Itinerary

After pickup from your central Prague hotel, travel by air-conditioned vehicle to the start point on the city’s outskirts. Hop on a high-quality electric bike here, don a cycle helmet, and then set off behind your guide, or on your own if you've booked the self-guided option.

Admire the views as you pedal along riverside paths. The 18-mile (30-kilometer) route is level, and over 97% consists of cycle paths away from traffic.

Cruise along the riverbanks, weaving through peaceful countryside and forests, and enjoy your first glimpses of Karlstejn Castle, atop a wooded hill.

En route, take an optional river swim and refuel with refreshments (own expense) at a café or bakery. Opt to take dirt tracks as shortcuts, and visit a secret viewpoint to gaze down over the castle. Admire the stunning scene—the castle enfolded in vast forests—just as Charles IV might have seen it in the 14th century.

Closer up, admire the Gothic courtyard and battlements, and choose to take an interior tour (additional cost). Then, join your guide for lunch and a beer at a local restaurant (guided tour option only).

Afterward, leave your bike in Karlstejn and take a 40-minute train ride back to Prague, ending your trip at the station.

Martin led a fantastic private tour from Prague to the Karlštejn Castle. We had made a mistake with our original booking and he quickly helped us rectify it! He picked us up at the hotel, fit us for our bikes, led a thorough tutorial on how to use the bikes and asked for thoughts on how we wanted to spend our time! Throughout the ride Martin always made sure to ask which type of path we would prefer, which we greatly appreciated. We had stops for strudel, delicious, beer and a traditional Czech lunch. After lunch Martin left us at the foot of the castle to go explore and purchased us train tickets to return back to Prague at our leisure. The ride was spectacular and he brought us to an incredible viewpoint where we could get photos of the castle. We would highly recommend this experience! Thank you Martin!

Benjamin picked us up at our hotel. He was friendly, easy to talk with, and knowledgeable about the city, our bikes, and the route. He drove us to the bikes and fitted us to appropriate bikes and gear. He then led us on various paths and trails--paved, dirt, gravel--with few moments on roads. We rode through pleasant back roads along rivers, through countryside, and some pretty residential areas. Most of the route is fairly flat, but there is one very steep hill going up (using the electricity on 5 made this fairly easy) and one trip down a steep hill, which could be dangerous if you aren't careful with your braking. I loved it! The castle view was spectacular. We also stopped at a cute place for coffee and when we got to the grounds near the castle, we were served a delicious meal. Benjamin took care of that and our return train tickets. We purchased our own tickets for the basic castle tour and enjoyed it. It was a beautiful day.

We had the best time with Martin and Anna. Everything was handled perfectly from pickup to bikes, explaining the route and options and lunch to finish off. Truly one of the best Viator trips we have taken. My daughter )16) was a novice but the e-bikes made it easy for both of us. The route was beautiful and options for easy or more tricky route. Ended in a meadow with an amazing view of the castle followed by a perfect before telling us how to get back to town. He sent us our tickets and it was easy to find the station and simple trip back. The conversations were easy and fun and if we had time we would book his canyon trip!

What a wonderful way to see the outskirts of Praha! The bike ride was fun and just challenging enough, the scenery beautiful and the lunch so delicious. A much-needed break from the frenetic pace of sightseeing in the city. Martin was a great guide - knowledgeable about the region and also went above and beyond to help us with return logistics to the city.

Martin's self-guided ebike tour is a great way to spend a day outside of Prague. Martin is a very responsive host who provided us everything we needed for an independent day of cycling to the castle and back. He was even helpful when our train back to his office had complications. Highly recommended way to get out of the city for a day and see some beautiful Czech countryside!

Enjoyable bike ride on mostly flat terrain till u are closer to the castle. Some very steep climbs / decents where u will definitely need the ebike boost, to get u up the hills. Our guide, was very enjoyable to talk to. I was expecting more people on the tour, but it was just the 2 of us.

Our 2 guides were fantastic! But it rained the entire day, which definitely complicated the ride. Very slick spots & quite treacherous. I’m sure without the rain the ride would have been very different. We thoroughly enjoyed the ride, but it was not without a few tumbles. It was a relief when it was over.

We thoroughly enjoyed our e-bike experience with Andre and his two assistants. Although the weather was wetter than we were expecting we had a lovely ride through the countryside and along the river. We had a welcome morning tea break to dry off a bit then continued on to Karlstejn castle where we had a beautiful view of the castle perched on the hill in the beautiful countryside. What an amazing setting! Then rode down to the town where we had a traditional lunch in a cosy restaurant in the forest. The ride was fairly easy except for a couple of bumpy sections and one steep uphill and one steep downhill. The e-bikes were definitely needed then! Andre was always there to help if it was needed. He gave us our train tickets and instructions on how to get back to Prague. All very easy!

This tour that Martin provided for us was one of our most memorable experiences during our trip to Czechia. From the moment he picked us up, to the time the tour ended, we felt comfortable and got along really well with him. He is extremely friendly and knowledgeable regarding all things in and around Prague. The bike ride to the castle was beautiful and filled with stunning scenery. We stopped for a coffee in a cute cafe that had a delicious freshly baked cake and our lunch at the end was delicious! Martin always left the decisions up to us and gave us many choices for which paths to take on the bike ride, based on skill and comfortability. Wonderful Bike Tour!

We had a wonderful day with Martin as our guide. He gave us “e-bike” training and some safety tips, and we were off! The countryside is very beautiful, we passed through some towns where we could use bathrooms or get a coffee - very civilized! Martin gave us a couple of route choices, which was nice, and the entire ride was around 2 hours, culminating in lunch at a lovely restaurant near Karlstejn Castle. Martin also took some pictures and video of our group which we should receive soon. Highly recommended!

We had a great day exploring the outskirts of Prague with Martin. We stopped along the way for pastries, local beer and finally some lunch in the village just below the castle. After lunch we hiked up the short path to the castle and took in the views. If you enjoy cycling and want to get away from the city for the day, I highly recommend this tour.

My husband and I ,both in our 50's , love to book a bike ride with a guide when we travel to unfamiliar places. we do this to see and hear about the culture, environment, and local flavor of the region. that said, this trip was more about the bike ride. We would have like a little more information about what we were passing through and seeing. we did enjoy lunch with our guide at the Castle and having sometime on our own there. The directions back by train were somewhat unclear. Which side to board from at the station, frequency of our train, which train was ours, amount of time to return to Prague, and where we were when we arrived. It was somewhat of an adventure walking back to our hotel. There is a large train station you arrive at and its difficult to orient yourself without wifi. A map would have been very helpful. overall it was enjoyable but not very informative .

What a great trip! Martin was a knowledgeable host and experienced cyclist who listened to his guests and showed the beautiful castle and countryside. The trip was about 15 miles of flat riding with a dash of trail ride. The surrounding town around the castle was quaint and the lunch authentic. We booked this trip because it was the only company that offered the convenience of a hotel pick up. Martin our tour guide picked us up promptly and was such a great guy. There were four people in the group and he was sensitive to the needs of everyone as well as having a great sense of humour. The ride was on lovely tracks through very pretty countryside and largely traffic free. The bikes were excellent, efficient gears, breaks and comfortable seats. The castle was spectacular and our hour in Karlstejn was a welcome break before the final push to the brewery. Martin has sourced a real gem for the end of the trip because the food and beer were fantastic rewards for all our effort. The summer weekends in Prague are manic and my husband and I are so pleased we escaped the city crowds on the Sunday for this wonderful day out.

This bike ride/micro brewery lunch was the highlight of our 15 day vacation. Touring Europe is great, but my wife and I look for outdoor exercise daily biking/hiking/walking. We can only see so many cities, castles, cathedrals and museums. Searching for a bike tour on line I discovered this one. When reading the description and reference to Small-Group we anticipated 4-6 people on the ride. Much to our surprise we were picked up at our hotel, on time actually early by our personal guide, Maertin who informed us it would be just us on the tour. Maertin's English was excellent and his knowledge of the region combined with a sense of humor made for a great day. The ride and sights were excellent, not too difficult. When I asked if we could limit our time at Karlstejn Castle and focus on pedaling, he was very accommodating. We felt the cost of this tour was extremely reasonable downright cheap and great value. The micro brewery we had lunch at has a wide menu to choose from. The food and beer were outstanding and included in the tour price. If you are looking for some exercise, scenery, history and a good meal/drink this is the tour for you.

Did this bike tour with my Mam and Aunt on May 7th... Great idea to see a bit more than Prague city and it includes lunch in Karlstejn!! Group is kept small and Martin was an excellent host. Bike trail ideal as you get to cycle along bike trails and quiet roads. Would recommend highly
