A great insight into Japanese food. The guide was amazing and made the tour lots of fun. The group of fellow travellers also made the evening very enjoyable too.

We booked this tour based on the excellent reviews, so our expectations were quite high. Unfortunately, our experience fell well below that.
The tour itself is decently structured and takes you to a few interesting spots, but the food was not particularly memorable or exceptional. We also ended the tour still somewhat hungry, which was surprising given how many reviews mention being very full.
The biggest issue, however, was the guide. From the beginning, the interaction felt off, but it became increasingly uncomfortable as the tour progressed. When we asked simple questions about the food or what was coming next, we often received dismissive responses like “trust me” or “you should chill,” rather than any meaningful explanation. At times, it felt like questions were not welcome at all.
This is especially disappointing on a food tour, where you expect to learn about the dishes and local culture. Instead, the lack of engagement and unfriendly attitude significantly impacted the overall experience.
Overall, while the concept of the tour has potential, our experience did not come close to matching the high ratings.

Nick is accommodating to the max, and for someone who grew up in the U.S., understands the needs of tourists’ is A MUST, and oh he speaks fluently and relates very well to the Japanese culture. Thank you Nick for a well deserved, and delivered knowledge of Osaka history from food, culture, common correct way of saying the language to the locals. The smart balls are a treat, it was entertaining to know “ what a fraction of skill “ is needed and what joy it brings! Okini and kudos for a job well done!

This was a great experience for my partner and I while we were in Osaka celebrating our honeymoon. The group was lively and friendly, our guide was engaging, and the food tremendous. What an amazing array of bites. We wanted a way to experience a wide range of Japanese cuisine in a short time with an expert to help us order and choose, and this was it! Highly recommend.

Really fun! We did three food tours, including this one, Tokyo and Kyoto and this was our favorite. Sarah was fantastic as a guide and the food and drinks were great.

This was a great small-group tour with a fun knowledgeable guide. We got to try a bunch of foods we probably wouldn't have tried otherwise.

Was a really good time, excellent food and got to try a lot of authentic osaka dishes.
Paul was a great guide and we made new friends with the others on the tour

This Osaka food tour was the best!! Mario was a fantastic guide and host, he was so knowledgeable about the area and Japan as a whole, we had the most enjoyable evening with him! The food was fantastic, every stop was fun, hospitable and a true joy. And we were stuffed at the end as there was so much food!!! It was a great evening, highly highly recommend this tour, and ask for Mario!!

Paul was the best guide. All of it was very delicious and it was fun to walk around Osaka in the evening. Would highly recommend!

This tour lives up to its billing. We ate and drank our way through the Shinsaibashi-suji district of Osaka. Our tour guide Eriko led us by so many eateries and had us stop at several restaurants where where we ate until we were full. We experienced many local dishes that we may not have tried on our own. A great tour and experience.
Renee_S, Apr 2026
Mario was a friendly host and gave information about Osaka in general and the various restaurant places we visited. The food was delicious but almost entirely fried foods. Maybe that is the Osaka specialty.
Charles_Z, Apr 2026
Fun experience with a group to walk around Osaka and get some history while sampling some local cuisine and beverages.

Had a fantastic time and our guide Rutti was great. He was very friendly and personable. Rutti also had a great way of explaining the area’s history and the significance of the food we had.

Must do in Osaka! We were with Paul and he was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic throughout. He took his time to interact with everyone and made sure everyone had something to eat that they enjoyed. We visited places that I'd never gone to on my own. Every dish we had was delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed this experience.

Mari was an exceptional guide. She was knowledgeable not only about the Food Tour, but also about life in Japan. She made great recommendations for us once the tour was finished. A really enjoyable tour and yummy.

We had a fantastic evening with Mario and our tour group as we explored around Tsutenkaku. As part of the tour, we were able to enjoy a good variety of local foods as well as some drinks throughout the evening. Mario was extremely knowledgeable and answered questions about the history of Osaka, Japanese culture, and cuisine. Overall, it was a fantastic way to spend our first night in the city!

So much fun and SO much food. We had the best tour guide ever (Taka) who made us laugh and kept us informed during the whole tour.

Awesome way to spend an evening in Osaka, group was kept small, conversation super friendly and welcoming, and the food and drinks of course were incredible. Great value! Our guide Rudy was 11/10 🙌🏻
Ashleigh_S, Apr 2026
We took this tour in April 2026 and had a great evening! We tried 10+ dishes with optional alcoholic beverages. Learned a lot about the Osaka and the local neighborhood too. Recommend for your trip if you love to eat!

There’s a reason this tour won a 2024 Viator award.
Come hungry—because you’re going to eat and drink your way through Osaka (non-alcoholic options available). The variety and quality were outstanding.
For me, the highlights were the chicken wings with nanban sauce and the Japanese gyoza (dumplings), but honestly, everything we tried was delicious.
What really elevated the experience was our guide. Bryan was one of the most energetic and engaged guides I’ve ever had. We were a small group of nine, and he quickly learned—and never forgot—everyone’s name, which made the tour feel personal from start to finish.
If you’re visiting Osaka, this tour is absolutely worth it. Highly recommended—and if you can, request Bryan.

We had an a great time on our food tour with Yuichi! Along with being a native Japanese he also has spent time abroad and is very knowledgeable of other food customs which made our tour with Yuichi feel very personalized. He also had notes on our allergies and kept it in mind as we went to the food spots. It was great to spend time with him in a local area of Osaka, where each venue offered dishes from the area and there was a LOT to eat. Yuichi also gave us the history on the foods we were trying what was great.
Be sure to come hungry and get ready to have a great time on this food tour.
