Amazing trip. We were so lucky to have such a great day. Warm and clear. We did the Circuit 3, and frankly didn't notice a difference from the Circuit 2 expereince and Circuit 3 is considerably cheaper. The train ride to Aguas Calientes is breathtaking. Starting in The Sacred Valley, going through the "Cloud Forest" and finally into the jungle where Machu Picchu sits. We did the Vista Dome package. Highly recommend.

Harold was a knowledgeable guide and he made the experience comfortable; even helping us with lovely photos at specific spots. Definitely recommend!

It was most informative using a tour guide.
We used a private tour guide, Wilbuir and he was extremely knowledgeable, kind and patient. It's a lot of walking on uneven stones.
Response from Host, Dec 2025
Thank you very much for sharing your experience with us!. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed your private tour; we’re glad the guided experience was informative and helped you navigate the walking routes comfortably.
Thank you for trusting us!. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back to Peru in the future.

The trip around Machu Picchu was total amazing and Samuel was brilliant. Not often you go to a place which has such high expectations in your mind and then it blows your mind.
Minor amendments to organisation and communication of the days events could have been slightly better but the visit was brilliant
Response from Host, Dec 2025
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are delighted to hear that your visit to Machu Picchu was truly amazing and that Samuel provided you with such an excellent service
We also appreciate your feedback regarding the organization and communication of the day’s events. Your comments help us continue improving our service, and we will make sure to reinforce these points with our team
Thank you once again for choosing us. We hope to welcome you back for more unforgettable experiences in Peru

This was our first experience in Cusco, and everything went perfectly. We were picked up right outside our hotel and taken to the train station, where they explained clearly which train we needed to take. On the train, we were given snacks, which made the journey feel special and enjoyable. The ride itself was very smooth and relaxing.
Once we arrived, there was someone already waiting for us to guide us through the process — explaining which bus to take, which line to join, and making sure everything was organized. The staff even checked our bus number to confirm that our guide was already waiting for us at Machu Picchu.
At Machu Picchu, our guide greeted us and explained which circuit we would follow. He was incredibly knowledgeable, explaining the history in detail, taking photos for us, and allowing us plenty of time to enjoy each section at our own pace. He was very patient, even resting with us when the altitude became a bit challenging.
After the visit, the guide stayed with us in the long line for the bus back, making sure everything went smoothly. He even gave us recommendations on where to eat afterwards. Later, we boarded the return train, and once we arrived, our driver was waiting to take us back to the hotel.
The timing was perfect from beginning to end — no delays at all. Overall, visiting Machu Picchu with this team was an incredible experience, and I would highly recommend it.

Really well organized tour. The train ride was magical. The tour guide was knowledgeable and patient. Went in the afternoon and the crowd wasn’t bad at all. Definitely recommend!
Response from Host, May 2025

We’re thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the tour and found everything well organized. The train ride is indeed a magical part of the experience, and we’re glad it met your expectations.
It’s great to know that our guide’s knowledge and patience made a positive impact, and that visiting in the afternoon allowed for a more relaxed experience.
We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you again soon for another adventure!

On-time pickup. Smooth transfers between van & train. Miguel was super passionate, friendly & very knowledgeable. He took great pictures. Fantastic all-day tour!

Kantu Tours is reliable. The tour was fairly complicated, with a long drive to the station, then the train journey and finally a half hour bus ride up the mountain. However, Franklin at Kantu Tours was available on Whatsapp every step of the way, to communicate with the guides/drivers and ensure that the trip ran smoothly. Machu Picchu is absolutely stunning.

This tour is a hand off from person to person not 1 person throughout a very long day. Ronald was our driver and on time from Cusco hotel to train 1 1/2 hr and return 1 1/2 hr. Pick a meeting place before exiting car. English very difficult for him; walk down hill pass all vendors and show tickets. If you are Vistadome on Perurail go all the down to nice garden area with clean bathrooms. Train is 1 1/2 hours each way.
After exiting train in Agua Calientes you will meet another person outside of train fence; we has Lisa and sweet son meet us. She took us to the line for the bus; an hour wait so be prepared with hat and sunscreen! Big groups will try to bully you back; stand your ground and tell them you would be happy to go in front of their group 😜Lisa worked a miracle and found another couple with same tour company that we joined and move 1/2 way up👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. Then once on the bus it takes almost an hour to go up the switchbacks. Be prepared for a lot of people! Bathrooms on bus level and cost 2 soles (she broke a 100 for me). Go up stairs and find your guide; ours was Rebeka. If you have been to Machu Picchu before it has all changed 😢in the last year. There are 3 circuits and I do not know how you choose but we got circuit 2; the best with most famous view. We bought tour 8 months out. There are only 8 llamas now as 7 years ago there were a lot of wild ones roaming the citadel. The govt added one way paths with steps so very busy. Not the spiritual experience of 7 years ago. All IG posers. Rebeka knows her stuff and was very compassionate with me as feeling nauseated with the heat so stopped for breaks. At the end she stayed with us in the bus line to go down the Mtn another hour wait. Once back in Agua calientes she showed us train station for our return. Waldir WhatsApp me to come in to office and I questioned why, no answer. Our days are packed so didn’t understand the importance of office visit. Uber over for cheap but this is where you get ALL your tickets; hard copies! Plan on 6am to 8:30pm day.

We were supposed to be met at the train station when we arrived in the town of Machu Picchu. Our train was late - nobody’s fault. Our greeter was absent but many other greeters were there with signs. I had to call the office to get someone to show up. By the time she (not English speaking) arrived to escort us to the line was huge causing us to be 1 hour late for our ticket time. Our guide was great but again, no sign with our name to great us. When we finished we didn’t have enough time to get something to eat to make the train on time. We got to the station to find the train was 45 minutes late to leave. Then the train broke down. The miscue at the town was the disappointing part. The rest was fine.

Dear Joseph,
I hope this message finds you and your loved ones in good health.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. On behalf of our entire team, I sincerely apologize for the challenges you faced upon your arrival in Machu Picchu. It is disheartening to hear that our greeter was absent and that you had to make a call for assistance, especially following the delay of your train.
I understand how frustrating it must have been to miss your ticket time and not have enough time to enjoy a meal. While I’m glad to hear that your guide was great, I recognize that the initial miscommunication overshadowed your experience.
Please rest assured that we take your feedback seriously. I will ensure that this matter is addressed with our team, as we are committed to improving these details for future bookings. Your satisfaction is incredibly important to us, and we truly appreciate your understanding.
I would also like to express my gratitude for choosing our small local travel agency. Behind each excursion, there are many dedicated individuals working hard as a family. Our staff includes mothers and fathers, and your choice to travel with us directly supports their livelihoods. We are all grateful to our clients for making our work possible. Thank you very mucch!
If there’s anything further we can do to make this right, please feel free to reach out.
Warm regards,
Kantu team.

The 2.5 hrs inside Machu Piccu historical area were fabulous. Our guide took us to many areas for photos and archeological perspectives. I would not recommend the full day from Cusco due to the hassle of car to train to bus, this was stressful and prone to error. Kantu tours did a good job of spacing out the travel tickets, but it is a very long day of travel. If we did this again I would suggest an overnight stay closer to the park since the driven from Cusco 2 ways is punishing.

Scenic train ride
Breathaking site with informative English-speaking guide to bring it life
Tour was tailored to the mobility & interests of our group
Well organised day - not having to worry about anything (car pickup, train tickets, entrance fees, etc)
Priyah_L, Feb 2024
Despite the high cost, the tour proved to be well worth the price. Navigating the journey from Cusco to Machu Picchu involves multiple steps and is not an easy trip to plan independently. However, this tour greatly enhanced convenience. The company demonstrated professionalism by calling a day ahead to brief participants on the entire process. Overall, it was a highly worthwhile investment, making the trip enjoyable and entirely stress-free.
tomdevonshire, Jan 2024
Will start the review by saying the tour itself was very good. Our driver (Saul) was great and our tour guide (Edgar) at Machu Picchu was very informative and took lots of pictures for us.
However, I can’t recommend Kantu Tours. A day following our booking we were contacted to tell us the slot we had booked was no longer available and that all morning slots to Machu Picchu were sold out - despite them telling us that they were still selling morning tours for our date. We reluctantly accepted the afternoon tour which I do not recommend as it means having an 11am lunch and then nothing until you arrive back at Cusco at 10pm. The fact we had paid over $80 more per person to choose Kantu Tours over other Viator tours because they had the earlier slots was completely ignored by Kantu.
We agreed on a on 8am pickup from our hotel only for the day before the trip to be changed to 7am with mo explanation until queried which they then blamed the train operator for, the only option was to accept the change or pay extra for an upgraded train.
Overall it wasn’t a great experience until the tour itself which went smoothly but would not use Kantu Tours again.
Robert_A, Dec 2023
Very professional and organised private tour. Everything was as it should have been. Well planned, articulate contact, clean transport, enthusiastic professional guide. I was very impressed and I wouldn’t hesitate to use Kantu again if returning to Peru.
Kirby_W, Nov 2023
We learned a lot on our tour from our tour guide, Harold. The Peru Rail was a neat experience, minus getting motion sickness on the ride back. Our private driver, Bruce, from/to Cusco was so nice and we felt very safe. Waldir did a good job communicating all the instructions for the tour. Overall it was a great experience and we were really happy to get to visit Machu Picchu!
Stephen_B, Oct 2023
Not cheap but everything was first class. The driver who took us to and from our hotel, the train, the restaurant, the guide at Machu Picchu.
And Machu Picchu itself was breathtaking. Would definitely recommend.
Lara_M, Jun 2023
This was a fantastic day and so well organised! Miguel met us promptly at 08:00 outside our hotel, was caring and considerate of our needs. The train and bus transfers were smooth, service and understanding of language differences were well managed - we honestly felt cared for like we were the only people on the tour. A special thank you for Harold who went ABOVE and BEYOND for us as a tour guide and took us through the site at Machu Pichu with many spots to stop, take photos, discuss the history and culture and to even stop and have a snack! Harold answered all of our questions and helped us feel like we got to know so much more - thank you for making it feel like a friend was taking us through.
Response from Host, Jun 2023

Professional team.
Highly recommend this agency to feel safe and not worry about anything.

Our tour guide Carlo was the best! Definitely recommend! So nice to have a private tour and the vista dome train ride was so much fun!
Richard_O, Aug 2022
The restaurant was great! The only stressful part was the local bus to Machu Picchu, but they have to a lot of people so be prepared. Our private driver’s were great. At the end of the day, this is an experience you will never forget. Lastly, take the altitude sickness seriously. We only had two people get sick. Luckily our hotel (Hilton Cusco) provides free oxygen to their guests. So they were fine within a hour.
Itri_A, Aug 2022
Karol is a great Tour guide and our driver Joan is exceptional. We really enjoyed this tour. Great lunch as well
Kapil_M, Aug 2022
Ver well organized tour. We got to do everything we expected out of the tour smoothly. Would highly recommend this trip!
Thomas_G, Jul 2022
Guaranteed Machu Picchu tickets, paid in advance... that is what I purchased from Viator and had them confirmed. So my daughter flew 3400 miles to Lima in route to Cusco. While in Lima one and a half days before the trip I received call informing me that we did not have tickets but could travel 4 hours from Cusco and wait in line 6 hours the first day and 6 hours the second day and not get in. Left without seeing MP! Viator sold me tickets they did not have! Terrible experience. BE AWARE !
Charlie_A, Jul 2022
From beginning to end, the excursion was smooth and professional. We were made to feel special. Communication prior to the event was prompt and informative. Really, everything was just perfect. Juan was a phenomenal guide. Our transportation was too notch.
Kevin_R, Jul 2022
Knowledge and passionate team from the office staff to the drivers, and of course the guides. We had other excursions that were more adventurous but nothing tops the majesty of Machu Picchu. Buys going on several guided trips but save Machu Picchu for last. You’ll appreciate the lower altitude and tropical flora. Our trip came with an awesome lunch in Aguas Calientes. Definitely worth the extra cost and easily done in one day.
Kiran_Z, Jul 2022
Very well organized. Harol the guide was knowledgeable and accommodating. The lunch was perfect. The driver was very steady and punctual. Overall a great way to see one of the seven wonders!
Giannina_M, Jun 2022
The Tour guide was late but he apologized profusely. It looks like there was some miscommunication going on… they made up a bunch of excuses…. Guy said he had missed the bus cause they told him the tour was earlier … people over the phone said the guide had found someone with my name and was giving them a tour… my name is Giannina so…
The taxi driver was nice but he didn’t know anything about the train and gave us the wrong information.
When we got back from the tour, we went and had lunch and that’s when it really went downhill. Rude waiter threw the menus on the table when we told him we came from the tour… long story short we paid for our 2 mediocre pisco sours and grabbed lunch elsewhere.
On our way back to the hotel the driver pulled over And wouldn’t go until we wrote a review for them.
After speaking up I was given a complimentary ride to the airport but it never really happened.
This is a $1k tour to Machu Picchu. I was charged as a foreign even though I have a Peruvian passport.
Avoid at all cost.
