Overview

Hike up Rio's famous Corcovado Mountain for excellent views of the city and an up-close encounter with the Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer) statue. What To Expect

Following pickup from your hotel in Rio (select areas only), board a comfortable, climate-controlled minivan for the short ride to Parque Lage, the starting point for your 1.5-mile (2.4-kilometer) hike.

Walk through the park's 100-year-old palm trees and view the art school housed in a stately 1920s Italian mansion. Enter the lush Tijuca Rainforest as your guide outlines the hike ahead of you and offers a few pointers specific to your trek. Listen as your guide points out the native flora and fauna during your 2-hour hike, which will include a few stops to rest, hydrate, and eat snacks you brought with you.

At the summit of Corcovado, stand face to face with Rio's most iconic symbol, the Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer) statue. From the top of the mountain at 2,330 feet (710 meters) in elevation, you'll have spectacular views of Guanabara Bay and Rio's city skyline.

Take the same path down the mountain and return to Parque Lage, where you'll board your minivan for drop-off at your hotel.

Our guides, Gui and Bruno were incredible! Very personable and knowledgeable. The hike itself was a bit of a challenge - sometimes having to use all fours to get up the side of the mountain in very hot temperatures - but the trees offered shade. We were lucky enough to see capuchin monkeys and a whole family of marmosets! The Christ the Redeemer statue is iconic, so it was incredible to see it up close, but the hike itself is the highlight of this tour.
