Itinerary
Your walking tour begins in central Florence, where you join up with your guide. Travel first to the neighborhood of San Lorenzo, a popular spot with visitors and locals alike for its open-air market, which sells a wide array of leather goods, clothing and more. As you go, your guide will discuss the rule of the Medici family and their significant impact on the city's politics and art during the Renaissance.
Admire the Medici Chapels designed by Michelangelo and Matteo Nigetti, where members of the Medici family are buried and discover the Palazzo Medici Riccardi with its charming courtyard, before to check out the Basilica of San Lorenzo with its gorgeous cloister.
Next, wander over to one of Florence’s most iconic landmarks, the Duomo, where Brunelleschi’s Dome famously sits. Discover the beauty of the Baptistery and Giotto’s Bell Tower while learning the history of the architecture.
The tour leads you then to “Il Porcellino”, the bronze piglet statue that offers luck to those who rub his nose, located at the Straw Market, before to reach the bustling square of Piazza della Signoria, home to the Palazzo Vecchio, outdoor cafes and a collection of famous sculptures, including Giambologna’s Rape of the Sabine Women.
From here your stroll gives you the chance to externally follow the entire path of the celebrated Vasari Corridor, passing through the gorgeous Uffizi Gallery courtyard, crossing the Arno River walking along the historic Ponte Vecchio and reaching the marvelous Pitti Palace. Finally, reach the Medieval Quarters of the city, where Dante Alighieri lived and where you also find the charming Badia Fiorentina and the austere Bargello Palace.
Please note that the order of the visits may change.

This was a fabulous way to understand Florence's history and get to know the city. The only negative was the tour people were not dressed according to what we were told not did they identify themselves which caused some confusion.

Our tour guide was incredibly knowledge about the history of Florence. Each monument and the background was provided in detail. She seemed to have a real passion for Florence's history which is infectious. The only recommendation would that it would be great to be able to walk and talk more, as it was a chilly day and standing in a spot made me feel more cold.

Waste of precious vacation time and money.
Was a total of 10 people.
6 French speaking and 4 English.
The guide struggled with both languages and spent 70% with French folk and 30 with us English.
The guide had trouble with both languages, but mostly with the english language. Trouble communicating about the subject matter.
A refund should made!

Helena was a great host and was very knowledgeable. We ticked all the main boxes with her. Highly recommended!

Larisa our guide was very knowledgeable and made it very interesting
Patrick M, Jan 2018
This tour was amazing. The guide was very informative and with Florence’s history and ability to keep their treasures was well worth seeing
Anika P, Sep 2017
It was very informative however, the guide was boring to listen too. She did not make it very exciting. Following I had no idea it they were going to speak in Spanish and English which made the tour even longer than it needed to be.
Melanie F, Sep 2017
Relaxed small group tour - conducted in both French and English. This did present some challenges - particularly hanging around in quite crowded areas while the guide switched between languages. However, she was very informative and worked hard to keep us engaged. I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to start their Florence experience with an introduction to the main parts of the city or like me anyone with only a limited amount of time to look around.
John_B, Mar 2017
Sylvia did a great job on this introductory tour to Florence. She will give you information on where to go during your stay and some inside tips.
Luke Z, Feb 2017
It was us and another 3 Spanish tourists waiting for the guide so we figured we'd be split but to our dismay we were grouped together with an English and Spanish-speaking guide. Don't get me wrong the tour was very informative and the guide very fluent and knowledgable but we felt like we got half of what we signed up for. At each stop the same information was narrated in the 2 languages, so in practical terms, had it been an English-speaking only group which is what we imagined it would be we would have gotten double the information in the allotted time! The time spent narrating in Spanish and vice versa for our Spanish counterparts could have been used for additional information in English. We were truth be told quite disappointed by this as the guide had a lot to offer.

Our guide Maximilian was number ONE..Very knowledgeable and full of anecdotes about the history.Kudos to him!
Edward_P, Oct 2016
Our guide did the tour in 2 languages which really slowed the tour, otherwise it was fine.
Vincent F, Nov 2015
Our guide was very knowledgeable and informative of the history and culture of Florence. I definitely recommend this for anyone visiting the city.
Alice.ho, Oct 2015
Our guide was pretty good, took us through this 2 hour walking tour to a few of must-go places in Florence and provided useful information, history, background....etc.
I highly recommend this walking tour, especially for the first-time visitors in Florence to help them determine what they want to see in more depth within a short stay.
Audra T, Oct 2015
It was good. We had already done a night tour and there was A LOT of the same information. The way Viator describes the tours, it appears as though you are getting two different tours. Not really.
Catherine B, Sep 2015
a knowledgable and friendly tour guide who paced herself with her audience and demonstrated a deep knowledge of her city
Dianne G, Jun 2015
Very informative. If you have a short time in Florence, it's a great way to see everything.
Carissa E, Jun 2015
We were lucky to have a small group for this tour, there was plenty of opportunity for lots of questions! The guide was local and therefore very knowledgeable on Florence, provided us with a great deal of history and detail. Would highly recommend for an easy walking tour
Mary Beth H, Jun 2015
Walking tour is correct -- we only got into one small chapel. Tour guide Deborah was very good and knowledgeable. Wouldn't do a walking tour like this again.
David R, Jun 2015
I was so disappointed about this tour. Previous similar tours have been excellent. Unfortunately this tour was in French and English despite being advertised as English. As a result, we spent half the time waiting for the French translation to finish instead of getting any history of Florence.
Iryna F, May 2015
Guide did not add information beyond what we already knew from reading description of tour. A private guide should give extra info, the other participants in the tour knew more than she did and were often correcting her knowledge of the Medici family. She also failed to introduce herself, I have no idea what her name was.
andrew w, Apr 2015
excellent evening....very informative, plenty of wine, good company.
well worth doing!!
Joan W, Jan 2015
Five star definitely! We all had a wonderful walk around Florence - my husband, our granddaughter and I. The tour guide was thorough in his knowledge of the city, witty and wonderful in 1:1 conversation. Maybe we'll get a chance to do it again someday. We hope so.
Deborah A, Nov 2014
Enjoyed the tour but we weren't especially impressed with Florence overall. It's a very big busy city with lots of people but it just felt as if it was all buildings, little walkways and lots of religious buildings.
Allan W, Nov 2014
Great tour, with a nice young lady to tell the stories of Florence.Pace was perfect.
Michael F, Oct 2014
Tour was great and so our guide. A small group of maybe ten people so it made it very personal. We had two different languages for the tour and that slowed it down some. A great way to get a nice overview of the city before exploring further on our own. Mike f
Christopher J P, Oct 2014
We ended up in a small group (5) so we had a great chance to interact and our guide was outstanding.
She was very knowledgeable about Florence it's history, architecture etc but was also happy to talk about lifestyles and current events.
This made a great introduction to Florence.
Recommend the tour highly.
janddcole, Oct 2014
This was an informative overview of Florence and I would have missed the other side of the River and the great museum without the tour. Next visit I will probably stay on the South side of the river.
