Evora is a city rich with history - and our guide João (who’s a local History PhD student) did a wonderful job of helping it come alive. He was engaging and so knowledgeable - did a great job involving our 11 & 14 year old kids too! I’d definitely recommend a guided tour for evora to maximize your experience - and I have only wonderful things to say about our guide and the tour!

This was a really great tour. I don’t remember our guides name but she was an excellent guide who speaks excellent English. Extremely knowledgeable in the history of the area and also of Portugal. She is very funny and also tells fun stories about the people and the area. I would highly recommend this tour. I use Viator throughout the world for tours and only once did they fall short. They instantly refunded me the money.

It was great because it was a private tour and we can ask any questions we wanted. It was laid-back, easy pace, Elsa was very knowledgeable since she was born in. Evora. She understood the history and answered every question that we asked her unlike other tours where we got people that didn’t understand the country giving us a tour.

An easy paced tour, with a detailed history of all the places we visited. Went to many relevant places of interest, and given detailed information about same.
Joao is a fantastic guide, and answered each and every question we ask of him. It was clear that he has a very good knowledge of not only the town of Evora, but also Portuguese history, through his education.
Highly recommend using Joao as your guide to Evora, but you’ll need more than one day to explore this wonderful town.

This was fantastic. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about history all the way back 1000's of years. He brought the past and the present together. It was so interesting to walk through time. The bone church was fascinating, not creepy. The town is a fun place to wander and explore.

Highly recommend this tour. We had an excellent tour of Evora with our guide Joao. Besides being a nice person, he was very enthusiastic about the history and culture of Evora and Portugal. In addition to the sights, we got to sample local ginjinha and learned about cork trees and products. Joao was patient and easy going. He took the time to help us with a winery booking and many other restaurant and further travel recommendations. Obrigda!

A great way to see Evora and better understand the history of the city and see some of the key sights. Our guide was excellent providing just enough history but adding some humorous anecdotes as well to keep it interesting and help ensure that you remembered some of the stories of the city. The pacing was great as well - you are able to see quite a lot in a short period of time.

This was the best tour with the best guide during our entire Portugal trip! Our guide, Joao, is passionate, knowledgable, and an academic/historian. His experience allowed us to be fully immersed and understanding of Évora's history, his guidance was thoughtful and he catered to our family's needs and interests.
