Our guide James gave an excellent & informative tour. It was a well paced story & walk around the Jewish neighbourhood showing the impact of the nazi occupation on Jewish Community of Amsterdam. Revealing the unrecognised memorials & landmarks that tell the story. A recommended tour for your time in Amsterdam.

    Great experience, worth the time

    Chinmay_A, Jul 2026
The experience and was completely worth it. This thing has a character minimum of 100 characters so I am writing this to reach the minimum req.

Be aware that Anne Frank story’ history and home was a tiny part of this tour.

    Judy_N, Jul 2026
You need to know that you do not even see the house that Anne Frank lived in. Our tour ended 1.5km from that home. That was very disappointing for us. The guide, Aaron was very knowledgeable about the history from WW2 but that was only part of what we expected.

Walked through Jewish Quarter with knowledgeable, personable tour guide. Would be interesting particularly for history buffs. A truly dark time in history. Tour doesn’t include walking by Anne Frank’s house.

    Great educational value

James was a great guide. Well informed and well prepared. Hit many hi lights of the Jewish Quarter. Smooth all the way.

Very educational, good pace, learned more about what happened to the entire Jewish community vs just seeing the Anne Frank house.

An Incredibly Moving and Educational Tour

    Bob_W, Jun 2026
We thoroughly enjoyed this walking tour. It provided a powerful, deeply respectful look into Amsterdam’s history during WWII. We learned so much more than we expected about the regional Jewish community, their vibrant culture, and the challenges they faced. The guide, James, did an incredible job of weaving Anne Frank's personal story into the broader history of the neighborhood. Please note that this is entirely an outdoor walking tour; it does not take you inside the office or the Secret Annex where Anne Frank and her family hid. However, seeing the surrounding area completely changed how we viewed the city's architecture and historic sites. We high recommend this tour

Great way to learn about Jewish history in Amsterdam.

    Joan_S, Jun 2026
The guide was informative and knowledgeable. He engaged the group and had an American father and Dutch mother so his perspective was interesting. We enjoyed learning about the sights he pointed out.

Private tour of Jewish Quarter Amsterdam

    Anne_M, Jun 2026
Our guide Aaron gave us a most interesting and informative tour on the Jewish quarter. He is well educated in the area and very well spoken. The tour points out significant locations such as where the people had to register as Jews, where the Jewish council was, where they got their stars and so on. It also visits the memorial and explains the Hunger winter. Aaron is extremely knowledgeable about the Holocaust and we learned so much.

    Best tour!

    phyllis_f, Jun 2026
Best tour hands down! Our guide, Aaron was extremely knowledgeable and was able to explain any question you asked! He is truly one of the best tour guys we have ever had. Not knowing much of the history prior, we left with a wealth of information. Despite the rainy weather, Aaron was able to find dry spots and cover everything about the Jewish area!

    NOT what we paid FOR!!!!

    JACQUES_V, Jun 2026
Aaron was very knowledgeable, HOWEVER, he did not come prepared for a rain or shine tour. We did NOT see 1/2 of what we were supposed to see and were left 30 mins walk away from the Anne Frank museum/house. The whole group (8) were left to fend for ourselves to the final destination. We were told it was a rain or shine and we all came prepared but not Aaron. We definitely should get at least reimbursed for half the tour as it was not at all what we paid for!!!!!

    Unforgettable experience

Our tour guide, Scarlett, was a fount of information. There was so much to see and learn about that we wished the tour was about 30 minutes longer.

    Top Notch Tour

    A Tour to Remember

    Hanah_P, May 2026
James was our tour guide and he was fantastic. It's hard to put into words exactly what one should feel while on this tour. With everything that's going on in the world, it felt extra special to take this tour on Dodenherdenking (Remembrance Day) this year. I took one star off because the tour really needs to be renamed without Anne Frank in the title. The tour talks about the family a lot and therefore should absolutely remain in the description. I read reviews and descriptions extremely carefully and therefore knew exactly what to expect. Of course, a very nice couple showed up thinking they were going to the Anne Frank House and you could feel their disappointment. The title and photo just feels a little 'bait-y'. Like others have said, if you can't get into the Anne Frank House, you'll definitely get a broad perspective of what that community as a whole experienced on this tour. I found this from a travel blog that recommended it if you couldn't get tickets to the House and like I said above, it did not disappoint.

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback! We're honored that James helped make such a meaningful experience on Remembrance Day. We truly appreciate you sharing your reflection

A terrific tour lead by a terrific guide!

    Niki_K, May 2026
James was such a terrific guide!! He was so very knowledgable about this very important historical area. This tour was especially important as we took it on Remembrance Day. While most tourists just visit the Anne Frank house, this tour adds a whole deeper level of understanding to this area known as the Jewish Quarter. We now even have some followup to do on our own as James suggested several books to read and series to watch!! Very well worthwhile and would highly recommend!!!

Thank you for your wonderful review! We're delighted that James helped bring this important history to life, especially on such a meaningful day. We truly appreciate your kind words.

Amazing tour of an unforgettable time in history

    Louise_O, Apr 2026
The tour guide of the Jewish district in Amsterdam was remarkable- calm, thoughtful and deeply knowledgeable. He shared insights about the holocaust that I never heard before, and just as importantly, he helped us understand how such atrocities unfolded in full view of everyday people. His ability to present such difficult history with clarity and depth made the experience both moving and unforgettable. Without question, this was one of the best and unique tours of my travels- do not miss it!

Our guide was very genuine and clear. We got more information about this area than if we had just gotten on a tour of the Anne Frank House. Highly recommend this tour.

We never saw the Anne Frank house which is why I signed up to go. The tour was over and someone said “ we didn’t see the Anne Frank house” he said it’s just down the street and pointed in the direction…,,that’s why I took the tour! I was disappointed and had to find it myself which took awhile as this was my first time here.

This is a really worthwhile small group walking tour of the area known as the Jewish quarter during WW2. James are guide was so knowledgeable, affable, easy to understand and very open up discussion and questions. He showed things it would be easy to walk past - eg small plagues embedded in the stone paths and explained their meaning, took us to two memorials - the Jewish names listed in alphabetical order of the 130 000 Jewish killed in WW2 in Amsterdam, and the Auschwitz memorials as well as the building where the Jews were held before deportation. It was all moving and so interesting.

    Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thank you! We're very happy you enjoyed the tour with our guide James.

    Not the Anne Frank House!

Good intro to the history associated with the Jewish community in Amsterdam. Tour introduces you to concept of Stoppelsteins, frames the history of how the ghetto came to be. Erin was very knowledgeable and did a great job in providing his historical perspective and his personal insights given his studies in genocide.

    Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thanks for your feedback! Happy Erin could give you a clear and interesting introduction to Amsterdam’s Jewish history.
