Food tour guide was nice enough but not from Greece. We were expecting someone from Greece with knowledge on the food and food history who could provide fun facts about each thing we tried. Sadly we didn’t get any context of anything that we ate, which was disappointing. The guide just shepherded us from place to place. Could have done that on our own. The highlight was the honey tasting. The lady in that shop did give us some education along with her samples.

We do feel this comment is a bit unfair, as the guide you had is actually a professional guide with extensive knowledge of Greek history and culture, in fact, she has studied Greek history in depth and has consistently received 5-star reviews from previous guests for her explanations and passion during the tour. Being local is not always the only factor that determines someone’s expertise or ability to share a culture meaningfully.
