Charming city of Valencia!

We were a larger than usual group (10) but Alex managed the tour brilliantly. We had five different stops on the route tasting a variety of tapas and drinks. Alex also told us about some of the history of Valencia and he was happy to answer any questions. A really fun few hours exploring this beautiful city.

We had a fantastic day with Alex on our Valencia Food Tour. We were extremely lucky to be the only two people on the tour, so really had a personal experience. Not only was the food and drink delicious, Alex was very knowledgeable about the history of Valencia. Truly worth it!!!!

Luxury tapas means lots of alcohol with some tapas

A few weeks before our trip the guide asked us to change the date to 2 days earlier. We were able to make changes to accommodate that - then a few days before he asked to change the start time to earlier. 11 am seemed early to start eating tapas but we agreed. When we met the group the guide seemed distracted, moved quickly, and was hard to follow through some of the crowded areas. I had to ask him to face the group when he spoke so we could hear him. This should be called an alcohol tour with tapas because he had us starting with a vermouth tasting at 11 am. There was a lot of wine with small portions of tapas. The last stop was a pitcher of Aqua de Valencia which was great, but no food to balance the quantity of alcohol. Overall the guide provided interesting historical. Information and some interesting restaurants for tapas, including the Central Market. The cost seemed high, though, for what we received.

A history lesson and tour of the old landmarks were unexpected highlights of this experience. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Our guide Alex was very patient with the slow walking pace of our group and gave us plenty of time for taking photos along the way. The culinary offerings were outstanding! Overall this was well worth it! Highly recommend.

We loved our tour with Maria, lots of historical knowledge and the food was fabulous. Some of us do not like fish and she ensured we all were able to get something else to eat. Drinks were super good, 5 drinks in total. Maria was fun and ready for any question you had.

Tour Title is Misleading

Disappointed that we did not sample Horchata, despite it being at important drink associated with Valencia, and despite the tour meeting point being outside the Horchatería de Santa Catalina. Instead, we sampled Vermouth, which may be popular in Valencia but surely is more associated with Italy. Also disappointed that there was much explanation about the history of Valencia. Would have expected only explanation about food and drink. Should be called Tapas and History Tour.

First of all, thanks a lot for doing a tour with us Bryan. We have the meeting point indeed in front of a Horchateria, a typical Valencian drink. Horchata used to be part of this tour, however, since so many people that we take there usually do not enjoy it, we decided to take it out of the tastings and enjoy other good(and local) things instead. We always show you the most famous Horchateria so you have the option to try it, but have excluded it from the tour for reasons mentioned above. Vermut, as you mention, got famous because an Italian distillery picked it up centuries ago, but has been an essential part of Spanish culture(and still is). During Franco’s regime, ‘La hora de Vermut’ was a great way of meeting friends and go for a ‘Vermut’ instead of for example going for a tea or coffee as they do in certain other cultures. Last decades, more and more Spanish producers have become famous for its Vermut, and the one we sample during the tour is made with Valencian wine and typical Valencian herbs and spices, very popular among Valencian locals and a very Spanish tradition. During the tour and in between of the tastings of the (high quality) tapas and drinks(local Vermut, local but very good wines, Agua de Valencia, etc.), we normally always try to tell you more about the city of Valencia and tell you some things about its history as well. This is mainly about the connection between the history of Valencia and the food. For example, when the Moors came to Valencia they brought the oranges and the rice, things Valencia is very famous for but it is nice to know that these things would not have been in Valencia were it not for its rich history. This is why we usually include some history to it. Of course, since we never go in big groups, you can always ask the guide about other things or just let them know if you prefer to get more information about other things. This is one of the nice things of our tours, our groups are never very big and this way it stays very interactive. We are dissappointed anyhow that you did not fully enjoy our tour. Usually everyone really like our tours, as you can see from the almost 100% positive reviews. If you ever come back to Valencia in the future, please let us know through info@morevalencia.com and we will try to make a more personalized offer for you.

Great tapas tour

We had a great experience with just our small group of four! Alex was great showing us around and shared information about the different places we visited! We loved the central market and visited a couple of days later again! We also enjoyed very nice sardines in a small place near the market. We would definitely recommend this tour!

Me and my friend had this tour on the Christmas eve which added great atmosphere and joy. Our guide Maria was a knowledgeable and very nice person who introduced us to some hidden gems that we would never find ourselves. We were lucky to have this tour on our first day, so we used our chances to return again to that places. The tour was a great combination of historical insights like going inside the Silk exchange and trying great local food & vines. Thank you, Maria!
