What To Expect

Your Tuscan cooking class will begin in central Florence, where you’ll join up with your small group near Piazza Santa Trinita. Follow your instructor across the Arno River where the cooking school is located.

Tie on your provided apron, roll up your sleeves and get to work with the guidance of an expert chef. The menu tends to vary but typically comprises chicken stew, potato gnocchi and a dessert, such as the popular tiramisu. (A sample menu can be found in the Itinerary section below.) Hear about Tuscan culinary techniques and traditions as you prep and cook your meal.

Afterward, reap the benefits of all your hard work! Seated around your fellow chefs, enjoy your creations with a glass of local wine.

Once your stomach and taste buds have been sated, your Tuscan cooking class will conclude. You’ll leave with a recipe booklet so you can recreate your dishes back home.

The cooking class will be operated by professional Chefs. The class might be divided in smaller groups, and each Chef will look after 15 participants

My husband woke up sick...

My husband woke up sick on the morning of our cooking course, despite the policy of needing 24 hours to cancel, Viator responded quickly to my messages and contacted the service provider directly and asked if we could reschedule, which they kindly did. The Tuscan Cooking Course was fabulous, learnt so much and the food we made was delicious. It was also a great way to meet some fellow travellers.

I finally learned to make pasta!

Teacher was thorough, and simplified the processes and recipes, but her lovely heavy Italian accent was sometimes difficult to understand (English speaking class). The recipe sheets we received didn’t necessarily represent the recipes we made. Everyone performed the same tasks for each recipe. I took another cooking class in Florence several years ago and we made the same recipes. However, every person made a different course. For this cooking class, everyone contributed to each course. I finally learned to make pasta! The food we made was delicious! I didn’t realize class would take place in a cooking school, so atmosphere was less homey than I would have liked. Classmates were fun tho and made up for it. Stingy with the wine for dinner

The food was great and it was such a fun time!! The chefs were so nice and accommodating to us. I only wished my husband could join, there was an extra seat at our table but they would nit allow him because they said they were booked. Other than that it was great!

Not a religious experience but not bad either

This is a very nice cooking class with a knowledgeable staff and chances to work hands on. Only comment to make is to not rely on the sample menu to make a decision. I picked this class because risotto was on the menu rather than making fresh pasta. I know how to make fresh pasta and was trying to avoid such a class. Not complaining, just providing a word to the wise. Food was excellent, could have been a little more generous with the wine (1 bottle for six people was IMHO a little skimpy) but all in all a decent experience though I will probably not repeat it. The cooking class and the meals we prepared were fantastic. Greta, our chef/instructor was superb. Very informative and easy to follow instructions. Only negative was there was another class or two going on at the same time. By the time we ate the dining area was packed and noisy. Somewhat of a let down after the intimate class of 15 people. It would have been nice to relax and enjoy the meal we prepared and be able to converse. It appeared from the online description that it was a small class experience. The dining room resembled more of a cafeteria atmosphere.

Francisco was wonderful! He was welcoming, very informative and has an infectious laugh. We made a meal that was fantastic! He showed us every step, allowed us to ask questions and taught us ALL a thing or two about cooking we’d never known! Did you know to peel your mushrooms? If you have a chance to take one of these classes, you absolutely should. There was fun, fellowship and learning all wrapped into one experience!

A real experience!

The class takes place in a Florentian culinary school, and initially was a little daunting - I couldn't prepare one authentic Italian menu item, let alone four. But . . . we did it! It takes two hours to learn and prepare, and much less time to enjoy, with wine and mineral water. Such a trip adds depth to one's travel. Yes, we'd do this again (and this is not our first cooking course.) Top Tip: Remember to take a recipe sheet with you, these are provided at the end of the evening after dinner. We paid upfront; we trekked all the way there and CAF Tour and Travel did not let us in. Ridiculous.

The guide had left the meeting spot; we were at the cooking school before the class began. the chefs at the cooking school suggested we call the travel company which we did and they would not give us the insurance we needed, even though the cooking school said they could do it over the phone. Ridiculous.

Worst Cooking Class

Public Health needs to pay them a visit! Very dirty, they don’t believe in hygiene, food hair on cutting board, staff were miserable, didn’t even eat the food we made, we had PIGS in the group that ATE IT ALL. Had to grab a pizza after the class to eat. Not worth the money very disappointing.

Took the class with my two teenage daughters. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy. Our chefs were so friendly and funny. We made a delicious 4 course meal, getting instructions and tips throughout the session. Then we sat down to enjoy the meal. A very memorable time with my kids!

Actually, we never made it to this activity due to several factors and it’s really nobody’s fault. First, our train into Florence was delayed, which gave us about 1 hour to make it to the meeting point (we were supposed to arrive 2 hours earlier). We checked into our AirBnB and threw our bags in and ran out the door to attempt to make it to the meeting point on time. Second, the torrential rain that had started made it very difficult to navigate the streets. Third, the meeting location was not very easy to find as our GPS kept giving us erroneous directions. Needless to say, by the time we arrived, the group had left. Like I mentioned, it was not the fault of the vendor or anyone else but the circumstances just didn’t work out for us.

We had so much fun at this cooking class! Stephano was am amazing instructor and showed us how to make gnocchi, appetizers, chicken, and a dessert with ease. Even though I am a teacher, I have never seen a more calm and patient instructor. He let us know we didn’t have to worry if we didn’t remember the recipe, we would get one upon departure. The food was delicious, and we shared it after cooking everything. We did not have to do the cleaning or more difficult preparation, like cutting the meat, but it was clear how to do it. Francesco was a terrific host, and we were surprised to learn that his paintings graced the dining area. We loved each minute, made friends, had a great dinner and, best of all, didn’t have to clean up. What could be better! I highly recommend this memorable experience.
