Itinerary
Your day trip will begin with pickup in central Florence. Meet your guide and hop aboard your minivan as you travel out of the city. Watch the landscape change from bustling streets to the beautiful rolling hills and vineyards of the Tuscan countryside.
Arrive in the wine region of Chianti along the Chiantigiana Road. Head to the small hamlet of Castellina, set on top of a hill. Follow your guide to a wine cellar to learn about the production process and the area’s rich history of winemaking.
Next, journey to a popular vineyard among the locals for a wine tasting, complemented by traditional Tuscan snacks. Your tastings vary seasonally, but usually include three delicious wines and the sweet vin santo (dessert wine) alongside lavender honey, olive oil with fresh Tuscan bread and cookies.
After refueling, head back on the road toward the village of Montalcino. Here, in the Crete Senesi region of Tuscany, you’ll see the hills of Val d’Orcia in the background, and stop for lunch and a second wine tasting at a rustic farmhouse. Treat your taste buds to a glass of Super Tuscan, Rosso di Montalcino and Brunello di Montalcino. Then feast on a lunch of bruschetta, assorted meats, cheese, and other specialty plates.
Afterward, take a glimpse of the farmhouse’s cellars and stroll the area. Continue to Montalcino to browse the village’s artisan products and take in the views over Val d’Orcia. Enjoy a final walk around Montepulciano before returning to Florence.

We had an amazing time at the vineyards. The guides were very informative about the history of the area, and the wine making process.

Good morning from Caf Tour & Travel,

Thank you for your wonderful review! We’re so glad to hear that you had an amazing time exploring the vineyards in Chianti.
It's great to know that the guides added to your experience with their knowledge of the area's history and the wine-making process. We hope to welcome you back on another tour soon for more unforgettable experiences!
Our best regards
This was my favorite tour of all! We visited two wineries, and also stopped in Siena. Our guide was knowledgeable and personable. Highly recommend!

We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back for another fantastic tour in the future.
Warm regards
I was very surprised and disappointed at how much time we spent driving. I would have preferred to have traveled around Chianti and maybe visit a small town in that area. The wine tasting in Montepulciano was so rushed and forced; the gal was just hurriedly going through her sales pitch. I felt no desire to buy anything from her. Stopping at the “Gladiator” house was completely unnecessary. That movie came out in 2000 and some people on our trip had never even heard of it. This day was supposed to be a big highlight of our trip but it was not.

Good morning from Caf Tour & Travel,
Dear Martha,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.
We regret reading that your recent activity did not meet your expectations. We took some time to verify what happened during the tour.
The itinerary includes the visit of three different areas of Tuscany: the Chianti region, the “Crete Senesi” area and the Val D’Orcia area. All the three are stunning areas with beautiful landscapes which are absolutely worth the visit during the stay in our wonderful region. It was clearly described on our Viator online page, stop by stop with also specifying the duration. Tuscany is wide and from Florence to Brunello Wine region it’s a long way immersed in wonderful nature and landscapes.
Regarding the wine tasting, we are sorry to hear that you felt forced to buy wine by the wine expert at the estate. We have cooperated with this winery for many years and we always receive excellent feedback from our valued customers. As for us your feedback is of paramount importance we will make sure that any sort of pushy behavior won’t be put in place for the future.
Concerning the stop at the “Gladiator” house, the driver asked if it was an appreciated stop, as it is a typical view of the region, being an avenue with cypress trees and as it could be a lovely stop on the way back to Florence. The passengers accepted to stop and have shown appreciation for that. It’s very confusing now to read that the stop was unnecessary and not appreciated.
Hoping that the above clarifications meet your understanding
We send best regards
Great guide Mauricio, both wineries were accommodating and excellent. The scenery was amazing as we drove throughout Tuscany, Montepulciano was particularly amazing!
We had an awesome time on this tour. Our driver, Paolo, was very helpful and informative. Thank you Paolo!! There were only 4 of us on the tour, which was very nice. We had free time in Greve, Montalcino and Montepulciano. The drive was breathtaking! We visited 2 vinyards for tasting. Lunch was served at Paradiso, which was also spectacular. It was a fantastic day!
Giovanni was excellent. Such a beautiful, wonderful tour. Will definitely do it again. Highly recommend
The landscape on the drive was surreal, everyone fell in love with Andrea at Mazzarrini. The wine selections were fantastic, and the Brunellos with pasta lunch put me in a coma on the drive back. 10/10 would recommend!

first of all let us thank you for having joined one of our tours and for having shared your opinion with us and our common readers.
You can't imagine how glade we are to read such an amazing review! We are so proud to have been able to let you live a memorable experience in some of the most beautiful Chianti areas.
We really hope to welcome you again in the future on another of our tours or activities.
Our best regards
We had a lovely day visiting two wineries and two towns. The driver was very nice and did a good job of getting us around but really was just that...a driver rather than a tour guide. The people at the wineries were informative and enthusiastic. Views are beautiful.
Patricio was very good. The tour was excellent, I'd recommend it highly. It is a long day though.
Guide was very knowledgeable of Italian history and most willing to share info. He stopped often for us to take pictures
This tour was simply spectacular. Our driver, Nicholas, was very friendly and informative. We spent the day exploring a number of small medieval towns in the Tuscan countryside. The highlight, of course, was the wine tasting. We visited a vineyard in Castellina in Chianti where we sampled some spectacular Tuscan wine while overlooking the beautiful rolling hills of the vineyard. We were also treated to meat, cheese, bread, and olive oil and balsamic tastings as well. The second tasting was at a storefront for a vineyard in Montepulciano with another round of great wines and accompaniments. We were able to order wine from both vineyards to be shipped to our home in the US. All of our bottles arrived within a few weeks in perfect condition. We could not recommend this tour more.
Great driver- beautiful vistas- enjoyed the small group and flexibility. enjoyed the first winery the most, by far
This was a wonderful day and a great way to see a lot of Tuscany all at once. There is a lot of driving, but the scenery is so gorgeous that I didn't mind. The first two wineries we visited were beautiful and our hosts were so welcoming and passionate about what they do. Can't say enough about how much we enjoyed those experiences.
The only negative- the third wine-tasting is really just a sip at one of the free places in Montelpuciano, not a true winery tour, so that was disappointing. I left wanting to visit one more vineyard.
All around a really beautiful day.
The food ,the wine, the scenery was next to none .this was a fabulous day and I cant wait for my order to arrive in Australia from the vineyard.
This was an excellent tour and I would definitely recommend this day trip from Florence for anyone who likes wine, or even just likes a drive through the hills of Chianti and into the area south of Siena. Our tour guide, Luca, was a delight, and very knowledgeable. He was very pleasant and personable, and was outgoing and friendly. We stopped at 2 outstanding wineries - one in Chianti Castellina and another near Montalcino. We also stopped in Greve and saw the main square of this typical Chianti town. Luca was a great driver and was open to doing whatever the group wanted. He never tired and kept all of us very engaged. There was never a dull moment -- everyone on the trip a small group got to know each other, and we had a great time as a group, and a great shared experience with Luca. The wineries we stopped at were wonderful - and it was such a treat to sample wines that would grace the tables of fine Florentine restaurants. Our hosts at these wineries treated us like family and were clearly professionals at making wine. These wineries were family run, and had a charm that only a family organization can give. But these wineries made top-flight wines, and a lot of wine.
My husband and I enjoyed this tour very much. Our driver, Tomasso, was great. The wineries were excellent, the scenery beautiful, and Tomasso made sure we had plenty of opportunities to stop and take photos throughout the day. There was a flea market going on in the town square in Greve-in-Chianti and a flea market/carnival in Montepulciano which we felt detracted from the charm of both towns. We did this tour on a Sunday which may account for these distractions. Nevertheless, we would certainly recommend this tour.
I loved this wine tour! First off, Sergio, our driver and tour guide was wonderful. Not only is he very knowledgeable about the wine areas, he is such an interesting person, with an amazing personality. All of the people on our tour where American, 6 of us total, and Sergio spoke perfect English. We traveled across several wine regions, 4 town stops including Greve to walk around, Castellina private tour and wine tasting, Montalcino private tour, lunch with 4 bottles of wine to share/taste, and then our last stop was Montepulciano...where we had 1.5 hours to walk around and explore. We are from San Francisco, and spoiled with all the many beautiful and famous wine regions. If you are staying in/around Florence, Tuscany is not to be missed! The drive alone, all along the rolling hills, castles, hill towns, made this trip 100 worth it. I loved every bit of it! It is a long day, with many curvy roads beware for those that get car sick and a perfect tour if you want to see all that Tuscany has to offer. Ask for Sergio...you will not regret it! I hope to make it back again to explore more wine regions in Tuscany. Ciao!
We had a really lovely day touring Tuscany, and Walter was an excellent tour host. We stopped in Greve, had an amazing tasting at Poggio Amorelli, a delicious tasting and light lunch at Carpazo in Montalcino, and ambled around Montelpulciano for a bit. We wish we had more time in Montelpulciano, but that was our fault for staying so long in Montalcino! Overall it was a great value and a memorable day- recommended.
This tour exceeded all my expectations. I have taken other Chianti tours...this was best in large part due to our fabulous guide ALDO!! He was professional friendly and a wealth of information. I would take any other tour with him as the guide highly recommended !!!
Gorgeous views and wonderful, wonderful wine. If you're looking for a tour that allows a significant amount of time to explore Greve and Montepulciano, I'm not sure if this would be a good fit for you.
We had a wonderful trip with a great driver who was a wealth of information.
Excellent tour. Scenery was beautiful. The wine was superior. Guide was pleasant.
This trip was for us an International delight. Touring montepulciana was the best part of the trip. We had 5 other people with us and all from different countries . The conversations were all energetic. Would I recommend this trip , yes. The country is beautiful
Our guide was terrific and the tour was an excellent way to see a lot in a day. Great experience.
Excelente tour, super completo y los vinos deliciosos. Muy recomendado para hacerlo en pareja. Paul un guia/chofer muy bueno.
