Awesome Private Nile Cruise for 2!
Through Viator, I booked a lovely private Felucca sail boat lunch cruise for my husband and I. We were picked up at our hotel right on time, in a clean, well kept A/C sedan & brought straight to the marina. Due to high winds affecting sailboats that day, instead of canceling our booking, our amazing Tour Guide, Ahmed Khairy, gave us private use of an alternative-a semi-covered motorboat, still with private lunch, baklava+ desserts, water, teas (hibiscus+), smoothies and fresh rose petals to boot! This boat can host about 4-6 tables of guests, but we had the boat all to ourselves with our guide, Captain Saeed and his First Mate. The chicken skewers over rice, sauces, salad, pita, hummus lumch was deliciosly prepared by chef Ashraf & his two lady chefs. Before our cruise, Ahmed assisted with great photos of us on the cute novelty car boats at the marina. Our Nile Cruise was calm, quiet, safe & steady, beautiful breeze with locsl sites pointed out, as well as more pix with different poses/backgrounds assisted by Ahmed. He was absolutely attenrive to all our needs throughout the lunch, the 2 hour cruise and after in the drive back to our hotel. There are restrooms at the marina, with an attendant, in case you’d like to use it prior to boating. There is also a smoothie/drink stand. We had a great time & are super glad we booked something nice & private after days of bustling tours between Cairo & Luxor.where it was sweltering. We highly tecommend this nice tour & would return with family & friends, maybe try the nreakfast or dinner versuon as well. Thanks so much for a wonderful time, Ahmed!

O.U.T.S.T.A.N.D.I.N.G!!! My husband and I booked this activity on our first day in Egypt and it hands down exceeded any expectation my imagination could conjure. Mohamad Hisham was our guide and our driver was Hassa; they picked us up from our hotel right on schedule. After all 6 travelers were picked up we traveled through Fayoum. Along the way Mohamad shared cultural insights about the area and the people who lived there. Once we arrived in Wady El Rayan, we hit the Sand dunes by 4x4 and that was an adventure! Our Sand Bashing driver Muhammad (a different person) made sure we felt how wild and free the desert can be; at times it felt like riding wild waves of sand. Next we went Sand boarding, rode camels by a body of water that led to a WATERFALL. If you didn't ride camels you could ride a horse or go on a boat ride. We then took panoramic views on top of mountains by an oasis and concluded our time in the desert by having BBQ in a Bedouin nomadic campsite. They offered to take our photos while we lived in the moment and even guided us on some creative poses. I thought that was the end of the tour but we then traveled back to Kairo and learned how papyrus paper was made as well as Egyptian incense and perfumes (Bonus activities!) Mohamad, Hassa and the rest of the team were so hospitable and incredible. What added to the experience was that they each seemed to really enjoy the work they did and had strong rapport with each other which made the day really fun. I could not recommend this tour enough and am so glad we got to experience it!

Well-organized tour with great guide, but weak communication and food
Overall, we were satisfied with the excursion. We were picked up from the hotel at 3:30 AM and the driver was punctual. However, until the very last moment we did not know who would pick us up or what vehicle it would be, despite asking several times — including shortly before 3:30 AM. The communication definitely needs improvement. In Luxor, the driver welcomed us with a sign from Emo Tours Egypt. We were taken to all the scheduled places, but overall there was not enough time to truly enjoy each site. At the restaurant, we ate the food not because it was tasty, but because we were hungry. I would honestly prefer the tour to cost €615 instead of €600, but to include a genuinely good restaurant with quality food. The waiter greeted us wearing an extremely dirty shirt, stained with food and drinks, which made a very poor impression. The only thing that was actually good was the baklava. At the alabaster souvenir shop, we were asked $25 for a small candle holder. We did not buy anything there. Later, we bought the same items at Khan el-Khalili in Cairo for $5 each. We are truly grateful to the driver, Hossam Al-Aqsar — a very kind and professional person — and to the Egyptologist/tour guide Mohammed El Tahibe, who explained everything in great detail. Tip for travelers: buy your own water (it is cheap, around 10 EGP) and bring it with you. The three tombs in the Valley of the Kings are more than sufficient; the Tomb of Tutankhamun is very small and not worth it, as all artifacts are now in the Grand Egyptian Museum.
