Superb trip. Highly recommended!
Sabir, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable (he is a well regarded expert in Egyptology) and warm. Excellent with children and went over and beyond to accomodate us. The driver was on time, and the vehicle was spacious, clean and air conditioned! Sabir knew everyone and ensured we were not taken advantage of re pricing, tips etc. The trip itself was superb and the Valley of the Kings tombs as well as the Hatsheput temple are a must-see. Worth every penny!

Everything Luxor In One Day
I will share information with you that I not already listed under the tour information. - Expect a FULL day. We were picked up at 4AM and dropped off at 6PM. - The hot air balloon ride is highly dependent on near perfect conditions. Be mentally prepared if it doesn't work out. - A photo and video service during the balloon will be offered for an additional 25€ (the quality of pictures taken were great) - After the hot air balloon ride, we're surprised to continue with a private tour (with the famous Dr. Mo) - At the valley of the kings, although the ticket allows 3 tombs we only had time to see 2. - For Dr. Mo to tell us the story of King Tut, it was an additional $30USD/person. I didn't feel it was worth it. You can read the information off the informational board. - The place you will be brought for lunch is a tourist trap, about $20USD per person. - The tour brought us to hands on experiences- Alabaster Store, Perfume, and Papyrus. It was very cool, but every place we went I felt obligated to buy something, hopefully you can have better will power than me! Don't be afraid to negotiate!!! It was be better to split all the things we saw between 2-3 days. But if you only have one day like us, this is a great tour!

Best Way to see Abu Simbel (with driver Mark)
Our driver Morkos Hana (Mark) was excellent. Picked us (4 pax) up onboard our Viking ship at exactly 4:00 AM. He brought water and snacks for us and was full of interesting information about Abu Simbel and southern Egypt. Drove very safely in our newish Toyota Hiace van. Had a timely restroom stop halfway into the 3-hour drive. Morkos had tickets for us upon arrival and connected us with the best guide- Tiger. The temples are spectacular and the guide was very good. The return trip was smooth and restful- I think we all napped a bit on the way back. As for the Viator part…the booking was a little frustrating. I never could select the correct pick-up point because the preset choices were all hotels…”cruise ships” or the port were not options. Right to the last day, Viator threatened to cancel if I didn’t select a pick-up point. I was finally able to message the operator to let them know we were on a Viking ship. Also frustrating was that we bought the Luxury Tour, including entrance fees….but our itinerary and receipt continued to list entrance fees as “not included”. It wasn’t until we actually arrived at Abu Simbel that we were positive that tickets were indeed included. All-in-all a great experience, but the VIATOUR site could use a little tweaking.

Exceptional Guide Who Made Luxor Come Alive
One of the best tour guides I have ever encountered in my travels. Ayman was extremely friendly, professional, and deeply knowledgeable not only about the monuments and temples we visited in Luxor, but about history in general as well. You could truly feel his passion and experience throughout the entire tour. What stood out even more was his honesty and genuine care for us as visitors. He warned us about common tourist scams, gave useful local advice, and made sure we felt comfortable and safe during the whole experience. Thanks to him, Luxor felt much more authentic and enjoyable rather than just another tourist destination. He transformed the experience from simply “seeing monuments” into actually understanding the civilization, culture, and stories behind them. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Luxor who wants a memorable and trustworthy guide.

Not seeing something you are looking for?

As Egypt’s one-time ancient capital of Thebes, Luxor boasts numerous antiquities. But it’s also within easy reach of many other historical highlights, so it’s a dream destination for day-trippers. Topping the agenda are Luxor day trips that showcase West and East Bank must-sees such as the Valley of Kings’ tombs with an Egyptologist guide—some include extras such as lunch and hot-air balloon flights. Other Luxor day trips venture further afield to the Dendera and Abydos temples, explore Aswan or UNESCO-listed Abu Simbel, or even go snorkeling in Hurghada on the Red Sea.
