João is an outstanding tour guide, in fact one of the best we have had in Europe. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Evora and gave us insight into the development of the city from the early days of the Celtics to modern Portugal. My wife and I took a private guided tour on 10-May. Evora was brought to a magical light by our tour guide Elsa. The information she shared and the passion in telling us about the wonders of her home city made our tour so enjoyable. We stopped at the major sites inside of Evora’s walls and spent our time strolling from site to site with stories Elsa shared about the history and current day facts and myths. The tour was so well worth it!!

Taking a bus out to Evora from Lisbon to meet a local guide is well worth the trip. We had such fun and learned a lot. We could have spent more time in Evora but hey...go, go, go!!!

The tour was offered at 6:30 PM. What the tour provider failed to note was that all of the sites along the route were closed by that time, so nothing was available to see except building exteriors and the Roman ruins (described by our host as "not that important"). We would have been far better off simply taking a walking tour on our own earlier in the day, using a guide book. Save your money, and avoid this "tour."

The tour you purchased has had dozens of excellent reviews from those who visit us and this is the first time we have had an observation in this regard.
We created the service together with the support of Viator's quality department in the hope of providing customers with as much information as possible regarding the service they are purchasing.
We believe that the information provided on the tour is quite clear, I share some examples.
Right after the "Overview" section comes the "What's Included" where it clearly informs that the visit excludes entrance tickets and visits only take place outside the monuments and historic streets.
The "What To Expect" section has even more detailed information. For the Cathedral for example, it says the following: "Outside visit to Évora Cathedral and information about the historical and architectural context. The visit to the interior of the cathedral is not included in the tour..."
We can only regret the situation, knowing that we did everything to avoid any misunderstanding.

Walking tour review: Private walking tour with Paulo he was amazing! He knew an incredible amount of history about the area! he was like a walking encyclopedia! It was fascinating listening to him talk about architecture from different time periods, pointing out little spots you would never notice if you were just walking around on your own. He was also very clearly proud of his country, and that showed too. It was the first thing we did when we arrived in Evora.
