Denia did a very nice job showing us around Lucca. We had come in for the day from Florence as we had heard it was a lovely city. It was a nice way to get to know the city by walking around and sitting to eat and drink and hear about the city. Denia gave us some more tips of things to see after our tour before we left on the train back to Florence.

Lovely day walking around old Lucca and tasting authentic foods. Food portions were generous but wine offerings were not. We were offered a glass of wine with the antipasti at our first stop but after that, if you wanted wine, you had to pay extra. That was a first for us as (typically) wine is included. Especially with the main meal. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. The group was quite small which made it nice.

I am so pleased we did this tour in Lucca. We walked to the first restaurant and shared a platter of meat & cheese (with wine if you wanted) onto the next where we had ravioli with meat sauces (there were alternatives) then to a pizzeria for a chick pea flat bread and pizza tasting, from here it was a traditional patisserie where we tried the bread with raisins & fennel & a traditional Christmas cake!! Finally, a chocolate shop where some of the group had ice cream & others hand made chocolates. I could pop!!!

Make sure you’re hungry because you’ll definitely get your money’s worth of food on this tour. I had Alessandra and she was lovely, stopping along the way to point out some historical tidbits and sights.

Our guide Giordano was fantastic. We learned not just history of Lucca but also Tuscany. The experience was great. Of the 5 courses- three were fantastic. However was surprised only one glass of wine was included amongst the 5 courses. The only only reason I rated 4 stars instead of 5 is the price seemed too high for the total food/wine value.

THe guide were very informative and we tasted great food, but very little, I was hungry after. Maybe its because it was only me and I paid a double ticket to have the tour, I expected more.

Best way to Experience Lucca

Highly recommend this tour! Nicolette, our guide was incredibly knowledgable about the Food of Lucca and about the history of the city. The food was great and the conversation was better. In addition to learning about the Food of Lucca, we also enjoyed touring many historical areas around Lucca. It was truly a great way to experience Lucca. And Nicolette was kind enough to offer suggestions on other places of interest to travel in Italy and on how to make connections with other Italian-Americans from Lucca. Truly an amazing experience.

Giulia our guide for this tour was most pleasant and knowledgeable. She has a fun personality and that made the experience even better! By the time we took her tour we had already been walking around Lucca as we had an apartment we were staying in and were familiar with the town but her knowledge helped fill in some blanks. And how can you possibly have a bad experience with Italian cuisine??
