First, our guide,Carlos, and driver, Max, were the best! They were very accommodating, friendly, knowledgeable, and fun, and funny!
Second, we really enjoyed everything we did, from beginning to end! All of the activities and sites were fun and interesting.
If you have time in Puerto Plata, this is an amazing way to spend your day!

Viator doesn't tell you the cable car has been shut down for a year, so we started off disappointed. However our tour guide and driver still made our experience 5 star. We started at the beautiful botanical gardens at the top of the mountain with outstanding views. We then had a rum tasting at a distillery lots of fun, bought some to bring home. Moved on to a quaint restaurant for a wonderful lunch. They took us downtown to the square. Toured the church, the umbrella street, pink ally and went to a jewelry store. They took us to a chocolate and wine tasting. From there we went to the Fort. There was so much we passed on the cigar making tour. Oh and did I mention free drinks with or without alcohol. This tour was awesome and a phenomenal value. Take this tour, you won't be sorry you did.

You see a wide variety of things. The only thing I would skip is the jewelry store - a hard sell - and not my thing. Everything else was wonderful. Carlos, our guide, and Henry, our driver were friendly and accommodating. Lunch was fabulous - such a cute restaurant!

The mountain road was closed due to mud slides after 18 days of heavy rain. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about mother nature.
Hopefully you will give us another opportunity in the future when the weather is more cooperative.

I'm a little late in posting this review, sorry guys. I'm catching up now. This was an excellent excursion, our guides were great! They made sure we had fun and had a drink at all times, whether it was alcohol or a regular beverage, very nice! We got to see many places we probably wouldn't have gotten to see if we tried doing it ourselves. Especially with the time constraint we had with our cruise. We had an excellent meal at a beautiful restaurant you couldn't even hardly see from the small roads they have. We got to make cigars and try different ones, awesome!. They had us back in time with no worries.

We ate, drank and were merry. Carlos, our guide was wonderful and do not forget our driver, Alvaro, who safely drove us to our destinations. First, walking through a beautiful garden, sampling rum at Macorix House of Rum, then onto rolling our own cigars at a cigar factory and of course a stop at Choco Love, a chocolate store. Our lunch was at a restaurant where we enjoyed local cuisine. We had soo much fun. There is some walking involved but not strenuous.

I wish I could give this tour 10 stars! It was amazing. Our tour guide Alex was extremely knowledgeable and engaging. Our bus driver Mr. Jimenez got us where we needed to be safely. We would do this again. If your looking for a great time, take this tour!

Exceptional event! Booked direct vs onboard the cruise ship and ended up on several of the same stops though didn’t pay as much and the personalized service was by far superior. In addition to seeing so much more, we enjoyed the personalized pace of a smaller group. Our lead, Carlos, with the support of Fernando, were exceptional. They gave personal accounts of living on this incredible island. Very friendly and safe and would highly recommend.

Our guide Alexander the Great and our driver Mad Max were terrific. All parts of the excursion were memorable, including the cable car trip up the mountain, rum factory tour (with plenty of samples!), cigar making store and the fort area. The included lunch was very good. Last but not least, all the rum and cokes you can handle during the excursion!

Alex was an amazing tour guide! He took us to visit all of the highlights of Puerto Plata and also allowed us to add stops if we wanted. The tour ended up being just the 3 of us and lasted 6 hours--well worth the money! Don't hesitate, take this tour.

Our tour guides 'Alexander the Great' and Alfredo were excellent. We were the only couple on the tour which made it more personal. The weather was terrible which cancelled our trip to the top of the mountain. Cancelled by management for safety reasons. Just wondering if true. Other tourists on other tours did go up the mountain. The rum house and walk around the town square was nice. The chicken lunch at Kaffe was delicious. Would highly recommend it.

Thanks so much for choosing our city tour and really sorry the weather didn't cooperate. The cable car was open, then closed, then opened for an hour then closed for the rest of the day. Every time our guide checked with them, it was closed.

My sister and I had a good time on this tour. Carlos was a great tour guide for us. We visited sites that we would not have found on our own. The van was clean our group was small. We toured with a couple and they were friendly. The ride was smooth and they offered drinks and snacks. There were plenty of opportunities for great photos. We did the cable car, museum, rum tasting, lunch and cigar shop with a lesson and fun dance session at the end. I recommend this tour!

My family & I recently visited Amber Cove on Carnival Freedom. We really wanted to make the most out of the DR so we decided to do a private tour. This is the one! We had more fun than expected. Our tour guide Alejandro the Great was amazing & our driver Fernando kept us safe on the road. We appreciated them both. The van was very comfortable & had enough room for all of us. Company was very professional an accommodating. We will be cruising back to the DR in the future & will definitely book with Iguana Mama again! Again book this tour.

Our tour guide Alexander was very knowledgeable and friendly. He made us feel like family. We felt safe and secure the entire time together. His love of his country and its history is very apparent. He never rushed us and was a most gracious host. The rum distillery was fun and lunch was very tasty, with fresh ingredients. The cable car trip was the best, with his knowledge of the plants and allowing us to identify the fragrances of different leaves in the national park.

The tour was modified due to cable car maintenance as we drove up the mountain. Beautiful views from the mountain top and our tour guide, Carlos, took some very neat pictures of us. We visited the rum factory for rum sampling after the mountain visit. Amber Museum was the next stop before our lunch stop at a quaint restaurant. Carlos modified the tour at our request and our wonderful driver, Max, drove us safely back to the cruise ship. We had an enjoyable day.

Misael was a great guide and did a wonderful job on this private excursion. We were the only ones booked on this excursion and Misael did a great job of tailoring it to our interests. We were able to see the rum factory, the "pink street", umbrella street, amber museum, cigar factory, enjoy a Dominican lunch, and do a bit of shopping all in about 4 hours. I highly recommend this excursion and ASK FOR MISAEL.

Alexander and Johnny were excellent guides for me and my aunt. They made the day fun and carefree while still ensuring that we returned to our cruise ship on time. Having our personal driver and guide, who were bodyguards and photographers for us was exactly what we hoped for. I highly recommend using this excursion and experiencing the most bang for your buck.

Alexander (our guide) and Fernando (our driver) were great! Both were friendly, polite, and very knowledgeable. We started with the cigar rolling experience. We had fun and learned a lot, but I wish we had more cigar rolling opportunity. The tram to Teleferico offers incredible views, and here is where Alexander really shined! He explained so much about the history, culture, and flora of the area in a highly interactive way. The rum factory “tour” is just watching a video, then generously sampling 8-10 types of rum. You don’t get to see any of the rum making operation. We also really enjoyed the beach views from the Fort. Lunch at Kaffe restaurant was awesome! Very generous portions and literally everyone cleaned their plates. During the ride, our guides offered free-flowing drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and snacks. Overall, we had a wonderful time, and would definitely recommend this tour if you want to do something more cultural on your vacation.
