Book this Tour! It was excellent!

Kostas was an amazing guide and catered the tour to our wishes. We started our day at The Acropolis (morning is best)! He arranged the tickets for us as requested. We went to the Olympic Stadium, went to the top of Lycabettus Hill with beautiful views in his lovely van. He dropped us off in Plaka where we shopped and ate lunch, then picked us up and made a special stop at a supermarket so we could get a few things for the apartment we’re staying in. He is very knowledgeable about Greek history and also gave us many restaurant recommendations. It was a 12/10 day for us!!

“A Private Tour That Completely Changed How We Saw Athens

We had an absolutely phenomenal experience with our Athens tour guide, Dionisis. I’ll be honest — I’m usually not a “guided tour” person because they can sometimes feel rushed, generic, or overly scripted. This was the complete opposite. What made this experience exceptional was how personalized and private it felt. We were able to move at our own pace, ask questions freely, and really enjoy the day without feeling herded around in a large group. One thing I especially appreciated was that he explained the history and significance of the Acropolis before we entered. That preparation completely changed the experience for us because we actually understood what we were looking at while walking through it. Instead of just seeing ruins, we understood the stories, historical importance, and cultural meaning behind everything. His background and degrees in History and Archaeology truly elevated the entire experience. Every explanation was detailed, engaging, and thoughtful without ever feeling overwhelming. He took us to the highest peak in Athens where we had breathtaking panoramic views of the city, and he also brought us to the Presidential Palace where he thoroughly explained the traditions, symbolism, and history behind the Greek guards — including why they wear the uniforms they do and the meaning behind every ceremonial movement. Beyond the history itself, he recommended a fantastic local restaurant that ended up being one of the best meals of our trip. Most importantly, he was incredibly generous with his time, warm, thoughtful, and genuinely passionate about sharing Greece with us. A true wealth of knowledge and an outstanding human being. Day out on Athens!

We traveled with Christo and our trip was amazing. He took us everywhere to see Athens and he took us right to areas where we could get out the car and take pictures and walk around a little bit. We are seniors with mobility issues and this was the greatest way to go. Cristo took us everywhere and stopped and made sure we were able to get pictures of everything we saw Athens at its very best.

Great way to see Athens

This tour was great. Our guide, Jorge, picked us up at the cruise port. drove us all around Athens and dropped us and our bags at the hotel in the early afternoon. We added the Acropolis Museum and the Parthenon tours. A special highlight was seeing the guards at the presidential palace. Very good tour event and very helpful with our schedule.

Fun and informative.

The Tuk Tuk Tour of Athens was the perfect way to kick off our first day in the city. It struck such a great balance between fun and informative—we genuinely enjoyed every minute. Our guide was engaging and knowledgeable, sharing just the right amount of history without it ever feeling overwhelming. What made it especially worthwhile was how efficiently we were able to see all the key sites around Athens while getting a real sense of the city’s layout and culture. Riding through the streets in the tuk tuk added a unique, lighthearted touch that made the experience feel more personal and memorable than a typical tour. I will say—it felt a bit like being on an amusement ride at times. The tuk tuk can move pretty fast over uneven roads, which added to the thrill for us, but it may not be the best fit for anyone who prefers a smoother ride or has back issues. Highly recommend this as a first-day activity—it gave us a great foundation for the rest of our trip and set the tone in the best way.

Highly recommend. Worth every penny.

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and fun, engaging the whole family. He was excellent. I highly recommend a private tour, you learn so much more. Well worth the price. We also opted for the pick up option at the port. Our driver was amazing. Prompt, knowledgeable, and fun too. He gave us a city tour on our way back and we learned so much about history and Greek culture past and present. Tours in Athens can be chaotic- I know, I was here 5 years ago and took a cruise sponsored tour. This was so much better. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

History nerds make the best guides!

Our driver and guide Alex could not have been better! He was knowledgeable, passionate, personable, funny - and he has great taste in music! Alex is a true history buff and he added so much to our already incredible experience visiting the Temple of Poseidon with stops and viewpoints along the way. I highly, highly recommend this tour and you should absolutely request Alex as your guide, you won’t be disappointed! We decided to go shortly before the sunset crowds and we were very happy with that choice as we practically had the temple to ourselves!

Excellent tour!

Our group consisted of two adults and two kids (ages 10 & 12). Our tour guide was very friendly, accommodating, and SO knowledgeable. She was excellent with keeping even the kids interested and entertained. She even took family photos, which I am SO grateful for as I never seem to get one of those when we travel. I would definitely recommend the experience to others.

Awesome day in Athens!

We arrived in Athens on the day of a massive taxi driver/ tour operator strike. All excursions from the cruise ship were canceled, and passengers were scrambling to make other plans. Our Viator booking called us to relieve our concerns that they were fully operational. The driver was fantastic. He chatted with us and discussed the places that would be best for us to visit- the best part of a private car is that you make your own itinerary. He took us to several historic locations and the changing of the guards and still made it to our reservation at the Acropolis with time to spare. He gave us tips for each location and we had conversations about the historical significance of each place. He took us away from the crowds of tourists to an authentic Greek bakery with amazing delicacies and ice-cold drinks. The lack of tourist traffic allowed for several extra locations, and our driver made the most of our time in Athens. Highly recommended!
