What To Expect
Discover the secrets of French baking with this unique culinary experience in Paris. Meet your host, a local chef, at their centrally located apartment. Tie on an apron and prepare to get busy in your host’s fully equipped private kitchen.
The exact recipes your host selects will vary by the day, but you can expect to prepare two or three different desserts. You may whip up French classics like tarte tatin, delicate lemon madeleines, or molten fondant au chocolate. The day’s menu may also include other sweet treats from around the globe.
Prepare to measure, mix, boil and bake under the watchful eye of your expert instructor. Learn professional tips for delicious results and chat about what it’s like to work as a professional chef in a city known worldwide for fantastic cuisine.
When the oven timer goes off, take a seat and enjoy your homemade desserts accompanied by coffee, tea or hot cocoa, and walk away with a recipe booklet and new skills at the end of class.

Chef Dominique was amazing. We made strawberry rhubarb tarts with fruit fresh from the market. Soft chocolate cakes and financiers. It was fun and delicious.

One of the best vacation experiences in our entire life. Chef Frederick was terrific. Hands on and educational, not to mention delicious. Highly recommended for any visit to Paris - there is no place better for a baking class!!

Chef Dominic Dury was a wonderful host and welcomed us into his apartment for the day’s lesson (3 hours + a bit more). The class size was 4, which was perfect for the room we were taught in. Anymore than that would have been tight. He taught us 3 desserts that were easily explained and made, which we ate there as they were finished and cooled. There were a few hacks (shortcuts) that I had never heard of as well. I would recommend this class to any baker who enjoys baking as a hobby.

I wasn’t sure what to expect with this class. For the price we paid ($350 for 2), I don’t think it was worth it. We were taught how to make 3 pastries, but we mostly watched. Frederic was an engaging host, but when we arrived there were no introductions or refreshments. We had to ask for water. Overall we ate some delicious dessert, but bring your own bottle of champagne if you want anything to drink!

The desserts were excellent and easy to make. Our chef was personable and professional, but she missed a bit on being a hostess. The apartment / kitchen was hot (but hey, it's Paris in the summertime, so I'm over that. Well, a better fan would have been nice.) And a bottle of water would have been good too.
We did get to eat what we made, but there was no offer of coffee or drink other than water. Wine would have been nice. After all, it's PARIS !!

Fred chef's lemon tarts and easy to make chocolate lava cakes were a real treat. He manages to blend flavours and textures all at the same time. And learning how to combine crunch and taste with a balance that is nuanced would be what the cook books cant capture.Also we had a wonderful time chatting about food and other countries in a very lovely home kitchen.

This was a lovely class but there were 8 people all cooking the same cake. So 1 person weighed the flour while we all watched. And then someone cut up butter…and we all watched. So for more than $100 you get to watch strangers cook while you get to mix a bowl for a few minutes. Cakes were yummy though and the chef was very very sweet and knowledgeable!

Chef Dominique welcomed us to his home which is not in the center of Paris as promised easy to reach by Metro but at least a 30 min transfer ride. He is charming, fun, and knows his way around food. We were the only two present. Presentation and opportunity to participate in the recipe-making was basic and pleasant enough but we felt something was missing for the price we paid. Maybe a glass of wine when we ate our meal would have been nice.

He was well prepared and had everything ready to go. He also did such a great job at explaining everything as we went. Highly recommend.
(Only thing is I'm still waiting on the recipes - can't wait to try them at home)

Our family group of 7 enjoyed this baking class. It was instructive and fun, and the results were delicious. It is quite expensive however, at more than 100/person for a 3-hour class. And 7 people is too large a group. Although we paid 850 for our group of 7, only the 3 children in our group did any baking the adults just watched there is not enough for 7 people to do in a small kitchen. In hindsight, we should have just signed up the 3 children 1 adult, but nothing in the course description indicated that a maximum of 3 or 4 is the ideal class size. One other suggestion is to make clearer on the Viator website the existence of and difference between alternative classes. I know now that there is this desserts class and also a macaroon class had I realized that before, we may have signed up for the macaroon class instead.

My granddaughter 7 yo and I took this class and it was a wonderful experience. Chef Dominique was a great teacher and since my granddaughter is a budding chef he let her do everything she knew how to do plus teaching us both new skills. The desserts we made were delicious and we have the recipes to make them again. This was a real treat for us to do together and I highly recommend this class for adults and children or both!

Frederick was great. Highlight of our trip. So much fun. Made 3 incredible desserts and learned a lot. His apartment was adorable and he was so much fun. Easy access as he lives right across the street from The Tube. He sent the recipes quickly and I can't wait to try them at home. Highly recommend!
