San José Caves

Malika_C, Jul 2026
I love underground caves, especially ones that have under rivers so when I was recommended this activity by a friend, I literally jumped at it & quickly booked myself on to it when I was still at the UK airport! Glad I did. The 1st part which was the bus ride to the caves & Tour guide giving info on historic landmarks we passed was ok. I took a few pictures & listened to the guide but admittedly after a while I started to zone out & fall asleep. I wasn't the only one too lol The caves themselves were good - heads up you'll spend quite a bit off time ducking your head as some of those cave ceilings are crazy low ( thankfully Tour guide had warned us in advance about this but even then it still surprises you!)

Dissatisfied

Noel_C, Jul 2026
Was guided by a third party site to book this outing and the date got changed unknown to us.. Got a call asking where we were and I explained we were not in Valencia. I explained the mix up and said it wasn’t my fault but we lost our money and they wouldn’t swap the date.. Very poor customer relations 🤬

Very nice, some extra tour guide info on the bus around Valencia and showing us the traditional farm houses as well as some nearby cities as we drove to the caves. Guide was friendly and helpful and the cave tour was very unique!

The overall experience...

Karl_J, Jul 2026
The overall experience was fine, nothing amazing but overall enjoyable. It is not really a guided tour, it is a charter bus that you meet and it takes you to the caves, which you have a timed ticket to wait for and then you enter the cave boats without your "guide" on your own (which is completely fine as the guide is just there to coordinate logistics). Bus ride was decently comfortable, not great AC but ok for the hour each way. The caves were cool, but IMO underwhelming given the overall time and cost of the excursion.

Something different

Sarah_B, Jul 2026
Travelled to the caves by air conditioned coach and the caves themselves are a really nice excursion away from the heat. Travelling through them by boat was memorable and something a bit different.

Buses were comfortable...

Suman_M, Jul 2026
Buses were comfortable with AC. Tour guide on bus spoke fluent english and did a great job explaining all the sights on the way. Caves were amazing and the river guide was friendly and polite.

Great guide who stay...

Sarah_P, Jul 2026
Great guide who stay connected and friendly. Bus AC did not work but took care of it by having another bus ready for us.

It was fine?

Luke_P, Jul 2026
It was less a guided tour and more just a means for transport to and from the caves from Valencia. Our “guide” was just someone coordinating the bus, as the actual caves have guides for each boat. The bus was not well air conditioned which was a little miserable (but not unbearable), but we were there during the height of a heat wave. The bus seemed older and it sounded like it was working in overdrive to help cool us off. Unfortunately, our cave guide did not speak much English, so we didn’t learn much about the caves with the exception of how old they are and how deep and long areas were. You are not allowed to take photos throughout the cave tour except at the very end on the last part on the way back. There’s a part where you get off the boat and walk through the cave passageways before circling back to the boat before you head back. It was a very fast tour…we spent more time on transportation than in the caves. It was still a neat experience and something to do outside the city, but I’d temper expectations a bit.

Very interesting caves...

Robert_G, Jul 2026
Very interesting caves and nice tour guide, but the pick up location needs to be better defined and the pickup more visible! We almost missed the bus because we didn't know where exactly it would stop it was badly marked. Also, the speakers on the bus were bad and we couldn't understand most of what the tour guide said on it.

nyaalexander0709, Jul 2026
Buses utilized were comfortable. Our tour guide Manual was amazing explaining the history and suggestions must to go places was amazing. Professional and courteous. Caves were mesmerizing and our tour guide inside the cave was impressive

Great half day out

Jaci_B, Jul 2026
Quite a long journey out to the location but the Caves were beautiful. Our tour guide was very welcoming and knowledgeable. I enjoyed the half day tour and would recommend it to others.

Cool cave but terrible transit

Jacky_L, Jul 2026
The cave was cool, but the bus ride there was absolutely not. It was a ride to hell almost. The so called "ACed bus" barely had any AC, and you just sit there in your own pool of sweat for 45mins - 1 hour each way. Would absolutely not recommend doing this in the hot summer days, unless they can guarantee you a functional AC bus.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, Jacky. We're pleased you enjoyed the San José Caves, but we're sorry the journey affected your overall experience. We completely understand that, during the exceptional heatwave, the temperature inside the vehicle may not have felt as comfortable as you expected. After your comments, we spoke with both the guide and the driver, who confirmed that the air conditioning was functioning throughout the trip. We appreciate your feedback and are always looking for ways to improve our guests' experience.

Hell Bus

Catherine_L, Jul 2026
The caves are really neat, and are a great escape from the heat and the city. However the bus ride there and back completely ruined the experience for us. The bus was advertised as having AC, but it was either broken or not turned on at all. We were sweltering. Sweating buckets in the leather seats for the hour long bus ride with no airflow. The caves tour was too short to justify the ride on the bus from hell. Had it been properly air-conditioned, we might have been able to nap and enjoy our time in the caves more, but instead we all suffered and simply tried to make it through the grueling ride.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Thank you for your feedback, Catherine. We're glad you enjoyed the San José Caves, though we're sorry the journey felt uncomfortable. After receiving your comments, we checked with both the guide and the driver, who confirmed that the air conditioning was operating throughout the tour. We understand that during the exceptional heatwave, the temperature inside the vehicle may not have felt as cool as expected. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and your perspective.

Beautiful views in the caves

Kindra_H, Jul 2026
The tour itself was wonderful seeing the caves, our guide Jorge was awesome, I didnt give 5 stars because the day was very hot and the ac on the bus seemed to not fully work it was an extremely uncomfortable ride to and from the caves. I would most definitely do the tour again as long as we are given a different bus for transport.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Thank you very much for your feedback! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the visit to the Cuevas de San José and that Jorge made the experience so positive for you. We’ll be sure to pass your kind words on to him. We’re very sorry to hear about the discomfort during the transfer. On especially hot days, the air conditioning on some vehicles can be more challenging to maintain at full performance, but we understand how important a comfortable journey is. Your comment has been noted so we can review and improve the transport experience. We truly appreciate your honesty, and we’re glad to know you would still consider doing the tour again. We hope to welcome you back soon under even better conditions!

Wonderful way to beat the...

wz9x9xpbt7, Jul 2026
Wonderful way to beat the intense heat! A little under an hour drive north of Valencia. Very well organized. The boat guide did not speak English but was not a big deal. Great for kids and adults alike.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Thank you very much for your review! We’re glad to hear you enjoyed your visit to the Cuevas de San José and that it was a refreshing way to escape the summer heat. We hope to welcome you again on another excursion soon!

Beautiful blues

Patricia_P, Jun 2026
Really beautiful, recommended! The blues of the water are gorgeous and the stalagtites are impressive. A tip, sturdy sandals are fine (no sneakers needed).

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Thank you for your lovely review, Patricia! We hope to welcome you on another adventure from Valencia soon!

Great option if you’re looking for something outside of the city

kelly_m, Jun 2026

Quick and Fun Cave Experience!

Annelis_M, Jun 2026
The tour starts with a bus ride to the caves and our tour guide, Uriel, explained things as we passed by Valencia and into the outskirts. Once we got to the caves, we had about 25 minutes to take pictures, grab a water or visit the restrooms. Then, we were allowed to go into the caves. It is a boat ride inside the caves and you are not allowed to take pictures until directed to do so. It feels a little chilly in the cave and that was quite nice considering the summer heat outside. Our bus/tour guide was very knowledgeable and was able to be on my boat, but be advised that usually, the cave boat guides only speak Spanish and the bus guide does not usually go on the boats. The caves portion was about 40 minutes long and very interesting. The ride was smooth back to Valencia and it was overall a great trip! It was a great way to start our day.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! 😊 We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the entire experience, from the journey to the caves themselves. It's wonderful to know that Uriel's knowledge and enthusiasm made the trip even more enjoyable. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back for another adventure in Valencia soon! 🌿✨

The tour operators were...

Gizelle_W, Jun 2026
The tour operators were great. We had a good time in the bus; Ferran was very informative and fun. The cave tour is run by a separate company which was very organized. Time in the cave was short but very calming….

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Hi Gizelle, Thank you so much for your kind review! We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the experience and that Ferran helped make the journey both informative and fun. We will be sure to pass your lovely comments on to him. We are also pleased that everything ran smoothly from the logistical side. One thing that makes Valencia & Go unique is that we operate our own fleet of vehicles, which allows us to maintain a high level of organization, punctuality and service quality throughout the experience. Thank you again for choosing us and for taking the time to share your feedback. We hope to welcome you back to Valencia in the future! Kind regards, Carolina

The caves are really cool! The experience is good for all ages with little walking! It is not too long!

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thank you for your lovely review! 😊 We’re so happy to hear that you enjoyed this unique experience. We hope to welcome you back on another adventure soon! Best regards, The Valencia & Go Team

The tour guide on the bus...

Jennifer_B, Jun 2026
The tour guide on the bus spoke English. Our guide on the boat did not so during the tour we had no idea what he was saying.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thank you for your feedback, Jennifer. As mentioned in the tour description, the boatmen inside the caves may only speak Spanish, which is why our guide explains the history and what to expect in English before entering. They also make themselves available during the ride back to Valencia to answer questions or clarify anything that wasn’t understood during the boat tour. We appreciate your comments.

Caves

Marian_M, Jun 2026
The caves are worth the trip but be aware they are around an hour from Valencia and the boat and walk through the caves is approximately 50 mins. The company is well organised and text to inform you of changes etc.We enjoyed the journey to and from the caves because it allowed us to see the rural areas.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thank you so much for your kind words! 😊 We love hearing that the experience left you with great memories beyond the destination itself. Creating smooth and enjoyable days for our guests is exactly what we strive for. We hope to welcome you on another adventure soon! Best regards, The Valencia & Go Team

Great, would highly recommend!

Karel_P, Jun 2026
Great tour and great tour guide Jorge. Tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable about the city and its history.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thank you very much for your feedback! We are truly very happy that you enjoyed the tour with Jorge. He will be delighted to receive this message! We hope to see you again very soon in Valencia!

Long Ride to Caves

Kevin_M, Jun 2026
Cave boat ride was enjoyable but all the artificial lighting made it look fake. Also not allowed to take photos throughout most of the cave. Our boat guide did speak English but we were advised by our tour guide on the way to the caves that some of the boat guides only speak Spanish. Would not have booked tour if we knew that. Worked out ok for us but be advised. 45-50 minute boat ride through cave. Most of the tour is the hour ride each way from Valencia. Van was comfortable and guide did point out some points of interest along the way. Ok tour but expensive and time consuming for a short boat ride that you can’t even take pictures in

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the overall excursion did not fully meet your expectations, although we are pleased to know that you enjoyed the boat ride through the caves and found our transportation comfortable. Regarding the boat guides, we would like to mention that the activity description indicates that some boat operators may only speak Spanish. We are sorry if this information was missed before booking, although we are glad everything worked out well on the day and that you were able to enjoy the experience. As for photography, the caves have strict safety regulations, including restrictions on taking pictures in certain areas, helping to protect visitors and preserve the site. These rules are established by the cave management and apply to all visitors. Finally, the distance between Valencia and the caves, as well as the duration of the excursion, are also detailed in the activity description. Since the caves are located approximately 50 km from Valencia, the transfer time is an important part of the experience and allows visitors to discover one of the most unique natural attractions in the region. Thank you again for joining us. We appreciate your comments and hope you enjoyed discovering this special place despite the aspects that were not entirely to your liking. Kind regards, Carolina Valencia & Go

Visit the San Jose Caves while in Valencia, Spain

Carole_T, May 2026
This was a nice way to see Valencia outside of the city and experience the magical feeling inside the San Jose Caves. Ferran was our English guide and he did a great job explaining things during the journey to the Caves. Our driver also did a good job and we felt safe and comfortable. Devices were provided so you only heard the information in your chosen language. Everything was well timed and organized. Ferran and his colleague clearly explained the when and where for everything which kept the group moving along nicely. The Caves and boat ride are truly an experience worth making time for. First time ever for us in any caves and this was the perfect choice.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thank you so much for this wonderful review! We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed the cave tour and that Ferran was able to turn it into a memorable experience. We will be delighted to pass your message on to him as well as to our driver — they will be very pleased to read your kind words. Thank you again for choosing us, and we hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back to Valencia very soon for another adventure!

Great caves but a lot of time in a bus

Stephen_C, May 2026
The caves are well worth a visit, but in my view too far from Valencia to make a sensible trip. 3/4 of the allocated trip time is spent getting to and back from the caves. Maybe extend the trip to a day and do a second activity?

A unique experience away from the city.

Kate_C, May 2026
Absolutely incredible experience, the cave was stunning. Jorge was an amazing tour guide and very knowledgeable about Valencia history and important sites.

Response from Host, May 2026

Thank you so much for your wonderful review, Kate! We’re happy to hear you enjoyed the tour. Jorge will be delighted to know he helped make the tour even more memorable. We’d love to welcome you again on another adventure soon!

Must see

Terah_B, May 2026
Easy drive there, both guides were awesome for the drive and through the caves! Only photos on the second half of the cave journey but it was great overall.

Response from Host, May 2026

Thank you so much for your review 😊 We’re really happy to hear that you enjoyed the trip and that both guides made the experience great from the drive all the way through the caves. It’s also good to know you appreciated the visit and the photo opportunity during the second part of the cave journey. We hope to see you again on another tour soon!
