I recently took this tour and unfortunately felt misled and overcharged in several ways. While the guide himself was polite and knowledgeable at times, the overall experience left me feeling scammed rather than welcomed. Guide: Ahmed Issue 1: Misleading information about transport inside Giza We were dropped near the entrance of the Giza Plateau and told that private cars are not allowed inside, so we had to take the shuttle bus. However, once inside the complex, I clearly saw multiple cars driving on the internal roads. This made me feel that I was given false information, likely to cut costs. Issue 2: Severe overcharging for Tomb of Meresankh III I was taken to the Tomb of Queen Meresankh III and charged $15 / ~750 EGP for entry. While the guide did tell me the price beforehand, I had no internet access at the time to verify it. Upon reaching the tomb, the guide did not purchase any tickets online or elsewhere and just talked to the guy sitting outside. Later, after returning to my hotel, I checked the official Egyptian tourism website and found that the actual ticket price is 180 EGP. This means I was charged more than four times the official price, which is completely unacceptable and felt like a deliberate tourist scam. Issue 3: Forced stops at papyrus and oil shops After the pyramids, I was taken to a “Golden Eagle” papyrus shop and an oil/perfume shop. These stops felt like classic tourist traps with highly inflated prices and questionable product quality. I purchased a papyrus painting, only to discover after returning home that it was poorly made and already deteriorating. I could not return it. While these shops are not part of the tour directly, guides should not be taking guests to scammy places just to earn commission. Ahmed seemed like a nice person, but these repeated issues ruined the experience. Everything felt transactional and dishonest, especially disappointing as this was my first day in Egypt. I paid nearly 80 GBP for this tour, which should have been more than sufficient for a transparent and professional experience. Instead, the tour felt highly overpriced, and to top it off, I was then told that tips for the driver were not included, which felt incredibly audacious given everything else. Because of these reasons, I cannot recommend this tour. This is not how visitors should be treated, especially when they are new to the country and relying on their guide for honest information.

In many cases, private vehicles are restricted, and shuttle buses are required. I regret if this was not clearly explained at the time. Concerning entrance fees, all prices were communicated in advance based on the information available during the visit. Ticketing procedures in Egypt can vary between official counters and on-site arrangements, and I understand how this may have caused frustration. I appreciate you highlighting this, and I will make extra effort to ensure clearer verification and documentation going forward. As for optional stops at local shops, these are never mandatory, and guests are always free to decline. I regret if these stops felt uncomfortable or pressured in any way—this was not my intention.
