Have Mariko introduce you to her city Kyoto

We were picked up by car and driven from Kobe to Kyoto for a full day tour. Our tour guide Mariko met us at the first location. Mariko was excellent. She was not native to Japan but had one parent that was Japanese. She was raised in Canada but had moved to Kyoto many years ago. She was fluent in both English and Japanese. Mariko's knowledge of Japan and the culture was excellent. She gave wonderful commentary and was able to answer all our questions. A highlight was exploring an arcade street (shotengai) which is a covered pedestrian shopping, eatery street. Mariko was able to teach us Japanese etiquette and point out interesting food stalls that she personally recommended. We had an appointment at 2:30 for a komono wearing and a tea ceremony and she got us to the appointment right on time. This tour was a mix of walking and transferring to different sites via car. This worked well and was time efficient.

Great variety of foods, delicious!

The choice of places to eat was really good and Sara was a nice and energetic host, so we enjoyed the tour a lot (and went to the same places the next day just to try some of the things like gyoza again, it was a-ma-zing). There was a really fun Australian guy in our group that made the evening even better, cheers to you, mate, if you're reading it! With love, a couple of weird Russians.

A wonderful tour of a beautiful park!

My wife and I were incredibly lucky to have our wonderful guide, Ayame, just to ourselves. She was knowledgeable, very friendly, and welcoming, and made the tour such a pleasant experience for us. I'm guessing, like many, I mainly booked the tour for the dear experience, yet we were blown away by what we saw, the park and temples were so serene and beautiful. The statues are truly magnificent! Well worth the money and a fabulous experience!

We had the most amazing guide in Karen, who made this tour a really great experience as she gave lots of information about the foods but also a lot of knowledge about Japanese customs and traditions. We had a lot of different traditionel Japanese food and all of it very delicious. Would highly recommend this tour.

Great Tour w/ Amy

We had a great time in this tour because of Amy. She’s a straight shooter with a wonderful sense of humor. Amy made it a point to set expectations from start to finish which included how to feed the deers in Narra (which my husband did not follow 🤣) to letting us know her favorite hot spots when we were headed to the Bamboo Forest. All together and in spite of the crazy crowd because of Golden Week, we managed to have a nice time.

Wonderful guide

Our guide was wonderful. Showed us the train system - didn’t work as we still got lost but not her fault. Visited the shrines on our list and she was so informative and interestingly. It was a long tiring day but worth it and she stopped regularly for drinks and lunch. Particularly loved the wee cafe she stopped at in the afternoon for tea and cake. All costs included which was a surprise.

Don’t miss out on this fun way to learn about sumo wrestling.

What an awesome experience! First, we learned about sumo and its history. Then we met the two sumo wrestlers, Kai and Ryuu, who would be performing today. They demonstrated legal and illegal moves. They threw in a little comedy, which was so fun. Next, they invited the audience to participate. How funny was that! Last, they gave everyone an opportunity to have their picture taken with Kai and Ryuu. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this experience to anyone wanting to have fun while learning about sumo wrestling. It’s totally worth the money.

Great Experience

This was such a fun experience! We had a great group of people, our guide was fantastic, and we got to explore various spots in Osaka that we never would have found on our own. Rio Oka handled the group so very well with a very large crowd and ensured that the group is there at every stop Kira san was very helpful and the driver Tomaka san ensured that we were safe and on time The trip with Shinkansen Bus and Ferry went very well with pouring rain the whole day Hiroshima Peace Centre was packed beyond capacity and Rio didn’t take us through the group reservation then it would be impossible to be out in a short time Miyajima trip was so beautiful and serene Okinomiya Lunch for vegetarian was not good as they didn’t have any other vegetables other than cabbage and they served the ones which was already cooked

Jorge was the highlight

Let’s start with the negatives, we did not get our tickets until 12hours before the bullet train, but that was the only bad thing. Jorge our guide was absolutely amazing, insightful, intelligent and personable. The information he provided for both sites plus life as a Japanese man was very useful, he gave history and then stories on how that history was forged, Ok and for the trip, Miyajima And the floating Tori gate was great, The shrines and temples, and the food all great. Hiroshima and peace park, Jorge had so much historical knowledge and really opened my eyes, Overall for anyone who is interested In Hiroshima book this tour but ask for Jorge.
