Fun tour!

James_P, Oct 2025
We enjoyed ourselves on the tour. Jorge took us to a few spots off the beated path. Started with some coffee and chocolate, then off to a brewery for a sampling of their beers and settled on a glass of IPA. Then we went to a 'fish market' really kind of a food court but had 3 kinds of ceviche, which were really good. We ended the tour at a roof top bar for a rum sampling and a nice view of the city. We enjoyed our time with Jorge, and recommend him for any tour.

Panama Food Tour 2025

AnnMarie_B, Aug 2025
Jorge was our guide and was very knowledgeable and friendly. Great stops and a wealth of information about Panama and it's food and cuisine! Thanks for a great evening!

Response from Host, Sep 2025

Thank you

There was only one stop...

Alan_A, Feb 2025
There was only one stop with food and one with a chocolate - 2 stops with just drinks so not a food tour

Response from Host, Feb 2025

So, what you are saying is the tour did and went to all the places we said we would in the description . but you can read or comprehend written word but feel entitled  to write and feel people should hear you roar.. got it We meet at 1 place to sample 2 highly sought after products from Panama (Geisha Coffee and Chocolate) and you sample them before we move on the Panama's 1st micro brewery.. Walk during sunset to the seafood market to sample ceviche at the local favorite and and return for a sample of our run on the roof the THE best view of the spectacular city skyline.. just like it says we do.. Until you learn to read, your written word/review worthless

Exceptional Tour

Christian_D, Dec 2024
The actual food that we ate was really representative of Panama. Would have loved to have more food throughout, however, showcasing more local cuisine. Despite this, it was an incredible experience. The guide was very personable, friendly, and knowledgeable.

Response from Host, Dec 2024

Thank you

Learned a lot and had fun!!

Jeff_H, Sep 2024
Our guide Jorge was amazing! What a cool tour of the city and the food and drink specific to the area!!

Response from Host, Sep 2024

Thank you

It was just the two of us...

Byron_W, Jun 2024
It was just the two of us but my partner and I really enjoyed this tour. We got a chance to hit up a couple local bars and the fish market. Definitely recommend this tour.

Response from Host, Aug 2024

thank you

Not a food tour

anita_h, Dec 2023
Jorge is friendly but the tour is not a food tour. Food tour should consist of multiple tastings of local cuisine. Chocolate, beer and a plate of ceviche don't represent Panamanian food scene. Jorge did recommend us to an excellent restaurant at the end of the tour but I am totally disappointed with this tour.

Response from Host, Jan 2024

I love these! The tour we do is EXACTLY what the description of the tour says we do.. the reviewers think they are Anthony Bourdain or something when really, it just shows that they cant read! We sample 5 Panamanian products.. but apparently this client makes makes the rule of what is and what is not a food tour.. funny. I can tell you what is and what is not a smart person

NOT a FOOD tour

Andrea_S, Dec 2023
Not a food tour despite the capital letters in the title. The plan was to start with coffee and chocolate, go to beer tasting. Then (finally) head to get ceviche (four of the five promised Panamanian dishes). However, due to the rain, the trip was redirected into another local bar, where, after half an hour and a bottle of rum for the table, a ceviche appetizer was finally delivered. If we had had an accurate description, we never would have booked this tour, especially with a family of non-beer drinkers (one underage).

Response from Host, Jan 2024

While you are on your soapbox.. please do describe to the world what exactly a food tour is (in your tiny little mind), just so we all know and can strive to satisfy you, my queen... oh yeah, in the description where it says you try beer and rum.. assuming you can read, you still booked even though you are non drinkers and have an underage kid.. soooo, you kinda just pointed out how smart you are in the review.. funny

Please Don’t Even Call This a Smpler Tour

Brett_C, Dec 2023
This was not even a “sampler” tour. We split a flight of beer and had to have extra glasses to split amongst four of us and then made a mess of the table. Guide was lost and confused most of the night and then had the nerve to ask for a tip. Not good. The fact that the owner of this tour is criticizing those (aggressively) those writing a negative review should tell you plenty.

Response from Host, Jan 2024

please learn how to read.. read the description (or have your mommy explain it) and then you can reflect and see, your review makes you an idiot.. apology will be accepted

A fun experience, interrupted.

Saralyn_T, Oct 2023
We (four of us) were having a great time with Jorge and the other visitors. Our tour got stopped by a protest, with tear gas nearby. We cut the place we were headed for and did just one more stop. It was fine, just took the shine off the whole thing.

Response from Host, Nov 2023

Soooo... 4 of 5 because of something that had nothing to do with us/the actual tour.. ok

Not really a food tour

Shelly_B, May 2023
I really enjoyed the guide. Jorge was very knowledgeable and friendly but I would not have called it a food tour. There was more beverage than food. It was the first time I finished a food tour hungry.

Response from Host, May 2023

Read the discription of the tour .. hope you managed to survive in the old town with only 100 restaurants to choose from to go to dinner after the tour that samples food/bev made in Panama

Lovey but not a food tour

Allison_N, May 2023
Jorge was a lovely knowledgeable guide, however this was not a food tour. We tried 1 food and cacao…and then tried coffee, beer and rum. It was more so a beverage and walking tour. We were so hungry after we had to go find dinner somewhere - I think this is mismarketed and should be rewritten as a waking your.

Response from Host, May 2023

Funny So the tour was EXACTLY as discribed and disigned to end on top of the old town with 100 restaurant to choose from for dinner.. i guess reading the discription would have helped you.. mismarketed or maybe you didnt read about the tour you booked.. hmm

More drink than food

jwaugh, Mar 2023
Went to a couple places that I wish I would have known about before the tour. The Food tour is a bit of a misnomer though, only had some food (ceviche) at one stop. A small cup of coffee at the beginning with a bit of chocolate, the rest was alcohol drinks which was ok with me! But, would have liked more food samples.

Response from Host, Mar 2023

You left out the ceviche! *and the 5th star

Highly recommend your

M_C, Mar 2023
This tour was very good, we got to taste Geisha coffe, 8 different beers at the popular Rana Dorada bar, Cheviche at one of the famous Fish Market restaurants and we finished off by tasting “abuelo rum” at a great roof top bar/ restaurant which provided fantastic views over the Panama City skyline snd the ocean. Jorge our guide was great. Very knowledgeable, friendly and informative.

Response from Host, Mar 2023

Thank you

Food and drinks in Casco Viejo

gilda_b, Mar 2023
Walking through Casco Viejo and sampling several of the delicacies from the local fare. The ambiance was inviting, enjoyed the camaraderie and all within walking distance. Jorge was a nice and informative guide.

Response from Host, Mar 2023

Bummer we got 4 not..5 Doesnt really help

It was a very basic tour....

James_K, Jan 2023
It was a very basic tour. Having lived in Panama for the past 7 years, there was nothing new for me.

Response from Host, Jan 2023

That is hilarious ! Imagine.. I lived in Italy for 100 years and did a food tour.. sooo disapointed , it was italian food.. I mean seriously.. did you really need to write this review. . nothing new FOR YOU but someone visiting Panama for the 1st time.. duh, of course it is new.. so this review damages our company, hampers people from getting the experience and makes you look stupid.. 3 strikes

Panama Food Highlights

Candace_H, Jan 2023
We love doing food tours to get to know a new place and this tour certainly didn't disappoint. Kevin was knowledge, not just on what was served but the history of Panama. The ceviche at the fish market was the highlight for the with foodies in our group. But honestly, a tour that starts with coffee and chocolate is a win from the start.

Response from Host, Jan 2023

You guys where great fun! Thank you

Tour was ok but not worth...

Jackie_B, Jan 2023
Tour was ok but not worth the money. Guide was adequate, could have talked about the history of the old town while walking. Was all ok just expensive for what it was compared to other tours we have been on.

Response from Host, Jan 2023

$50 Worlds#1 coffee Organic Chocolate (supplies German/Swiss chocolate companies) Fresh Ceviche 7 types of beer And a 7 y.o. rum... On a 2.5 hour tour.. And not worth 50 bucks.. Shocking

Great tour ~~

Sheri_S, Jun 2021
Gonzo was an amazing tour guide. He shared a wealth of information about the coffee, chocolates, beer, rum and ceviche we had. Always smiling ... we have a friend in Panama now!

Response from Host, Jul 2021

Thank You

TERRIBLE

Michael_G, Dec 2020
The tour ending was the most memorable part. What I am writing is the absolute truth, no filter, no opinion, just the facts. Prior to the start of my PANAMA CITY FOOD TOUR, I contacted Gonzalo and/or the company 3 times and each time asked if the tour was still on. 2. At no point did he ever say no. 3. He never changed the location or the time. 4. We arrived at 5pm and met up with with him. 5. He said that the place was about to close. 6. He then asked the place if they would allow us to sit down. 7. He then said that he was gonna look for the other couples. 8. There were no other couples. 9. He then brought us a half cup of coffee, black and asked us to share it. I explained to him that we paid for a food city tour for two people and should not be asked to share a half cup of straight coffee. 10. I then asked him, “where are we going next? What else is included in the tour? He then said, we will sample some rum, beer and ceviche.” 11. I asked him, where is the food? He then said that it is more of a sampler tour and then showed me the tour description from his job that mentioned, “sampler.” 12. I then showed him the description from Viator that listed it as a “Panama City FOOD Tour, with the word “food,” emphasized in bold. 13. I paid $130 US for a service that I did not receive. 14. The Food tour did not include pick up. We were asked to share a half cup of coffee (no exaggeration) and all of the places were closed or closing. The place where we were asked to share a half cup of coffee closed at 5pm and the tour was scheduled to start at 5pm. 15. I was issued half of my money back.

Response from Host, Dec 2020

There is a video shown on CNN of the whole tour which is acuratly descibed in the tour description.. so you dont even need to know how to read to know exactly what is included on this tour. We sample 5 panamanian food products while enjoying the historic old town and famous seafood market. You didnt do the rour, you stomped off like a baby and should be ashamed of yourself

I was a bit skeptical at our guide...

L_S, Aug 2018
I was a bit skeptical at our guide at first since Ross is not born and raised in Panama, but right away he proved to be very well-versed in all aspects of Panama. He has studied up on the historical and cultural aspects of Panama, and since he has lived in Panama a number of years, he takes pride in being a resident of Panama and keeps up with current issues. He even goes the extra mile to promote local Panamanian growers and to have visitors try the best Panamanian products out there. When we walked into the meeting place, we saw that Ross had already set up our table with local chocolate and coffee. As we tasted the products, we were introduced to the locally produced items. Ross was very informative about other flavors and types of products made by the same companies. Our next stop was the brewery to sample several types of beers. The many samples placed in small glassware were arranged on a wooden ship. It was very original and appropriate for an old port town feel. We chose our favorite and toasted to a start of a wonderful visit. Next, we talked about Panama's old towns and pirates as we strolled to our next destination and savored different types of fresh ceviche. Our last stop was the top floor of a restaurant which is known for its changing displays of local art work. With our guide's many years of connections, we were led to a prime spot at an open air bar with a gorgeous view of the city! Amazing taste of Old Town Casco Viejo with an experienced guide who takes care of all of the details so you can feel free to take in the unique experiences. An excellent guide and a wonderful intro to Panama. Definitely recommend! Ross is an expert in and out of the city and during our tour he was a wonderful resource. He was able to steer us away from what could have been a big disappointment involving a long drive and lots of effort. He knew exactly where we should go to find what we were looking for and pointed us in the right direction. Due to his guidance, we were able to do everything and see everything we wanted in just a few days including the highlights of seeing a mother and baby sloth just a meter away in their natural habitat as well as a baby and mama whale. There were even extras along the way as we had not planned to go to an almost secluded beach and walk around a very peaceful and charming Contadora Island. It was almost as if we had reserved the island for ourselves!

Total confusion

Candra_R, Jul 2018
I booked this tour 1.5 prior and Viator accepted my booking and charged me. The next day the tour operator advise there is no tour and wasn’t sure why/how I was able to book online. Still waiting for my refund!
