Sadly, although our tour guide was super nice, they arrived 45 minutes late to the pickup time. Not only did we not see the other two sights, the communication about us only seeing Christ the redeemer was never even shared with us. Terrible communication and not with it in my opinion. Better off just going yourself since we didn’t even get fast past access into anything

Unfortunately, because it was the Tuesday of Carnaval we did not get to go to the Santa Teresa Neighbourhood or the Selaron steps. I did not see that when I booked the tour. They apologize because they could not go because of all of the traffic and different parades going on that day. I wish I had known that I would’ve booked it for the day after. Otherwise, Christ, the redeemer was a must see. Wonderful tour guide.

Well escorted tour

Well escorted trip to Christ the Redeemer by bus not tram. Our hotel was in Flamengo which was outside the pick up zone. The tour operator confirmed the nearest pick up point and we made our way there by Uber (and back after the tour). We were informed at the start of the tour we wouldn’t be able to see the Selaron steps due to the congestion due to the carnival - no reduction in tour cost was offered. The queues at the redeemer were short but the viewing areas were quite busy - no cruise ships in today but there were 3 the day before creating long waits.

The tour was pretty good. It was nice to have an english speaking guide to show us these landmarks. I wish the tour started earlier because the lines were crazy at Christ and the steps were packed. The guide Nicolas was very friendly and gave us amazing recommendations for restaurants and other sights. Book if you're not comfortable exploring without a guide, but if you are comfortable without one, then it is not really worth it.

Must do while in Rio

The guide was fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and English. She gave great and detailed information about the history of the country, the city of Rio de Janeiro, and some buildings we passed along the way. The van was air conditioned and great. The Cristo Redentor was packed yet everyone was kind to each other. Take water with you but they sold it 3 for R$20 (about US$4 for 3 bottles). We also went to the Se Laron steps, be ready to walk up the steps (about 140 or so). It was equally packed also.

We booked the tour expecting to see the Santa Teresa neighborhood and the Selaron steps. First we waited half an hour past the expected pickup. When we tried contacting the provider GrayLine through Viator’s app chat to see if they were coming, we never received a response. We tried phoning the 2 numbers provided and there was no answer. Finally, the minibus arrived and then we were off to Christ the Redeemer. Along the ride we were then told that we wouldn’t be seeing the Selaron steps or Santa Teresa at all because of carnival happening and it was too busy to get there. That should have been in the tours detail BEFORE we booked which was the day before. We were also expecting a guide up to the statue but as we got there we were told to just go up and meet back at downstairs in an hour. When we got back we had to wait for the minibus to come back and it was hot so we just decided to ditch the minibus ride back which would have stopped at everyone else’s hotels, so we took a taxi back. We could have just bought our tickets and done this tour ourselves and would have been cheaper.

Book Directly with Greyline, NOT with Viator, they didn't fulfill the tour and refuse to issue a refund

The tour operator did not arrive for my tour. My hotel called them and they had no record of my booking with Viator. They kindly arranged for a new tour starting later in the evening, in an open vehicle without air-conditioning (its what they had available), versus the closed van tour I purchased via Viator. The tour itself was lovely, the guide was excellent, but because it started so late we arrived at the Selaron steps in the DARK and the photos are terrible , you can't see anything. I disputed the charge immediately, before Grey Line even arranged to set up a new tour for us. The tour they offered was 1/2 the price paid to Viator, yet Viator still will not offer a partial refund. I've filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau - STAY AWAY FROM VIATOR.

The tour guide was not informed of the correct itinerary and it was foggy at the Christ the Redeemer Statue. However, he was flexible and he rearranged the sites so we saw everything. The tour guide, Jose, was very good, however the vehicle he was driving left a lot to be desired.

I went with my friends for this tour and we had a flight to leave at 4:45pm (we had enough time to make it back before leaving to the airport). When we got to Christ the Redeemer it was so foggy that we weren't able to see anything unfortunately. My friends were late, and Ian was still wonderful. He is very professional, knowledgeable, and was able to make the best of our trip despite our circumstances. I would have loved to complete the full day tour, but he accommodated our schedule. We loved him and the tour!
