We did this tour on March, 20 2026. After cruising the Nile we were excited to round out that trip with a tour of Abu Simbel. Hany made this process smooth, fast and relaxing.
Once our tour was confirmed he was communicative and kind, picking us up directly from the lobby of our ship. He arrived early with water & snacks in the back seat for us
The car was clean and comfortable, so much so that I was able to sleep for several hours of our journey - something my husband can attest that I never feel relaxed enough to do.
Once we arrived it became clear that our 4 am pickup time from Aswan was worth it as we were one of the first people at the temples. Our guide met us and explained what we would see (guides cannot explain inside the temples) and we had time to explore getting photos that I never thought possible before the crowds descended. By the time we took a second visit to the temples an hour later there was a wait to get inside. It was clear that Hany’s efforts to get us there early paid off again!
We left happy and made our 1430 flight to Cairo without issue. Add this tour to the end of your cruise and you will be happy you did!

An absolutely fantastic experience visiting Abu Simbel with Hany our driver and Hany our guide.
Our driver was kind, considerate, and very knowledgeable, providing information and snacks across our journey. The car was clean and comfortable for the long journey.
Our guide at Abu Simbel showed us points of interest, whilst also giving us time to explore on our own.

I did a private day trip to Abu Simbel from Aswan, and being solo made it perfectly relaxed and flexible—no group rush, just me taking my time.
The temples blew me away. The Great Temple’s huge facade with the four massive Ramses II statues carved into the mountain is stunning and imposing up close.
Inside, the detailed reliefs and halls are incredible, especially the inner sanctuary with its mystical vibe and famous sun alignment story.
The smaller Nefertari Temple is equally gorgeous, with elegant statues and beautiful carvings.
Big thanks to both Hanys! Driver Hany picked me up on time in a comfy, AC car, drove the 3-hour each-way route smoothly, kept me hydrated, shared fun facts, and stopped for photos—his friendly professionalism made the drive enjoyable.
At the site, local guide Hany was excellent—knowledgeable and patient, he explained the history, 1960s relocation, symbolism, and hidden details, answering all my questions while giving me plenty of time.
Early arrival meant fewer crowds and beautiful morning light for peaceful photos and reflection. Everything was seamless and well-organized.
Highly recommend this private tour—the temples are ancient wonders, and with driver Hany and guide Hany, it was stress-free and unforgettable. 10/10!

Hany was a wonderful driver and pointed out lots of interesting sights along the road from Aswan. He speaks very good English and we enjoyed his company on the long drive.
Hany provided snacks and drinks and we stopped for coffee en route. Abu Simbel was superb and the guide there was very good too.
Although the 3 hour drive each way is a long day trip, it is well worth it.

This was the perfect way to travel! Hany was waiting for us at Aswan Airport, safely drove us to explore the amazing Abu Simbel temples, and then dropped us off in Aswan. The vehicle was spotless, and Hany’s careful driving made us feel completely secure the entire trip. He is wonderfully sweet and went above and beyond by explaining the interesting things we passed on the drive. If you need a transfer, ask for Hany!

Hany the driver was really friendly, kind and knew his job. He did his best to arrive in time to avoid the crowd. Even though we had a small accident (flat tire) he dealt the situation with patience and managed to complete the “mission” successfully. This Abu Simbel tour was truly an unforgettable experience. Everything was well organized, and the temples were even more impressive than I imagined. Our driver, Mr. Mina, and Huney were incredibly kind, professional, and made the whole journey comfortable and enjoyable. The driver was on time to pick us up and he provided information throughout the 3 hour drive, making the time fly. We stopped enroute for a break and overall the trip went quickly. Once we arrived at Abu Simbel, we were transfered to someone who then took us to our guide. Note - this does not end up being a private tour; we were added to another group of 3 when we connected with our guide. The guide was...terrible! He pointed at the outside of the temple, gave us a couple of quick facts and then told us he couldn't join us inside so we had 45 minutes of free time before we were to meet up with him outside the gift shop. We were at the allotted location on time, but he didn't show up for another 10 minutes. When he showed up, he demanded a tip before telling us to follow the path to the parking lot to find our driver. This guide was an epic failure. There was absolutely no value in having a guide at this site. The driver, however, was excellent.

Wonderful trip! Our driver, Hany, was so lovely! He even had snacks and water for us in the car, which was an unexpected treat. Our guide at Abu Simbel, a different Hany, was super friendly and informative. Abu Simbel is beautiful and well worth the drive. We left Aswan at 8:30am and got back around 5:30pm, which made it a nice leisurely day with fewer crowds.

We had a smooth pick up and drop. The quality of the car was also good. The driver also drove very well and was safe.
Ahmed explained us the history and significance of the temples. He was patient, friendly, and ensured we had enough time to explore, take photos, and absorb the beauty of this magnificent site. Highly recommend to anyone visiting!

The car was very comfortable and our driver was friendly and careful.
The egyptologist in Abu Simbel gave some basic information, but I would have liked more context. It was hard to ask specific questions without extra context.

Excellent EXCEPT there is NO LUXURY LIMO, which we paid extra for. Our knees were pressed against the back seat of the Mitsubishi Expander. My husband is 6'2" and I am 5'11". This was the only vehicle used for a two person private tour, per the tour operator. There is no luxury limo. Bait and switch? We paid the extra $60.00 charge for the "limo", which does not exist. We did not expect an "American style limousine". We did expect a comfortable car we would fit in, for the 6+ hours ride. The tour operator has told me twice he will not refund the difference. From the tour operator "This is what everyone recommended as an MVP car, not a van. This is the largest for 2 ppl". Even though the tour we purchased said "Luxury Limo", that does not exist and apparently neither does the extra $60 we paid.
Our driver and guide were excellent! Omar (guide) and Hany (driver). Omars knowledge was exceptional. He allowed the appropriate amount of time at each site and explained everything we were seeing. Our driver knew the roads impeccably!
I would very highly recommend the tour but I would not recommend the luxury limo upgrade. It doesn't exist.

Our driver Hany provided outstanding service for our private tour from Aswan to Abu Simbel. He arrived early for pickup and maintained excellent communication via WhatsApp throughout the booking process.
The professionalism was evident from start to finish - he came prepared with complimentary snacks and water for the journey, which was much appreciated given the distance. What elevated the experience was his knowledge of the region’s history. He shared fascinating insights about the landscape and sites we passed, making the long drive engaging and educational.
He also demonstrated good judgment in selecting rest stops, choosing locations that were clean and well-stocked so I could stretch my legs and grab additional refreshments as needed.
For anyone planning the Abu Simbel trip from Aswan, I highly recommend booking a private tour with Hany. The convenience, comfort, and added historical context made it well worth it.

It was initially challenging to reach the tour company to arrange pickup, as the number provided didn’t work and they didn’t proactively reach out. We did, however, have a very nice SUV for the drive and a friendly driver. The guide at Abu Simbel was informative and pleasant.
Unfortunately, the return journey soured the experience. We paid top dollar for this tour specifically so we would have a comfortable car and an easy trip. When I told the driver that we were staying in a guesthouse in a Nubian Village, he informed us that we would need to transfer to a tuk-tuk to reach our accommodation. This sounded reasonable (and was disclosed in the ad), but the way this transfer was arranged and executed left a lot to be desired.
He stopped on the side of a four-lane divided highway, on the opposite side from the tuk-tuks, and waved down a cargo trike—which, luckily, crossed to our side of the highway. He loaded our bags, which completely filled the cargo bed, and then indicated that we would ride on top of our suitcases in the back. We set off on a very long ride through a very dusty village with a driver who didn’t seem to know where he was going.
While I understand that this tour company does not drive into the village, it would have been nice if our driver had taken a bit more care in getting us to our final destination.

The hotel you asked to be dropped off is out of the picking up or dropping off zone and we tried to help as much as possible since cars can't reach into this spot due to infrastructure replacement and digged streets so only tuk tuk can reach into there .

The trip started on-time at 08:00 AM with pickup at my cruise ship dock by the driver, Romany. His small SUV was clean and comfortable, with blackout shades in the windows for those who want a nap. The drive began with quick stops in Aswan for water & snacks and then gas for the long journey. The road is bumpy and really rough in spots, but we cruised for most of it. Mobile service worked off and on for the first hour, but then in the middle of the drive, it was gone. No WiFi was offered to me, but I also didn’t ask. I was happy to unplug and do some offline things for the rest of the drive. About halfway to Abu Simbel, Romany stopped at a shop/market for us to have a restroom break.
Upon arrival at Abu Simbel about 12:00 PM, my super friendly tour guide Wallid was ready and waiting. He gave me an excellent overview of the site and its history at the visitor center and led me to the walkway to the two temples. He’s a native resident of Abu Simbel, and his father worked on the relocation of the temple in the 1960s. A genuinely sweet man with good English. I then met up with him after visiting the temples. He asked if I had any questions, and we parted ways from there.
After the temple visit, Romany took me to a fantastic local Abu Simbel restaurant he highly recommended called Elmodhesh Fish Restaurant. He said it was the best fish in the area. And my meal was one of the best I experienced during my trip to Egypt. I had Fish Tagine with rice, fresh bread & tahini. The cost with drink was just 500 EGP or $10 USD.
The drive back was long and a bit tiring with the bumpy, rough road. But we made it back to my hotel (the Movenpick Aswan) by 19:00 (7:00 PM). It was an 11-hour day, but definitely a memorable, safe, and enjoyable trip. I definitely recommend this tour if you want to visit Abu Simbel by private car from Aswan.

We had a great experience today thanks to our super experienced driver Hany Amir. It’s a long way to Abu Simbel, and Hany made the drive so enjoyable by introducing us the scenes along the way (such as the natural pyramids, the farms, and the mirage in the desert). After visiting Abu Simbel for two hours, he took us to a fish restaurant in Abu Simbel and both the fish and the tajine were so tasty! Along the way we also stopped at a coffee shop with two cute cats 🐱 🐱 Overall, the ride is smooth and the car is spacious and clean, and the long trip to Abu Simbel is definitely worth it.

The driver was incredible. We got there faster than most of the other buses. I recommend the 4 am pic up. The car was clean and relaxing. We slept most of the way there and back. We had a great experience visiting Abu Simbel which is a must for anyone traveling in Egypt. We are a family of three and we had a 7 seat car all to ourselves.
