked up by bus at 8:30 ,I waited about 20 minutes,talked to a fellow at the desk to call tour company and happened he saw a lady looking for us to take us to another hotel for the bus to pick us up ,got on the bus was full and I couldn’t seat with my wife which is ok but sat with another lady and she sat on my quarter of my seat and on return trip I had to pay my way to back to Toyko I asked why and couldn’t understand her while she gave tickets to all the orther people

We were very pleased with the exceptional handling by the tour operators on the ground. We arrived early at the meeting point and were taken by taxi to meet others at a second meeting point at a nearby hotel. Once we got onto the tour bus the journey was comfortable and pleasant. The driver was great as he controlled the bus very well and avoided a collision with a deer that jumped onto the road as we were driving up to Mt. Fuji station #5. The Mt. Fuji stop was the highlight of this tour. The tour guide did her best to give us some highlights of places along the journey and gave insightful guidance at places of interest. Didn't think too much about the late lunch or the pirate boat lake cruise. The Hakone Sky Gondola ride was best when it reached the peak at Owakudani valley. The black eggs? Will have to wait 14 years before commenting on that. Always love bullet train rides and the tour guide made sure that we all boarded that train back to Tokyo. Thank you for a wonderful tour!

I am so glad I booked this tour! The tour guide and driver did an excellent job! We had our luggage with us as we were staying in Hakone after the tour. Yoshi, the tour operator was kind enough to ask where I was staying in Hakone and ensure I could get to my hotel from where the boat docked. He called the head and communicated all of the steps to me, this was above and beyond service! We then took the tour and everything was very efficient. The tour guide informed us of all the places we were going in the history.
At the end of the tour, she called the head to the hotel and walked me to the bus that I needed to take to get to the hotel. I can’t thank you enough for your amazing service.

This itinerary ticks all the boxes for a one day Mount Fuji Tour. good clean bus. Very informative interaction with the Guide IZUMI. The tour was too long. We spent a lot of time on the coach. It took us 3 hours with all the pick ups and then to get only 30 mins at Mount Fuji. Not enough time at all. Wanted to go to the gift shop and send a post card but just not enough time. Very rushed, disappointed, you need at least an hour. Our guide led us through all the activities nicely. You have to make your own way back to the hotel from the station. She did give us directions which was good.

It’s a very long day, and you so much of your time on the bus. Once you get to a destination it does feel rushed. I wish we had more time at Mt. Fuji even though it was cloudy, however the entire experience was fun despite that. Our tour guide was also friendly and entertaining.

My wife and I booked the Mt Fuji and Hakone 1-Day Bus Tour with return by bus to Shinjuka Station, Tokyo. Instead, we were abruptly told by our tour guide Kayo during the tour that it would end at Odawara Station, over 80km away from the agreed drop off point in Tokyo. We were given no transport back to Tokyo and had to pay 9960 JPY for train tickets ourselves.
As two elderly travellers, we were shocked to be left stranded and even more appalled by Viator’s dismissive customer service. Despite showing confirmation of our return to Tokyo by bus, we were quoted small print and left to fend for ourselves.
I contacted Viator via WhatsApp and received no empathy or solution — just hollow responses and a promised manager call that never came.
We’ve spent thousands with Viator over the years, but after this disgraceful experience, we’re rethinking all future bookings. Absolutely unacceptable.
Anyone considering this tour seriously think again, I would hate anyone else to be caused such anxiety.

Japan Gray Line does not operate a Mt. Fuji tour that returns by bus. (Even so, we would never treat our guests in such a cruel manner.)

We had a wonderful day with Yokiko and the 2 best coach drivers ever today. Communication with the tour coordinator prior to the tour was clear & concise. A bus picked us up at our pickup location. Watch for the message on exact pickup time (our pickup was 30 minutes after what it had mentioned on tour voucher).
English guide was provided, and she guided us not just for the trip but even after the trip actively showing us where and how to change trains.
As is expected with a bus tour like this, you have limited but enough time at each location. Was a good experience overall.
The day we went, Roads to Mount Fuji were closed due to snow, so the tour took us to a lake instead.

The tour was well organised and communication prior to, and during the tour was excellent. Yoshi our guide obviously loved being a tour guide and this was evident in the way he spoke to his passengers and talked about the places we visited. He made sure each of us knew how to find connecting transport upon our arrival at Tokyo station.
Despite the poor weather and not being able to see Mt. Fuji I had a great day doing the other activities.

Variety and comfort of the tour was fantastic, even though Mt. Fuji was clouded in the trip was excellent. The guide was knowledgable and friendly and the tour worthwhile. It is a full-day of sightseeing, but always interesting.

The English speaking guide spent most of the trip working out payments from the passengers that booked direct and paid on the bus.
We were then taken to the fourth station on Mt Fuji … but the view was only of the top little section that we could see through the trees.
It would be like being on a trip to see the Eiffel Tower and taken straight to the lift and up three quarters of the way and getting a photo opportunity to get a picture of the pointy bit - but never taken to anywhere to actually see the whole image.
It was if I was to be really cynical sad that we were not given a picture at the end of the trip.
The boat ride on the lake was more of a Disney World theme. We were taken on a toy pirate ship after queuing for twenty minutes and being crammed onboard. People had to take it in turns to get photos.
All in all it was rushed, poorly planned and did not provide the experience expected at Mt Fuji. Surely a stop should have been planned so that a view of the actual mountain was experienced. It could be said that the experience was to actually drive up a trail and see a tiny part of the expected view.
We were very disappointed in the planning and execution of this offer.
