Itinerary

After central Prague hotel pickup, travel to the tour start point on the city’s fringes. Then, hop onto a good-quality bike — or upgrade to an electric bike — don a helmet, and set out behind your guide.

Follow level cycle paths along the Rivers Vltava and Berounka, passing by meadows and forests, and soak up the traffic-free peace and quiet. Stop for photos, and on arrival, admire hilltop Karlstejn castle, a Gothic palace-treasury built by Charles IV in the 14th century.

After time to relax or enjoy an optional castle tour (own expense), continue by bike deeper into the countryside. Cycle for about 7.5 miles (12 kilometers) through forests and tiny villages, and hear how the woods hid a missile base during Soviet times.

After the only real climb of your trip, arrive at a microbrewery in the village of Vseradice. Enjoy a late lunch and some locally brewed beer here, and if the owner is present, enjoy an informal tour to see how the beer is brewed.

Lastly, cycle to Karlstejn to catch the return train to Prague, or make the entire journey back by train from here. Your tour then ends with a hotel drop-off.

Nice to see the Czech countryside on bikes. The ride was moderate- 25 miles or so on excellent mountain bikes. The castle was beautiful. The lunch and beer were excellent. Fun train ride home. Martin was knowledgeable and friendly and gave us some great tips on what to see and do and where to eat in Prague.

Martin was a wonderful guide! We biked to the castle and then on to the brewery. I was worried the ride might be too difficult for me because I am a little chubby and out of shape. However, I made it just fine! I would recommend you wearing padded bike shorts if you are picky about your bike seat- they are top notch bikes but obviously, it isn't possible to have 10 different seats to choose from. The brewery was fantastic with some of the best food I had for our entire trip to Prague. I would highly recommend this tour!
