I spent over an hour at the Portuguese Synagogue. The recreation of the Great Synagogue and all the interactive displays were superb.

Expected a walking tour, but told by 2 people we weren't on their list! Museum & synagogue were wonderful, but very disappointed with Viator

The Jewish History Museum was great with lots of old documents and portraits of life when the Jews and the Pilgrims were in Holland to escape religious persecution. There were good sections showing religious and civil/social life up to post-World war 2.
However, I bought tickets as a
part of a package to include the Portuguese synagogue, hoping to compare it to the Budapest one. The synagogue was closed for the week. We were told there would be a partial refund, but later could not find the phone number. I tried to contact Viator but got no reply.
So the museum was great, with subtle but excellent use of technology, but the vending was not. I would be happy to edit this review.

The synagogues were wonderful to see. Everyone was very nice, and we learned a lot about the Jewish experience in Amsterdam.

Worthwhile to see. We went through the museum backwards as there was no “Start Here” sign, just a flight of stairs that went up and down. It was a bit confusing but had many interactive videos to sit and watch which gave our feet a break.

The self-guided tour was great. It allowed me to see sites at my own pace and it was very educational. There was additional information provided by brochures about the Jewish quarter that also was very helpful. Amsterdam is a beautiful, friendly city that doesn't seem as affected as other european cities by xenophobia and illogical behavior. The price for the ticket was extremely reasonable.

You need to allow for at least 4 hours to see many of the fascinating exhibits. There are three main areas. The cafeteria soup was outstanding.

The tour was very good the only hang up was that the Starting Point of the Tour was not clearly indicated in the documents provided and even the local people near the point did not recognize the address.

Ik heb gewoon een ticket gekocht voor het museum, geen plattegrond voor de stad met audio wat ik had verwacht! Wat ook op de site stond! In het museum is de audio gewoon gratis!
We hadden 2 studenten bij ons als ik een kaartje ter plekke had gekocht was ik goedkoper uit geweest en ik had mijn kaart van de vrienden loterij ook kunnen gebruiken! Ik voel me een beetje belasterd.
Jullie zijn telefonisch en via de mail ook niet te bereiken!
Al met al zal ik dit aan niemand aanraden!

Experiencia horrible, no se presentó el guía en el punto de partida que me indicaron, debe ser que estaba lloviendo mucho y no le apeteció, nosotros empapados de agua esperando y muy decepcionados. Espero me reembolsen el dinero porque no cumplieron con lo acordado

nous aurions pu prendre directement l'audioguide au musée....ancun apport supplémentaire si ce n'est que nous avons perdu 10 bonnes minutes et avons du téléphoner car rien de prévu à la caisse ...meme prix par ailleurs..la visite par la suite était interessante
