My husband and I just had the most amazing day visiting Saqqara, Dahshur and Memphis. We were picked up from our hotel at the agreed time, visited the three sites, plus a papyrus museum and an oil and essence boutique. Nice buffet lunch with view to the Giza pyramids. Our private guide Menna and our driver Abdallah were simply amazing, flexible, understanding and easygoing! Best choice to discover Egypt!

We booked a driver for the trip, started at 11am and ended at around 5pm. Viator is very professional in helping us even though we booked it just a night before the trip. The driver was kind and helpful although he is not English literate, we communicated using Google Translate. Yet, the problem came as we can't discuss much with him due to language barrier, we hope that he could bring us somewhere to grab our lunch in between the trip but end up he brought us to a very expensive buffet (costing EGP450 per pax) at the end of the trip at about 4pm and the food was not very well rated. Can't blame the driver much as he may need to earn his commission and we did not able to communicate well. Besides that, all went well and we did enjoyed the visit to Saqqara, Dahshiour and Memphis. Maharan was a great driver. He arrived on time and spoke good English. The car was clean with working seatbelts! He drove us to Dahshur first as it is furthest away, although he would have changed the order had we wanted. We went to Memphis next, allowing us to spend most time in Sakkara. We bought entry to stepped pyramid and also to Mereruka's tomb, which was fantastic with wall paintings, much more interesting than stepped pyramid. Mereruka's tomb is a short drive from the stepped pyramid. When we got there many people were turned away as they hadn't bought tickets. Maharan stopped on the way back and bought us some dates and oranges to try. He was a really great driver! I had considered booking a trip with a guide, but we really didn't need one.

He was amazing, went the extra mile every step of the way, and made it a pleasurable, and knowledgeable experience. It helped that he had a background in Egyptian history and archeology, and was able to show and describe some of the obscure and tucked away hieroglyphics on statues and monuments. Came to the hotel early, took his time, and good care of us in the extreme heat; and we were able to see all the sites un-rushed. We should have contracted with Emo and Ahmed for the other stops on our trip to Egypt.
