Greet your private guide at your centrally located Granada hotel and climb aboard a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle destined for the spectacular Sierra Nevada National Park.

Along the way, you’ll admire dramatic mountain scenery as you approach the entrance to the national park. Gaze at the soaring peaks of Velata mountain and the 11,194-foot (3,392-meter) high Mulhacen, Spain’s highest mountain, while you receive an information-rich introduction to the region.

Spend a balanced combination of guided and free time exploring Sierra Nevada National Park: stroll through deciduous forests, dense oak groves and ancient chestnut trees, and see a diverse range of fascinating flora and fauna.

More than 20 species of butterfly inhabit the national park so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the colorful creatures while you walk.

After thorough exploration, you’ll begin the return journey to Granada and revitalize with traditional tapas during a stop along the way.

Having been unable to get tickets...

Having been unable to get tickets for the Alhambra we decided we would like to get out of the city and head for the hills! This was an excellent trip up to Sierra Nevada which still had some snow on the tops. The ski season is finished so the area was very quiet. OUr guides were excellent and very knowledgeable about the area and its history. Not a full day but we were back in time for a siesta and then to see some more of Granada.

If you want to see the Sierra Nevada mountains this was a very enjoyable way to experience it. Michael our tour guide was terrific, the views were spectacular and it was nice to have the flexibility of being on a private tour. When we showed up to meet Michael he was already there and the vehicle you provided was very comfortable. It truly was a memorable tour.

A nice drive up into the mountains, but the main 'destination' to explore when we left the vehicle was a closed ski resort. The alternative 'mountain' excursion from Granada, to Las Alpujarras, may have more interesting stop-offs with picturesque villages to explore?
