This was great! Highly...

This was great! Highly recommend if you want a quicker travel time in a small group. The hosts were great and informative. Nice and smooth!

Great half-day experience

Rochelle_W, Dec 2025
A great way to see the Neuschwanstein Castle! Our experience itinerary was: - meet at the train station and jump on for an hour train ride - take a car for another hour to the town where the castle is located - have free time to go to the Marien Bridge before our tour (best view of the castle from the outside) - go through the Neuschwanstein Castle guided tour - have a bit of free time to visit the castle cafe before walking down to the meeting spot - return the way we came It was the perfect amount of time at the castle and everything was taken care of for us. They even had water and pretzels for us when they picked us up. Just be on time for pick up! We left some group members behind because they could not be found and we had a train to catch.

Worth the trip

Tina_S, Jun 2025
Very easy transfer to the beautiful castle and pleasant driver . The ride was beautiful to the castle as well

First time using Viator. Worked like a charm. Wanted help navigating travel from Munich to castle and back. Everything was well organized and very straightforward. Drivers and gentleman that met us for the trail were all helpful and polite. Driver gave some information during drive but I had trouble hearing being in the last row of van. Not his fault just too far back to hear.

Stunning!

Wendy_M, Dec 2024
Beautiful tour! Giide got us all efficiently on the train and transferred to vans! Was a great experience!

Was expensive and you...

karen_b, Dec 2024
Was expensive and you don’t get a lot of time but we did enjoy the trip by train van and bus it have snowed so was magical

Just plan it your self.

Albert_R, Dec 2024
The only thing included in the excursion was getting you there and back. This is something I could have done my self by simply taking the rail to Füssen and then arranging for transportation from Füssen to the Neuschwanstein Castle. I was provided a ticket and transportation to and from. I could have done this myself for 1/4 of the price. I would recommend the experience if you plan it your self. The price of admission comes with a narration. There was no tour guide. You are dropped off and told to go up the mountain via horse carriage or bus (you must pay for this your self). If the weather is nice you walk up the mountain yourself.

Perfect half day tour

Laura_P, Dec 2024
We loved our tour guide! We felt it was the perfect amount of time to explore and we didn’t feel rushed. The castle was beautiful and I definitely recommend going. It was so nice to get last minute tickets through this tour, and it took all of the stress out of traveling from Munich.

The tour was really just a prepackaged set of publically available transportation and ticketse

Ken_H, Oct 2024
The castle tour was nice, but just a audio script in various rooms. No details, no Q&A options. The castle was impressive, but I could have set this up what was provided myself8

Worth it!

Denise_B, Oct 2024
Guide was so nice and ensured we had easy transportation, castle was stunning, overall 10 out of 10.

Long Commute/Short Visit

Mike, Sep 2024
The trip was rushed. The time to get from the drop off point to the castle was compressed. Also, the time table to return was tight and did not allow any time for lunch or souvenirs. I also thought there would be a quick tour of the second castle, but we only saw it from the parking lot. If you take this trip understand you have 4 hours of travel and 35 minutes in the castle.

Do it yourself

Shannon_P, Sep 2024
It was extremely rushed and we hardly had any time to walk around the castle or the town. The horses are slow, so if you don't get on one immediately, you have to take the bus or walk the hill up. The train they drop you off takes twice as long to get back as getting there. You are basically just paying a high premium for someone to book your tickets for you.

Not worth what you pay for what you get.

Elaine_S, Sep 2024
This is a group that buys your tickets on public transportation for you and takes you by van from the train to the base of the castle area. They charge a lot for that service. And you are rushed through to make the train they put you on.

Race through the Storybook Castle

DAVID_R, Aug 2024
Very poorly organized. Two in our group of 6 walked with canes, which guide was aware of before hand. Meeting instructions for train were cryptic. Guide took the wrong route to get to the shuttle bus, causing us to almost miss it, had to FIGHT to get on! Then LONG walk UPHILL over cobbles before the hundreds of interior steps inside the castle. Would have been ok, but for the MASSIVE time pressure, no stopping for photos, snacks (many venues) or bathroom. Equally long AND RUSHED race back down, of course. Would use a different tour, if EVER again.

Loved the castle, but…

Cath_B, Jan 2024
Very friendly guides. Unfortunately we were popped on a local bus and public train at the end of the tour. Long and noisy way to end the day! Lots of money for mostly public transport and group tour of castle.

We loved the tour! It was but well organized and informative. I wish the would be a little bit more time to roam around though.

Beautiful castle

Andrew_C, Dec 2023
Castle is truly beautiful. We were lucky to have a beautiful sunny day. Expensive tour but they got us there and back in half a day.

Great experience

mrarronscott, Dec 2023
Was a last minute booking so a it was more expensive than other tours. This was our only chance to get a tour and we really enjoyed it. Was worth the extra money to not miss out. Would recommend.

Expensive and not really worth the time spent

HE_T, Dec 2023
logistics were a bit off . The castle is partly under renovation. The “guide “ was an audio system. Very expensive for what we got.

Better than you’d think!

Cindy_W, Dec 2023
Transportation was easy despite a train strike, our guide made alternate plans and kept the trip less stressful for all

Stressful end to a great experience

Joshua_P, Oct 2023
I was a little worried to do this as I had read bad reviews but we decided to do it last minute and this was only option to get a ticket. It started well with someone meeting us on time at Munich train station. We took the train and got in a van for the rest of the drive. The drive definitely added to the experience. There was beautiful foliage and views of the Alps. It was beautiful. We got to the castle and had more than enough time to do the walk up, and do Mary’s Bridge before our tour time. The tour was quick but enjoyable. We then took pictures on the balcony, got a snack, watched the movie, saw the old kitchen and descended by foot. We had time to walk to the lake and take pictures of more lovely foliage. The trip turned south when our driver did not meet us at 11:55 which was time that was stated. After 30 minutes and hearing nothing, we called 2 taxis. We knew we had missed the train but there were more trains leaving. Just as the taxis pulled up, the driver came and apologized and said he had lost his phone. He ended up driving us to a station closer to Munich and catching the same train. I guess all is well that ends well but there was some stressful moments that shouldn’t have happened. I also had to pay for 3 people as a minimum to do this. I understand the van part but why am I being charged for trains and tickets that they didn’t have to buy? In a way I would recommend it because the drive part totally added to the enjoyable experience but I’d be worried about the reliability.

Missing details. Late driver.

Kim_R, Oct 2023
So many things not explained in the description. It is NOT a private tour. It is a public ticket where you listen to a device while going through a small portion of the castle with 30 people. The tour itself is only 30 mins long! The views are amazing and the interiors we did see were stunning, but actually very small considering the size of the castle. The logistics of getting there were confusing. We were told to meet on a train platform. We were unsure exactly where to go and the guide wasn’t there until 4 mins before the meet time. Then you take a train, then a van to the base of the castle — long trip. Then you either walk 30 mins uphill or pay to take a bus or to take a horse carriage. That was not explained anywhere and why isn’t that included? .Then when we were done, our driver was nowhere to be found. Was 30 mins late so we had called a taxi as thought we’d been abandoned there. That meant we missed the train so he drove to a different station to get us back. Very unprofessional and not what we expected from a Viator tour. I can’t recommend this tour as logistics are not reliable and the tour itself was ridiculously short.

Nice castle visit

Gary_G, Oct 2023
Tour was managed well, but communication could have been improved. We were not sure what we were supposed to be doing at times. Overall a very nice trip though.

Great day.

Martha_B, Oct 2023
We were thrilled to snag a ticket at the last minute to Neuschwanstein. The driver and organizer were father and son and very nice. We only had time to see the castle and Mary’s Bridge. It is nice to avoid all ticket lines for train , tour and return train ride. EASY!!

A great excursion and worth it!

Andora_S, Sep 2023
We knew what we signed up for and got exactly what we expected! The half day tour was worth it and the employees friendly and knowledgeable. Tip: wear extremely comfortable shoes and layers! Nice touch: we were greeted after our tour with fresh pretzels from our driver!

Great way to visit the castle.

Richard_W, Sep 2023
Although the castle tour was a little rushed, that had nothing to do with this service. That is just the way the castle works. Our transportation was seamless and easy. The driver from the train to the castle was friendly and pointed out things around the area that were interesting. You need to keep in mind that the tour is the castle…not everything in between your starting point and there. It is essentially a travel service and tickets that you are buying, but the convenience and guarantee of tour tickets made this a good service for our group.

Great tour and the hosts...

Marisa_B, Sep 2023
Great tour and the hosts were amazing. We mixed up the time to be back to the bus - they waited for us and ensured we made our train home. Fantastic experience, can’t thank you enough!

It was a weird experience but our driver was nice.

Grace_L, Sep 2023
It was a bit of a weird experience to be honest. Showed up at the main station with nothing showing us who we were supposed to meet. I just by chance saw a guy with a clipboard and asked if he was the viator guide. We were then directed to another woman who took us onto the train and helped us transfer. Once we got to the final train station she lead us to the van, once in the van she jumped out of the car in the middle of a road and apparently the driver was our new point of contact. Once we arrived to the castle the driver was helpful in giving us all the information we needed. He even gave us pretzels and water upon returning to the van to take us back to the trains. Overall the driver was great but the whole experience was just really weird and disjointed. It felt very odd and disjointed the whole time. I should also bring up that I called viator ahead to ask about details of this trip and make sure we didn’t have to ride a train and they said it was a small bus that would be taking us. That was clearly a lie. I asked 3 times and was assured it was a car/bus.

Great experience

Ashley_G, Sep 2023
The trip was efficient and organized. Lhudo handled the train tickets to the castle and the return train ride back, advanced admission tickets and drove part of the way there with his team in several vehicles. It was nice to drive through the countryside. He also provided us with water a snack after visiting the castle. This is not a guided tour in the sense that Lhudo and his team will walk you around and provide a tour. He provides transportation and the advanced tickets. Tour guides are not permitted to provide a guided tour in the castle as the castle already provides this. I really liked the half day excursion. We were back at the München station by 2:45 pm. Most tours take 12-13 hours depending on the tour. And the road traffic on the way back is awful!! I am so glad we ended up taking the train back from Fussen instead of driving the rest of the way back. Traffic was backed up for miles in the town and it would have taken hours to get out of there as there are only 2 lanes.

Not a tour

Logan_B, Jul 2023
The tour wasn’t really a tour. The man was nice, met us at the train station, bought us a ticket to another town. There we hoped in a van and drove to the castle site. There he left us. He returned and bought us a train ticket back. So it’s not really a tour as much as it’s 3rd party transportation. And even then it’s 75 percent train usage.
