The private tour far exceeded our expectations. Esther and the four of us were excited to hear of the history of the area as well as the evolution of the fortress and the castles. The multiculturalism was fascinating. The Palace of the Lions was my favorite, but some of the group preferred the gardens of Generalife. Esther was great as she described each element of the complex in amazing detail. She also answered our numerous questions.

The start was a bit stressful, as I had booked a tour for 10:00am. I got a message at 12:30am telling me the time needed to be pushed back to 9:30am. We arrived at about 9:15am, and so my husband went to get coffee. While he stepped away, our tour guide called asking where we were because our tour was supposed to start at 9:00am. This made the start a bit rushed, and I wonder what would have happened if I hadn't seen the message at 12:30am.
Our tour guide Ester was excellent. She provided a lot of information, recommended the best places for photographs, and gave us a little time to explore each area. We did not feel rushed during the tour. I would definitely recommend doing a tour with Ester. I am really happy we decided to take a tour and not just wander through on our own. We had a private tour on the 8th of October, 2024 and our guide was excellent. His knowledge of the history and the Alhambra was extensive. He allowed us to go at our pace and we were able to see the whole area, all structures and the gardens. The ability to avoid lines and have such a personal experience was worth the investment. The Alhambra was the reason we traveled to Granada and our expectations were exceeded.

The place is magical but her explanations and rich pieces of history makes this even more wonderful

We just returned from a combined Grand Mediterranean and Transatlantic cruise lasting 28-days. We visited many amazing ports, but Malaga was one of our very favorites specifically because of this private tour of Alhambra. To alleviate any concerns about "missing the boat" afterwards, we had booked the ship's "Granada on Your Own" excursion for the guaranteed return transportation between Malaga and Granada. Once in Granada we took a taxi to a cafe near the entrance of Alhambra, where we met our private guide - Juan Vera. I cannot imagine visiting this amazing place without Juan. Yes, we would have appreciated the beauty of Alhambra and the Palaces without him - but we would have missed out on learning about the complex history and culture which are at least as important, and just as fascinating. Juan is knowledgeable and an excellent speaker/teacher, and his passion for Alhambra is contagious. His English is flawless, his pace was easy and relaxed and we comfortably covered the entire place in the allotted time. And we had him all to ourselves! Do yourself a favor - don't make a mistake and think you can just show up at Alhambra and get in - there were a lot of disappointed passengers who made that assumption. And if you do manage to get admission tickets in advance, don't think you can get as much from a pre-recorded tape and headset or even a "group tour". This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so do it right. Book this private tour with Viator, and with luck you may get Juan as your guide. You will not be disappointed.

What an experience! Mano (Manuel) our guide, is a fountain of knowledge and fun to spend three hours with. He made it so simple for us, otherwise we would not have known or understood what we were looking at. Alhambra is huge - it’s a city and castle and fortress and palaces all in one. We give Mano 6 stars (out of 5)

We booked this private tour as my husband is a history major and always has a lot of questions. Our tour guide, Alberto, was so knowledgeable and answered every question we had. He explained the intricate detail of the architecture, the reasons behind the fountains, the areas of secret listening and viewing. He told us about the stories of the past as well as some of the legends. We have taken tours across Spain. By far, this one was the best and Alberto was the best!

Super informative tour provided by a guide who truly loves the Alhambra. My family and I learned a lot about the vast history of the city inside a city. I've visited the Alhambra without a guide previously, but this was 100 times better. Time flew as we explored the sites, and our guide focused on the very best parts. Price was very affordable too, for a party of 5, and it was so convenient to be able to skip all the lines.

Our guide Esther was very good, covering everything from the gardens to the palaces - the designs and details of the various periods and the influences of those occupying the palaces at the time. Very informative!
The palaces were very impressive themselves with the detailed (moorish) designs and beautiful water features. It is a "must-see".
The only suggestion I could give to improve the tour is to put at least 2 water/bathroom breaks in between - e.g. once every hour. Some tourists (like ourselves) are not used to the summer heat and it really affected our energy levels.

We had a wonderful time at this tour with Juan. This was our second time visiting the Alhambra and we realized that we knew and experienced it in a very diminished way the first time around and that Juan’s knowledge and expertise made a world of difference and how we viewed and experienced the entire place. I would strongly recommend taking this tour with Juan for anyone considering a visit. We really enjoyed the tour and learned more about the place and the history then we could have through books etc.
