Your Maui complete-island helicopter tour begins at Kahului Heliport, where you board a luxurious, air-conditioned helicopter with comfortable leather seats. Your professional tour guide and expert pilot talks to you through your headset, before lifting off and immediately soaring over fields of waving green sugar.
Throughout this helicopter tour, many of Maui’s most amazing sights emerge before you, from the verdant valleys of the West Maui Mountains to the inside of Haleakala Crater. Buzz above the Hana coast and the famous Road to Hana, and see many more waterfalls and crystalline pools than you would from the seat of a car.
After cruising above the lunar landscape of Haleakala volcano, your pilot turns the helicopter toward the rugged West Maui Mountains. Hear the geology, history, and lore behind these sacred, forested ridgelines, and emerge at the fabled “Wall of Tears” that drips with dozens of falls.
While flying above the West Maui coast, get aerial views of neighboring Molokai and the legendary, 4,000-foot (1,220-meter) sea cliffs. In winter it’s sometimes even possible to spot humpback whales from the sky.
Back on land at Kahului Heliport, you can purchase a souvenir USB containing footage of your flight, complete with the pilot’s narration and Hawaiian music in the background.

- Total weight per passenger: 240 lbs
- Confirmation will be received at time of booking, unless booked within 3 days of travel. In this case confirmation will be received within 48 hours, subject to availability
- Not wheelchair accessible
- Infants must sit on laps
- Most travelers can participate
- Weight restrictions: For a single passenger booking weighing 240lbs or more, a combined weight (2 passengers) of 420lbs or more or for groups of 3 or more an average weight of 200lbs or more an additional seat must be purchased at the time of booking. This is for the safety and comfort of all passengers on board.
- We ask that all passengers wear dark clothing to help have less reflection in the windows when flying and therefore you can get better photos during your tour
- All passenger weights MUST be advised at time of booking. Under representation of body weight may result in cancellation at check-in with no refund.
- Not wheelchair accessible. There is no wheelchair lift to accommodate wheelchair passengers nor can the staff personally/physically assist people into the helicopter
- Flight routes & sights may vary due to weather.
- Infants under 24 months must sit on an adult lap. PLEASE CONTACT AIR MAUI IF BRINGING AN INFANT. Over 24 months must occupy their own paid seat. We follow the same FAA regulations as the airlines.
- Please contact Air Maui directly 808-877-7005 for your check in and departure time at least 72 hours prior to your flight!
- Helicopter is a shared cabin holding up to 6 passengers and one pilot on each tour.
- No bags allowed on board. This includes a purse, fanny pack, backpack, etc.
- Customers must pay for parking with the QR code at the entrance of the heliport. We have the QR code in our office as well. CREDIT CARD ONLY.
- This tour/activity will have a maximum of 6 travelers

The windows had glare, so the media package is worth it. Great memories and beautiful scenery. Might try the doors off option next.

Not guaranteed that you’ll fly. Weather issue prevented the flight 2 days in a row.
The 2nd day the staff were rude.

All flights are weather permitting so there is never a guarantee that you will fly. Safety is top priority and our pilots will not fly if it is unsafe or you aren't going to see anything. I apologize about the weather not working out for you to fly with us.

Great flight, even though we got rerouted due to cloud cover over Haleakala. Vince gave us a great tour of West Maui and Molokai.
Decent photos from rear seats aren’t really possible as the small curved plastic windows distort the viewand reflect helicopter internals.

Obviously weather plays a factor in this tour. We had an auditable the morning of because of the weather but we did get to see numerous waterfalls on Molokai. Drew, the pilot was great and narrated the tour with just enough info. Not overloading us with history or info.
The helicopter is seated by weight since weight & balance is critical in aircraft. If you don’t get a window seat, the pilot does a very good job in balancing out the views so it’s not always shown in one side. Wear dark colored clothes so you don’t reflect on the windows, this eliminates you showing up in the photograph unintentionally.
The ride was smooth and music was playing in the background while inflight. I’d suggest doing this early in your visit to get a good sense of island and topo as well as where you may want to visit in your trip.

The tour was well run and the pilot was full of great information about Maui. He flew very gently and the views were amazing. Only way to see the wall of tears! Would recommend, but don’t forget the Dramamine if prone to motion sickness.

This is a must-do when traveling to Hawaii. There is so much to see by air. Maui Air has great customer service! There was a snag with the timing of the booking, and Maui Air was in constant communication, so we could fly close to our time. They also comped our picture and video. Unforgettable memory!

Worst helicopter tour ever! I would not book through Viator again. More expensive and not a true representation of very old equipment. Shortest person on the flight with the worst view. Ride passengers in front that had their own phones blocking any possible shots with hillbilly elegy next to me manspreading his dumb ass with no regard! Worst!!!

Paid for private tour for family if 4. Could not enjoy because they fit 2 more people on helicopter My family has 3 grown men It was so tight my sons knees were red from being smashed against seat. My other son couldn’t turn to see any views He was only able to see the pilots head.

The pilot Drew made the whole experience amazing!
I went with daughter and as she’s pointing things out her window to me, Drew would say don’t worry I’ll swing around so you can have a better view.
He is also a local, so he showed us and told us so many interesting things from his experiences.
Drew flew right up to waterfalls so you could even see down them, pointed out a rainbow forming over Lahaina, and then said now let’s see if we can find whales at the end of the season and he did!

Trip of a lifetime. You'll get to see lots of waterfalls + inside the volcano, the observatory, mango groves, and fly over clouds, Hana & the ocean. There's music & pilot explanation accompaniment the whole way, and they'll make a video and 1 photo you can buy at the end. Staff was great leading up to the fly day and will hold your bag at the desk while you fly if needed; loved that they emailed directions. Our Uber driver's app had a tough time finding it, but my GoogleMaps keyed to the correct address fine. Wear dark clothes to avoid reflection on the windows to facilitate photo taking. Definitely worth the money, esp if you've never done a helicopter tour. Thanks, Air Maui!

All personnel were professional and knowledgeable. Only disappointment was we were in back seat right behind pilot and got VERY few pictures. For cost of ride, wish we could have taken home pics to share.
