I highly recommend this tour. It exceeded my expectation. Andre was very knowledgeable, friendly and funny. The first vineyard we stopped at was simply amazing. Very private and intimate experience. The wine tasting here was superb. Lunch was very good and the cruise down the Duro river was relaxing. The second vineyard was also great a little more on the standard side but very informative and the wine was also good. You will no regret booking this tour.

My husband, friends and I had a wonderful day out to the Douro Valley with Michael as our guide. He is knowledgeable about wine and the area, sharing information in a fun and informative manner and he kept the entire day moving seamlessly. We greatly enjoyed visiting the two family owned wineries and found everything about the excursion to be fantastic! Lunch and the 1 hour boat ride along the Douro River were splendid. The tour was a small group, (maximum 8 persons) and we traveled in a very comfortable van. Do not hesitate to book this tour-it is FANTASTIC! Thank you Michael for a completely memorable day-a highlight of our vacation! FIVE STARS PLUS FOR SURE!

My husband and l spent a wonderful day with Leopoldo as our guide. He was informative, friendly and helpful. We visited two fabulous wineries, cruised the Douro River and ate a traditional Portuguese lunch. Leopoldo went above and beyond and we could not recommend this tour more highly if you enjoy good food, wine and great company.

Ruben was a 10 star top notch tour guide for this not to be missed experience! His vast historical knowledge and delightful sense of humor were enjoyed by all members of our group. Honestly, I think the second winery saved this tour for me. The gentleman who owns Quinta de Sta Maria vineyard was such a kind and knowledgeable man and taught us more than about wine. Our guide was also very nice and knowledgeable but two things kinda stood out that kept it from being a great tour: 1) the AC in the van was not working 2) we didn’t really spend as much time in Douro wine valley as I would have expected for it being the whole purpose of the tour. We drove an hour in between wineries and felt like that was a waste of time and also with no AC in nearly 80 degree weather was not fun. The food served to us was just ok but plenty as it also came with wine, dessert and espresso at the end:

The AC issue in the rear vents has now been fixed — apologies for the discomfort. Regarding the restaurant, the menu changes daily, and we're sorry the food wasn't up to standard that day, the feedback for the restaurant is overwhelmingly positive.
As for the rest of the feedback, we feel it was a little unfair, our itinerary is clearly stated in the description. Covering two Portuguese DOC wine regions in one day requires significant driving (while respecting speed limits), which limits our time in places like the Douro Valley, the estate you indicated as your favorite is actually the one in the Vinho Verde wine region, not the Douro Valley...
Our main focus is showcasing the diversity and quality of Portuguese wines. That's why we offer generous tastings of still, sparkling, and fortified wines from different regions (over 15 wines in a single day!), with knowledgeable sommelier guides, this is clearly more than just a Douro Valley tour and that is not our main focus.
We're truly saddened you had a negative experience and apologize again for not meeting your expectations.

We really love this experienced. Michael our tour guide is so nice and even helping the wineries served and taking pictures. The last vineyard we went was the best. They even give you sample of the wine. First one was also good. We will definitely recommend this tour. It’s worth the money you spent. The lunch alone is so worth it. Delicious food. Absolutely a must go. The tour was terrific, I can’t say enough about how amazing our guide Andre was. So much knowledge mixed with humor. Just an all round terrific guy who loves his home and the wines of this region. The tour really introduced me to some wines I would normally avoid and I found some ports I really love ( something I thought I hated because I was drinking the wrong types). Just a beautiful day with a nice small group.

Douro Valley is beautiful and this tour with Grape Journeys will get you there in a very personalized way. Andre provided narrative throughout and answered all our questions. His connections with the various stops along the tour seemed like a day out with some friends. The wines and wineries visited were outstanding. Beautiful scenery, well paced. This was a great day!!

This was such an amazing tour. Andre has a wealth of knowledge about winemaking, wines of the region, and beyond. We learned so much and had so much fun. The guides at the wineries were also funny and knowledgeable, each place was FULL of wonderful surprises. If you are looking for an authentic day in the duoro valley this is the place.

Great guide, Andre, a vineyard owner, sommelier and member of local wine boards. Articulate and personable made the trip fun! Visited his family's vineyard where we toured and enjoyed tasting several wines abd fortified wines with olives, bread, olive oil and enjoyed participating and watching two different ways to open the bottles. On to lunch, delicious, a lovely boat ride on the Douro River then another vineyard with more tastings and meats, and cheeses. Andre gave each of us a small memento of his port and a photo album of the day!

Mikael was a wonderful guide and host. This tour is one that you cannot miss! It was a fantastic day and we were in brilliant company. Both wineries were brilliant and a great experience. All staff are very knowledge. As somebody who isn't a great wineries fan, I can confidently say I've been converted to a wineries lover! This is a relaxed and enjoyable day and not pretentious in the slightest. Book it now, you won't regret it and there are a few surprises along the way!

My husband and I would give this more stars if we could. This was our first experience in Portugal and set the bar very high for the rest of the trip. Andre and his team provide an incredible experience including expert wine knowledge, breathtaking views of the Duoro Valley, and a personalized approach to a busy tour. We highly recommend anyone looking for a tour of the Duoro Valley look no further. This was the highlight of our whole trip and we will definitely do it again.

We had a great time with Michel and Andre. Both were very knowlegeable and extremely engaging. We started the day as strangers and it felt as though we were friends by the end of the tour. It's an entirely different experience than the larger tours. The day was broken up into several locations and activities so it never felt we were in the car too long. It was a great experience and would highly recommend.

This really was the best tour of our trip. Our tour guide Leo was a sommelier and he was so great and knowledgeable. We loved him! We went to two family owned vineyards where the owners did the tours and they were both so informative and they really LOVE what they do! We enjoyed it so much. We didn’t want a big tour and we knew we didn’t want a private tour. We had 8 of us on the tour and it was perfect!! I would highly recommend this tour with grapes journeys.

This is a great tour. Leopoldo was very knowledgeable and gave great instructions for opening the bottle with a saber so I wouldn’t cut off my thumb. Ha ha. He took photos along the way and shared them with the group. Plus a few surprises that I won’t spill. Highly recommended.
