I highly recommend this tour. It exceeded my expectation. Andre was very knowledgeable, friendly and funny. The first vineyard we stopped at was simply amazing. Very private and intimate experience. The wine tasting here was superb. Lunch was very good and the cruise down the Duro river was relaxing. The second vineyard was also great a little more on the standard side but very informative and the wine was also good. You will no regret booking this tour.

We had the best time on this tour! Loved that it was a small group, and we had a great group of people. We enjoyed both wineries amd our guide Leo was awesome. The weather wasn't the best for the boat ride, but it was still pretty. Sr. Adriano at the second winery was our favorite. Definitely recommend!
A great day trip from Porto with Grapes Journeys and Leopoldo, our new beautiful friend! Leopoldo was super knowledgeable and passionate about his work. Highly recommend!
This tour is way better than the Viator description suggests. The two wineries selected are outstanding and the guide (Leo) is amazing. Enjoy!
This was a wonderful wine tour! The first winery we stopped in was so charming, personal, family owned and completely authentic. The gentleman that owned the winery could not have been more extending,charming, pleasant, and informative.The food and wine were delicious! Our tour guide Michael was incredible!!!!! Informative, extending great driver! Took us to so many scenic spots, we also had a delicious lunch all included in the price of this tour. He took so many pictures of us. Honestly he really could not have been nicer and could not have done a better job. We were a family of six and every single one of us enjoyed it immensely! I could not recommend this tour enough.
We were met by our delightful guide Michael who was full of knowledge but was also fun and very attentive to everyone’s needs. The wineries we visited were very quaint and informative. The experiences were unique, one including sitting around a beautifully set table in the room where the family still stomps the grapes at harvest and the other included climbing in a barrel that stores wine. The scenic drive through the valley and boat ride down the Douro River were spectacular. Our family would highly recommend adding this to your Porto plans! Thank you so much Michael for a beautiful day. You truly shine at what you do!
A full day of experiencing the rich history of portuguese winemaking, seeing the expansive and gorgeous wine country, and tasting fresh and carefully made wine. The drive out from Porto was about an hour and a half BUT our tour guide Leo made the drive fun and engaging. Leo was very knowledgeable about wine and a lot of fun to be around.
Had a wonderful time as a family of 3 traveling with a 13 year old. Great wineries and we could not ask for a better guide than Leo!
If you want to truly experience the Douro Valley, this is the way to do it. André is so passionate about what he does and about the place he was born, and that passion makes this experience truly one of a kind.
I don’t want to spoil all the surprises, but the personal touches and unique moments are something you simply won’t experience any other way. André was knowledgeable, funny, warm, and you can genuinely see how much he loves sharing his home and his story.
This was an amazing experience and a highlight of our time in the Douro Valley!
This is by far the best tour ever! My second time doing it, once with my friend Christina and this time with my husband
I had Andres the first time, and he was so knowledgeable, and fun.
This time we had Michael, and he was just as good as Andres. The tour takes you to the Douro Valley to Andres' dad property, where you learn about the vineyards, olive trees and Kiwis. The property itself is the highlight of the tour. Seeing Adriano again (the father) was wonderful. We had a wine tasting in a most wonderful cave like setting, and served "Portugues Sushi" Then on to a great lunch in Pinhao, a boat tour, some sightseeing along the way and a finale at a Port vineyard. I will be back!
This is truly a day not to miss. Guides, sommeliers etc. were all superb. I hadn't expected to start the first wine tasting at 10 am, but it certainly gave us a great start to the day, leading to a fun climb into the barrel.
Lunch was good, and the boat trip on the Douro beautiful.
This was all a precursor to the grand finale with a wonderfully eccentric local producer. Many corks were removed, some with swords, others with red hot tongs. The host and guide were happy for us to stay and talk into the late afternoon. Truly a marvellous day.

Leopoldo is so fantastic! We had the best time traversing from Porto to Douro Valley and around to a few Quintas. The wine and views were incredible. It’s a long day and well worth the time!
This tour went beyond our expectations! Michael, our guide and sommelier, provided a fabulous experience for our group of 6. He shared his knowledge of wine and wine production throughout the day in a way that was engaging and helpful to all. He kept the conversation open and lively, and welcomed all questions. The two vineyards that we went to were impressive family-owned and operated facilities. The warmth and appreciation shared from the proprietors was genuine and made us all feel so welcome. A unique aspect of this excursion is that one vineyard is in the Vino Verde area and the other in the Douro Valley. This offered a better contrast of the types of wines. It also gave our group a better understanding of the different grapes / wines and we all found wines that we enjoyed that we likely would not have tried ourselves. In addition, the food was tremendous!! The opening breakfast and the mid-day lunch were well thought and paired well with the wines we tasted (15 through the day). We enjoyed the boat ride to have a spectacular view from the river level to the surrounding region. I can’t say enough about how all members of our group were so impressed with all aspects of the day.
If there is availability, you will want to pick this tour!! Many thanks again to Michael and the vineyard families who made our day so special!
Our tour guide Mikel was great. The Douro valley is breathtaking! He took us to 2 amazing wineries & a fabulous Portuguese lunch. He went above & beyond to make us all comfortable & it was a great day! I’d highly recommend this tour.
Ruben made sure to keep us nice comfortable the whole time. The tour was wonderful and it was full of lots of wine. Douro valley was wonderful and such a delight to see. I love that the group is kept small and remains more intimate.
We had the most amazing time with Leo the other day! We went to two wonderful wineries, some viewpoints and he took great photos of us along the way. We loved the small group experience and the whole day was interactive and fun with excellent food and wine. We highly recommend this tour!
A fun packed day in a small group with lots of extra surprise experiences that wouldn’t be easy to do in a bigger group. Plenty of wines to sample with great pairings.
My husband, friends and I had a wonderful day out to the Douro Valley with Michael as our guide. He is knowledgeable about wine and the area, sharing information in a fun and informative manner and he kept the entire day moving seamlessly. We greatly enjoyed visiting the two family owned wineries and found everything about the excursion to be fantastic! Lunch and the 1 hour boat ride along the Douro River were splendid. The tour was a small group, (maximum 8 persons) and we traveled in a very comfortable van. Do not hesitate to book this tour-it is FANTASTIC! My husband and l spent a wonderful day with Leopoldo as our guide. He was informative, friendly and helpful. We visited two fabulous wineries, cruised the Douro River and ate a traditional Portuguese lunch. Leopoldo went above and beyond and we could not recommend this tour more highly if you enjoy good food, wine and great company.
Ruben was a 10 star top notch tour guide for this not to be missed experience! His vast historical knowledge and delightful sense of humor were enjoyed by all members of our group. We also appreciated the little things Ruben did for us to make our excursion even more special. The scenery was magnificent! The 2 wineries we visited were informative and hospitable. This was our favorite Porto experience!!
Andre was an amazing tour guide, funny, informative. Remembering everyone’s names made this trip feel much more personalized. His families vineyard was a wonderful experience. The views were priceless. Highly recommend.
Honestly, I think the second winery saved this tour for me. The gentleman who owns Quinta de Sta Maria vineyard was such a kind and knowledgeable man and taught us more than about wine. Our guide was also very nice and knowledgeable but two things kinda stood out that kept it from being a great tour: 1) the AC in the van was not working 2) we didn’t really spend as much time in Douro wine valley as I would have expected for it being the whole purpose of the tour. We drove an hour in between wineries and felt like that was a waste of time and also with no AC in nearly 80 degree weather was not fun. The food served to us was just ok but plenty as it also came with wine, dessert and espresso at the end:

Thank you for your review. We're sorry the tour didn't meet your expectations.
The AC issue in the rear vents has now been fixed — apologies for the discomfort. Regarding the restaurant, the menu changes daily, and we're sorry the food wasn't up to standard that day, the feedback for the restaurant is overwhelmingly positive.
As for the rest of the feedback, we feel it was a little unfair, our itinerary is clearly stated in the description. Covering two Portuguese DOC wine regions in one day requires significant driving (while respecting speed limits), which limits our time in places like the Douro Valley, the estate you indicated as your favorite is actually the one in the Vinho Verde wine region, not the Douro Valley...
Our main focus is showcasing the diversity and quality of Portuguese wines. That's why we offer generous tastings of still, sparkling, and fortified wines from different regions (over 15 wines in a single day!), with knowledgeable sommelier guides, this is clearly more than just a Douro Valley tour and that is not our main focus.
We're truly saddened you had a negative experience and apologize again for not meeting your expectations.

So much fun and we were completely taken care of, nothing was too much trouble for us. Wines were amazing, food lush. Boat trip was glorious. Highlight of our trip.
Our guide was very entertaining and made the day pass by quickly! We appreciated the presentations and tours by the wineries and great wine tastings!
We really love this experienced. Michael our tour guide is so nice and even helping the wineries served and taking pictures. The last vineyard we went was the best. They even give you sample of the wine. First one was also good. We will definitely recommend this tour. It’s worth the money you spent. The lunch alone is so worth it. Delicious food. Absolutely a must go. The tour was terrific, I can’t say enough about how amazing our guide Andre was. So much knowledge mixed with humor. Just an all round terrific guy who loves his home and the wines of this region. The tour really introduced me to some wines I would normally avoid and I found some ports I really love ( something I thought I hated because I was drinking the wrong types). Just a beautiful day with a nice small group.
Douro Valley is beautiful and this tour with Grape Journeys will get you there in a very personalized way. Andre provided narrative throughout and answered all our questions. His connections with the various stops along the tour seemed like a day out with some friends. The wines and wineries visited were outstanding. Beautiful scenery, well paced. This was a great day!!

This was such an amazing tour. Andre has a wealth of knowledge about winemaking, wines of the region, and beyond. We learned so much and had so much fun. The guides at the wineries were also funny and knowledgeable, each place was FULL of wonderful surprises. If you are looking for an authentic day in the duoro valley this is the place.
