Unforgettable way to experience Blue Grotto and the caves — miles better than the boat trips

If you want a genuinely different way to see Blue Grotto and the surrounding caves, do this instead of the standard boat tour. Every other option along this stretch of the south coast is a 15-minute boat trip past the caves — this was hours of actually being out there on the water, at our own pace. We went out early, before the boat traffic started, and it genuinely felt like we had Blue Grotto and the caves to ourselves. The water was unbelievably blue and clear, and being able to jump off the SUP to swim and snorkel right there in the caves is something you just can’t do on a boat trip. Tibor was our guide and he was brilliant — friendly, clearly very experienced, and really patient with us since it was our first time on a SUP. He made sure everyone was comfortable and confident on the water before heading further out, and it made the whole experience feel relaxed rather than rushed. He also took loads of photos and videos throughout, so we didn’t have to worry about capturing anything ourselves — we could just soak in the scenery and enjoy it. Honestly can’t fault it. If you want a genuinely unique way to see this part of Malta rather than the same boat trip everyone else does, this is it. Highly recommend.
