Overview

Experience a hang gliding or paragliding tandem flight over Rio de Janeiro, taking off from Pedra Bonita in UNESCO-listed Tijuca National Park. After a safety briefing from your qualified instructor, soar above granite peaks draped in lush rain forest. Take in the coastline as you fly for some minutes before landing at Pepino Beach in São Conrado.

The hang glider or paraglider is equipped with a safety parachute and is inspected regularly according to the manufacturers standards
Wear comfortable shoes (no flip flops, sandals, or slippery shoes)
Do not consume alcohol prior to flight
Eat soft foods prior to flight
From 16 to 18 years old, a person can fly only if accompanied by parent or legal guardian
Weight limit is 180 lbs (80 kg) for hangliding and 250 lbs (110 kg) for paragliding approximately plus or minus
This tour/activity will have a maximum of 4 travelers

I’m scared of heights and was scared the whole ride before going to fly but the Staff Assad was very friendly and helpful that gave me the option to change the activity for the paragliding instead, they made me feel very confident and comfortable with their amability . 100% recommend to do this activity very enjoyable with beautiful views

Serious mix up and failure to communicate between viator and the tour group

The contractor canceled this activity and said that viator never should have scheduled it. Since I scheduled it the same day, I could not cancel it through viator without agreeing to not receive a refund.

I am the pilot responsible and the fault was entirely mine and Viator has no responsibility for it. I failed to anticipate that the demand for hang gliding that day after Carnaval wuld be greater than our capacity to meet. We ran out of pilots an time. I apologize and please send a e-mail to Viator explaining the caancellation and you will be fully refunded . Thank you for undestanding

Such an amazing experience and our guide Assad Junior is so kind and makes you feel so comfortable. To jump off a cliff, it takes faith with your instructor(s) and Assad & his team gives you that courage! You do have to take the leap of faith though. It is so worth it. Once you are airborne looking over all of Rio… you feel this huge sense of peace and almost spiritual experience. Every day is a gift… gift this experience for yourself. You will thank yourself and experience less fear in Life because isn’t that is what Life is about? Eliminating our fears and enjoying a beautiful Life.

If there are two things that are must dos in Rio, I would say this is one of them along with visiting Christ the Redeemer. The experience is priceless and a memory you will never forget. You get the option to buy a t shirt and your go pro pictures and videos from the cameras 2 mounted on the hang glider. Kids under 16 are not allowed, much to the dismay of my son who already wants his 16th birthday in Rio.
