If you do one thing in Lagos, make it this walking tour and ask for Tiago.
I’d arranged a private tour after the group didn’t have enough bookings, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions of my trip. Tiago was born and raised here, and that makes ALL the difference. He didn’t just walk me through the history - he shared the little stories of growing up inside these walls, how life in Lagos has changed, what it’s really like to live here. You can’t get that from a guidebook.
We wandered the Old Town, walked the ancient walls, and made our way down to the beach. He knew every corner. He also suggested places to eat and drink that tourists simply don’t find on their own — the kind of spots locals actually go to.
And if that wasn’t enough, he stopped to take photos for me along the way — including some yoga poses on the cliffs! 🙏
I would do this tour again in a heartbeat. Tiago is the real deal — knowledgeable, warm, funny, and genuinely proud of his hometown. It felt less like a tour and more like exploring with a friend who happens to know everything.

Tiago was an excellent guide. Having grown up in Lagos, he was able to inject into the tour his personal experiences and insights. The tour was extensive and covered historical as well as geographical sights. Tiago also recommended a number of things for us to see and do during our visit to Lagos.
