Our tour guide was very funny and energetic. It was nice to learn more about the pieces in the museum versus read the labels or listen to an audio guide. I recommend going to the museum before your visit to Acropolis for better understanding.

Great tour with Dimitris

We visited the Acropolis Museum as parents with our two young adult children and had an excellent guided tour. Dimitris, our guide, was excellent - knowledgeable, engaging and able to bring the exhibits to life. He highlighted key pieces and explained their significance, giving us far more than we would have discovered on our own. Confirmation that doing an organised tour is well worth it. Much better than going through the museum unguided. The 1¼-hour length was perfect - I had worried it might feel too short, but it was just right. We visited the museum before going up to the Acropolis, which I highly recommend, as it gave us an excellent overview of what to look out for once we were there.

Unmissable Tour

Margarita was simply fantastic. The way in which she conducted the tour brought everything we were seeing 'alive'. Her enthusiasm and love of the many incredible sculptures was contagious. My museum reluctant partner thanked me for booking it and agreed that it was the highlight of our short stay in Athens. The museum is breathtaking and should not be missed. We learnt a lot and will remember this tour for a long time to come.

Our guide was very informed and made the tour of the museum very interesting . We only did the acropolis museum part since we had visited the site the day before. I recommend visiting the museum first and then going to the acropolis. That way you will be better able to appreciate the monuments you are seeing

Amazing tour of the Acropolis Museum with Dionysus!

We really enjoyed the tour with Dionysus! He was full of wonderful facts and his enthusiasm for the museum was infectious. He told wonderful stories about different artifacts. He kept us on schedule and we really enjoyed our experience. We were tired after a long day walking around the Acropolis in the early morning and around town at some of the other sites, yet we were energized at the Acropolis Museum to learn a whole lot more. We met nearby and walked to the museum together. We really enjoyed our time with Dionysus and highly recommend him as a tour guide.

Very informative tour

It was recommended that we visit the museum prior to visiting the Acropolis, and I am so glad we took this advice. This tour helped to make sense of what could’ve been an overwhelming visit to a beautiful and very informational museum. Viator did advertise that the cost of the museum tickets were 15€ per person. However, upon arriving at our meeting point, the tour operator charged 20€ per person, which is the actual price of the tickets at the museum door. I don’t think the tour operator was taking advantage of us. Rather I think Viator’s cost that was posted was incorrect.

The guide (Martha?) was very competent and clear. Check out the Lego block model of the Acropolis - very cool! The museum restaurant, however, was very expensive; just go outside when you're done and grab something wonderfully sweet at The Alchemist (on the side of the museum away from the Acropolis; Chatzichristou 8, Athens).

One of the best tours Anna was great

We had an excellent time. Do not try to do this on your own. Absolutely need to book a tour. There’s a lot of information that was given to us from Anna. She was so much fun. She had this great bright red hair so we could follow easily Go early in the morning as early as possible not only beat the heat but beat the crowds She knew where to stop always found a little private spot to talk to us and so therefore it never seemed like an exhausting and difficult walk A wonderful area to see there’s more than just the Parthenon obviously and and iAnna took a lot of care to make sure we were all together and understood everything HIGHLY recommend this tour It was just fantastic.

Couldn’t find starting location

We had difficulty finding the starting location and were 25 minutes late. We sent a text message to Viator and eventually our guide showed up. Tina did a great job of explaining many of the artifacts found from the Acropolis. I’m glad we didn’t miss the tour.

Not worth the money

Our guide was very knowledgable, but we weren’t able to really look around the museum like we would have on our own. It would have been better to just go on our own without a guide. By the time the tour was done, we didn’t have time to walk around more. I would say just go on your own and read the signs.

Amazing Athens
