What are people saying about Tokyo
Val_M, Sep 2026
11/10. Would tour again.
We didn't realize Japan was in tsunami season.
Didn't matter.
We loved it. My wife and preteen kiddo were instantly captivated and loved our trip. Granted, we are fairly adventurous which made it easier for us to enjoy our trip.
To start, google maps sucked ass and showed us the souther entrance of the temple we were supposed to meet. so if you book and you meet, make sure to meet on the eastern side. The reason I bring this up is because Elly was very patient and put up with my stupidity, and took it in stride. So thanks Elly!
We enjoyed the temple we visted first. It was a unique temple made out of granite which is something we didn't expect. We loved learning of the tradition and history. It opened all of our eyes (although our kid wasn't a fan of the incense smell but that's a him problem).
The trip to the Tsukiji market was short. Elly is patient and extremely knowledgeable. We asked how long it took her to become fluent and she said 6 months. It shows! Our first stop was a "tuna steak skewer" shop. I personally didn't want to try it but that's because in the USA tuna steak is dry and un appetizing. I WAS WRONG. It was so juicy. My wife said it tasted like chicken but I thought it was so juicy and it's own thing. Elly knows her stuff! It was excellent. I shoulda had more.
She knew all the streets and showed us the stalls she recommended; none of which were disappointing. Elly asked if we were adventourous and I/we realized we are not as adventourous as we thought. However she knew where to go and where we should try to eat. I'm happy my wife wanted to try the stuff she wanted to try and so did my kid. I didn't have an opinion because I wanted them to enjoy what they wanted to enjoy. However my opinion was it was all excellent, even though we couldn't finish it all because it was a lot of food.
I personally like exploring myself however in this case, I'm glad we expereinced the market with Elly because she made it more digestible, showed us places we wouldn't otherwise have "found". Elly single handedly made our experinece better and we're glad we met her. She seems like a great person and if you're wondering if you should tour with her, please take our experience to say: yes, you should.
Awesome tour!

Fun experience
We had a fun food tour with Izzy! She was so fun, and took us to some great places to eat. I'm always happy when I get to try something I've never had before, and she made that happen. The food was tasty, and she taught us some fun facts about Shinjuku. I would recommend this tour.

Great quick journey through Tsujiki market
Amazing! Let’s start there. This was booked few days in advance and did it the day before we were due to head back home. So we’ve seen and eaten at many a markets up until this point but not with a guide. We had our best eats with George! So worth the early morning wake up (we did 0800). Booked with our three young kids so this was definitely family friendly. Highly recommend.

Amazing, delicious & insightful tour!
This was an amazing tour - our tour guide Brian was great, and we loved getting to learn about the history of some of the foods and veganism in Japan. The foods we had were delicious and we got to experience places and foods we wouldn't have known how to find otherwise!
This wasn't the tour guide's fault at all - he was brilliant - but we were sent to the wrong meeting place by Viator and we had to travel an additional 15 mins or so by subway, and we ended up late. Please just double check and ensure the meeting place is correct!

We of course picked the...
We of course picked the hottest summer day in Tokyo for this tour. Nevertheless, our guide made this a fun and engaging experience. The insight about the entrance gate, the street vendors, the cleansing water, and of course the temple was worth enduring the heat and humidity. The stops for refreshments along the way provided the needed momentary respite. Would be interested in doing this tour again on a future visit during the spring. Recommend this as a must-do tour!

We had a great time...
We had a great time exploring the Meiji Shrine, fish market and Asakusa with Kenji on a morning tour! He provided good information on each site, gave us plenty of time to explore on our own and helped with navigating the train. Kenji was a great guide!

Kaori was the best!
Kaori was our guide for the Harajuku Tour and she was amazing. She communicated clearly before the tour and arranged an easy meeting spot. She was so pleasant and ensured that each family member was able to do what made them happy, from trying great foods, to specific shopping stores to the amazing cafes. She took pictures the whole time and shared so much knowledge with us. Walking around Harajuku is fun by yourself, but even better with Kaori!

Tsukiji Fish Market Tour Highly Recommended
We had an outstanding experience on the Tsukiji Fish Market Tour with our knowledgeable guide, Rie. She brought the market to life with fascinating insights, great recommendations, and a warm, friendly approach that made the tour both fun and informative. From learning about the history of Tsukiji to sampling delicious local specialties, every stop felt thoughtfully chosen. Rie’s expertise and enthusiasm made this one of the highlights of our trip. Highly recommended!

Shinjuku Food Tour
We met on one side of Shinjuku and walked over from side to the other side. Be ready to walk. Lloyd, who was our guide, did a good job giving this tour. At each stop gave a little history and briefing and we all got to try a variety of food from Shinjuku. We tried food from a Izakaya, pork cutlets from a historical restaurant , food from Okinawa cuisine and dessert. Overall four good choices.

Fun Food with Ryu
We had the best time with Ryu. He took us to a variety of local food spots. We had dumplings, noodles with tempura, a variety of skewers, and custard filled pastries for dessert. All were delicious and filling. Ryu filled us in on everyday life in Japan. I would recommend this tour it was delicious, entertaining, and educational.

Yummy and fun with Taiga
We had an amazing tour with Taiga! So knowledgeable and fun. He really knows his fish and made the experience unforgettable. One of the best food tours we have done. Come hungry and leave stuffed. We started with full sushi meal and ended with matcha treat with plenty in between. A true Tokyo experience and highlight of our visit.

Great experience with a...
Great experience with a guide who really knew her way around the market. The description of the experience should be more clear on what to expect, but the tour guide (with limited exception) paid for most of our tasting experiences throughout the market. She did a great job making sure multiple group participants with different preferences had their needs met.
