Francesca was THE BEST tour guide. Every taqueria we stopped at was amazing. We did not have to stand in line. She was very knowledgeable about the food and mezcal and we left with full stomachs and new friends. She also shared information about the culture, neighborhoods and people and we were in good hands all the way! This tour is a must do if you’re in Mexico City.

Itinerary

Get an insider's perspective on Mexico City cuisine as you make your way to a series of evening eateries. Kick off your tasting evening in the San Rafael borough with Norteño-style tacos, with culinary influences from the regions of northern Mexico, then a little walk for tacos hot from the griddle with hand-made tortillas.

After a drive around beautiful neighborhoods and sites, wash down the tacos at an underground mezcal bar in Mexico City. The bar’s resident mezcal master walks you through the tastes of traditional mezcal, exploring the sweet, smoky, floral, and herbal flavors of the pre-Hispanic drink. Then head to the next taqueria in Roma Norte where you taste a contemporary, creative take on tacos.

The last stop of the evening is for the very popular al pastor tacos, which uses spit-roasted meat that adapts Middle Eastern techniques to local ingredients and flavors. Your evening of mezcal and tacos concludes at the final taqueria, in the bustling Cuauhtemoc neighborhood.

This was an amazing tour - we visited so many great taco places, skipping lines in the process, and experiencing different styles and takes on tacos from corn to wheat tacos, from steak to al pastor, and had a great time doing it. I wasnt sure going in, but cant say enough about how much fun this tour was, and we were stuffed by the end - I think we ended up with 9-10 tacos each.

This tour was great! Fernanda was an excellent tour guide who had a ton of knowledge about the different stops on the tour and about the city in general. The tacos were awesome, and I was definitely full at the end of the tour. They were a good mix of different types and flavors which made it really cool. It was a good mix of walking and driving between stops. I did this tour on my first day in the city which was really helpful for getting familiar with the city. Would definitely recommend this tour to others.

Excellent tour. I was running about 10 minutes late due to traffic and to be fair the guide waited for us. The tour was excellent and I was surprised with the amount of food. I thought it would be 1 taco per stop. Some were 2 tacos. I think 9 in total and the stop to the bar for the mezcal tasting was excellent. Highly recommend this tour. I would do it again. Very well organised.

A fantastic engagement with some of the best tacos in the city. It was entertaining, informative, and efficient. Sure, you could visit all of these locations yourself, wait in lines, do the research, schedule the transportation, and read countless blogs and articles about tacos and mezcal. Or, you could put your time in the hands of an expert and do all that within 4 hours (and probably better than you could do yourself if we are honest). Time is money, and after this tour, it was well worth my money.

Fernanda (sp?) was our host for the tour. We were driven to many different stops around the city. The transportations/driver was excellent. We tasted 9 tacos and they were all different. The food really covered the span of tacos from traditional and modern including a Michelin star taco stand. We had a fun night. The tour was only 4 people so very personable. Fernanda was sweet and a good source of knowledge. Highly recommend. We are major foodies and love Mexico City.

This experience was a BLAST!! But I also think it was because of the people who joined. I loved that it was a small group of 6, which made the experience more intimate and enjoyable. I was actually able to get to know the group and we had some major laughs. Natalia, the tour guide was sweet and knowledgeable. The cost value proposition of the experience was worth it. It happened to rain heavily on our tour, so the bus we were provided came in handy to a fault. The tacos were fantastic and the variety we received was excellent. I would most definitely recommend this tour AND even go on it again!

Our tour guide was lovely and the tour was a great way to get a feeling for a few neighborhoods and what the locals eat, but unfortunately both my partner and I got very ill that evening after the tour and had to stay in bed the next two days of our trip. We were careful about drinking bottled water so we think it was from one of the stops on the tour. Perhaps the tour needs to better vet the stops to be sure that the cleanliness of each shop is up to serving sensitive American stomachs

The tacos were all great, but the Al Pastor at Taquería Selene was next level — seriously the best I’ve ever had. The mezcal was delicious too, and I learned a lot. Experience was pretty good. Don’t think the group should be so large….prefer to cap it around 4 to 6 people for the price. Also one of the 6 taco places was closed so we were a little ripped off for what we paid and the experience promised. Also this is not really a walking tour. We rode a bus around to the different neighborhoods which was actually very convenient and comfortable. And the mezcal is not tasted throughout the tour but rather all at once at a single bar towards the end of the tour. Overall good experience but value for price was a little disappointing. However our guide Andres was excellent and attentive and we were really happy with his explanations and guidance.

We know street food is the way to experience the culture in Mexico City but it can get overwhelming as there are so many options! We opted for the tour and it was the perfect activity.
