Great tour guide, but…

For the amount of money that was charged per person ($128/person), this was a rather disappointing experience. We purchased expecting to be able to hike to high altitudes to see snow, the lagoons, close views of the mountain etc. But what we got was a 2.5 hr hike through one of the local trails (with a far view of the mountain) and then lunch (not included in fee) and , after a long drive to the highest accessible point by car. The tour guide was great. He was very knowledgeable and friendly and made sure everyone in the group felt included. I could tell he is passionate about his work. That’s why it’s 3/5 stars instead of a lower rating. A disclaimer needs to be made somewhere that the experience may not be as advertised in the description and each tour will be different. Plus the pictures in the description are not a guarantee of what you will see. Not sure I’d book with this company again, but would consider other experiences with the guide if he has different tours.

Thank you Tracy for taking the time to write to us. We are sorry that the tour did not meet your expectations. Indeed, Carlos is a great guide and we appreciate the recognition that we have already conveyed to him. Tell you that the visit they made was 100% in the Sierra Nevada Natural Park. As it is winter and there is so much snow, it is not safe to climb to high peaks since there is ice and it is dangerous. In summer and spring lagoons are actually visited, not now in winter since they are under the snow itself. It is a very changeable activity for meteorological reasons. And safety comes first.

I followed a cultural trip to the Alhambra with this nature trip which was a great choice - beautiful (gentle) walk in the snow for beautiful views, great guide focussing on authentic local encounters and exchange - only downside that it was too early for spring blossoms, the views along the scenic drive when fields of cherry trees are in bloom must be out of this world
