The BEST Way to See a City
I recommend the Hop On Hop Off bus experience for any city you visit. I have used it in 4 different European cities. The bus gives you a great orientation to the city, historical information and anecdotes, through ear buds, as you travel by the location. If you get the 48 hour ticket, it’s helpful for traveling to sights you may want to get off, visit and then hop back on to another location.

Phenomenal tour
This is a fantastic tour and we could not have had a better experience thanks to our tour guide, Linda. Linda is warm, funny, super knowledgeable and integrated each of us into the tour. The audio equipment was perfect and very much appreciated. It was great to skip the line at the castle especially in August in Edinburgh. I learned a lot about the history, architecture, and culture of Scotland.

Great tour, Graeme was supper cool!
We almost missed out on Edinburgh castle because tickets were sold out for the days we were there! We went in early August. Thank goodness Viator had tours with included castle tickets. Our tour guide was fun and knowledgeable- we chose Graeme out of the 2 tour guide options because he was very tall and we could spot him easily in the huge crowd of tourists. We chose well ;) Thanks Graeme!!

Best way to learn and wonder around Edinburgh!
The tour was great got to wonder around the most emblematic areas of the old town of Edinburgh while Euan our guide told us all about it in a fun, digestible and informative way, perfect combination of history, stories and even some poetry. Would highly recommend.

Our family had a great...
Our family had a great experience on a tour led by John Kincaid. John was a performer who brought Edinburgh urban myths and history to life. If you appreciate mysterious, slightly eerie outings that are both educational and entertaining, this tour is an absolute must.

Castle with Sonia
Dress warmly. Windy and chilly even in August and the wind is unbelievable. A good raincoat a must. The castle is stunning and awe inspiring . Don’t miss the was chapel. The windows are amazing. Sonia was a fantastic guide and made sure we had all the information we needed to see everything.

Excellent Harry Potter Tour
This is a great tour for any Harry Potter fan. Leo did an excellent job highlighting the history and background for where the it all started and the influences behind characters and themes within the novels. Leo was very engaging and made the tour fun, he was also great with kids. I highly recommend this tour during your stay in Edinburgh.

Nicole was awesome! Best way to see Edinburgh
We did the 11am tour with Nicole and she totally nailed the timing so we could catch the 1pm gun at the castle. We happened to be there on day one of the Fringe Festival, so the Royal Mile was insanely crowded and loud with street performers everywhere. Somehow Nicole still managed to find quiet little spots to fill us in on the history without having to yell over the noise.
She clearly knows the area inside and out, and her stories about Edinburgh, the Royal Mile, and the castle gave us a great feel for the city right off the bat. If you can request her, do it!

All the Scottish highlights
Absolutely loved our food tour with Tamara. She was fun, friendly, and full of information on the food we were sampling and the city of Edinburgh. We had 4 stops, although I understand they can vary. Ours definitely hit Scottish highlights:
Stop 1: Haggis, neeps and tatties. To drink, Irn Bru
Stop 2: Scotch Egg
Stop 3: White fish and wine
Stop 4: Sticky Toffee Pudding. To drink, whiskey or beer
We all left full, but not too full. We have done a lot of food tours in a lot of different countries and this ranks amongst the best.

Excellent food and guide!
Luana was awesome. We had 8 in our group and 12 total. She was so knowledgeable and really understood Scottish food culture. Excellent choices if restaurants - cullin skink, haggis pops, fish and chips and whiskey ice cream. Well paced. Fantastic experience!

Definitely book!
Stuart was our guide on a rainy day and it was totally worth it! He’s a wealth of knowledge and helped us find areas we would not have found on our own. He also provided us with insight into many of the buildings we had passed by and made it a more meaningful experience!

Food, Fun, Friends!
This tour was worth the time and money! Our guide Carlos was knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. We learned a lot about the city of Edinburgh and the country of Scotland, sampled some delicious food, and sipped on some local whiskey. Lots of history, laughs, and food were shared with new friends.
