Itinerary

Meet your official tour guide in central Granada in the morning, and begin with a visit to the city’s famous Alhambra citadel, a legacy of Spain’s Moorish golden age that sits majestically atop Sabika Hill.

Skip the entrance lines with your reserved ticket, and head straight inside the impressive royal complex that was once home to the sultans and nobles of the powerful Nasrid dynasty. During a 3-hour tour, listen to the rich history of Spain's Muslim rulers as you walk through the apartments, gardens, and architecturally stunning courtyards that have inspired countless artists and writers.

Take a break for lunch in the city center (own expense) before an afternoon exploration of the Albaicín, Granada’s well-preserved Arab quarter and oldest neighborhood. See historic highlights like the Plaza Nueva, Darro River, and Bañuelo hammam (Arab bathhouse), and admire dramatic views of the Alhambra from the San Nicolas lookout. Step inside 14th- and 15th-century Nasrid palaces like the Horno de Oro, home to the mother of Granada’s last sultan, where you’ll learn about the private lives and legacies of these Moorish nobles.

Anis was a great guide!...

Anis was a great guide! He was very friendly, and knowledgeable, and provided insightful descriptions on Alhambra, its cultural importance and historical significance, while being very efficient with his time management.

This is the first time that I've ever taken a guided tour and to be honest I only booked it because I was too late to get an unguided ticket. However I am now a convert as the experience was so good. Our guide Edu was a really nice knowledgeable chap who was able to share his enthusiasm in an infectious way. We were able to get way more out of our trip than if we'd gone around on our own. The Albaicin was a bonus that we weren't really expecting to bother with as we thought we'd be too tired. However Edu made the area come alive and we saw and learned way more than if we'd strolled around on our own. All other aspects such as meeting up, headsets and the pace were all very good

Excellent tour. Guide first language...

Excellent tour. Guide first language was French but spoke clear English. She explained a lot. We went back to the Alhambra after the Albaicin tour and just wandered around. It is a lot of walking and the Albaicin area is uphill. Our guide explained to some folks how to use bus to get up there but they chose to walk albeit very slowly.

The two tours on the same day were too...

The two tours on the same day were too much in one day for this pensioner, therefore only giving 4 stars. For me, it would have been easier to visit the Alhambra and Generalife in the morning, as we did, and start as early as possible to beat the heat of the day, but defer the Albaicin for another day. Our Alhambra guide was outstandingly good - knowledgeable and eminently likeable - she was lovely vivacious and brought the whole tour to life. After the Alhambra, the late afternoon tour of the Albaicin felt distinctly underwhelming interesting historically, but not all so impressive. Again, our guide was very good and instructive. Take a modest bottle of water with you and refill it at the numerous drinking fountains in the Alhambra. Large rucksacks and pushchairs strollers are not permitted inside some of the palaces - check beforehand. Light refreshments and drinks can be bought on the way round, also, there is a Parador in the grounds, with a good quality restaurant and a terrace for lighter meals, both of which are open to non-residents.
