Better go on your own

Melanie_B, Feb 2025
The island of La Gomera is beautiful. The ferry ride was nice. The driver on the island was fabulous. Everything else was subpar or worse. The guide was unintelligible, even in her native language. She droned on and on at a speed that was too fast and with intonation that was like she thought she was performing for an opera. We wanted to cover our ears because her voice was so grating. Despite everything, we were going to tip her, but she jumped off the bus at the first stop on the return, and left everybody else on the bus with a bus driver who kept crossing the midline and driving erratically. We felt a bit abandoned. We were supposed to arrive at the hotel at 6:30p but ended up getting dropped off in the dark at 7:45pm under an overpass because the driver said he couldn’t get closer. We had been picked up by the same bus earlier in the day, just outside the hotel gate. Strange. My husband and I certainly hope this was a one-off “oops” by Viator.

Amazing

Linda_N, Dec 2024
Teresa is a great tour guide!! She was giving us information in three languages and we saw so much. The lunch was amazing. The bus driver was very skilled in driving on the narrow, winding roads. I highly recommend this tour!

Great day trip from Tenerife

Melinda_S, Jun 2024
The ferry ride to/from La Gomera was nice. There was an auto race on the island so we had to get to the national park before noon before the road closed, so we didn't make stops on the way there, but did on the way back. There was plenty of time to see things on our own in the places we stopped. Beautiful views of El Tiede!

La Gomera day ferry/coach tour

Marco_D, Apr 2024
A long day. Pick up and drop-off. Predominantly scenic tour with a short demonstration of communicative whistling. The lunch offered was fair and is wholly reflected in the price. A comfortable trip on the ferry. The commentary was delivered in several languages, which I found interrupted the flow of the narration. Worth doing the tour just to experience La Gomera.

Nice day out

pdt2323, Mar 2024
Variability of visuals. Excellent tour guide and driver. Bus was very comfortable. Significant walking through the forrest… not for beginners or those with limited mobility. Would recommend this after tour to Mt. Tiede

Breathtaking views!

Thereza_H, Dec 2023
Gorgeous views. However, boarding the ferry was chaotic and frustrating because the tour guide wasn't easily spotted and I almost missed her. She also spoke English with an unusual cadence and emphasis on words, making her difficult to understand and sometimes making the English unrecognizable.

An easy & practical way to visit La Gomera

Momtaz_B, Jun 2023
I booked this trip as I realised last minute that I had a spare day and I'd always wanted to see what La Gomera was like and I appreciated that they had last minute availability. It's a great way to get a taste of the island, you travel a fair distance and it's well-paced. I enjoyed the free time to stroll in the national park and used the time at the end to go for a swim as the beach next to the ferry port is really nice, soft black sands and safe for swimming. The meal we had at lunch was good, it was 3 courses which was appreciated. However I would say that though the practicalities are there and it's easy it do, it's actually a bit bland. All the facts that are red out are clearly just from Wikipedia, there's no personality or personal touches and the tour guide wasn't very engaging. It was a struggle to have everything translated into 4 languages as she was clearly proficient in Spanish but the other 3 languages were read badly, very slow, it sounded like a slowed down cassette player. I don't think you should promise a multi-lingual tour if in fact it's one main language and the others are just basic and not delivered well. We had one commercial stop off where we were encouraged to buy biscuits however there were no samples to try which didn't make any sense. If you want to sell a food product no one has tried before you should allow them to try before buying and breaking up a few biscuits wouldn't be hard. When I asked the guide she said we tried the biscuits at lunch. At lunch there was a bowl of finely ground powder that looked like salt and it was served with the mojo sauce, no one knew what it was - there's no way you would know that was a biscuit. These may sound like small details but its the difference between what makes an average tour (like this) and what makes a really memorable one you want to shout about. I hope the company takes on this feedback as if they put more attention into the guides training, and making the tours more personal with thought given to the experiences it could be really good.

Amazing way to see La Gomera

Zelma_G, Feb 2023
Antonio was an amazing guide! We got to see everything without feeling rushed. The pick up was a bit late but the tour was well organized so there was enough time for us to catch the ferry even will the delay. I was wary when I realized that the tour would be done in 3 languages. But it was never an issue. Antonio shared his love for La Gomera through stories that made the history come alive. This is such a good deal considering that it includes, pick up, the ferry, a tour, and lunch.

Beautiful island and a memorable tour!

Bardia_H, Jan 2023
The beautiful sites we visited and the ferry ride were absolutely memorable. We won't forget the experience. The only areas that can be improved are the duration of stay at each site and the number of languages used during the tour. Translation in four languages, although understandable, became exhausting after a while.

Terrible Customer Service

Harvey_F, Jul 2022
We was booked to go on this trip on 12/07. I unfortunately could not go due to getting a chest infection and going into hospital the night before, which of course meant I was unable to let them know. I would have expected them to show some compassion and offer a refund for this as this was absolutely not our fault we could not attend. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.

Response from Host, Jul 2022

Dear Harvey, First of all,we hope that you are feeling better. As you can check in Viator app, we called and we messaged at 07:20, because the guide was waiting for you at the meeting point. We can understand that you were in the hospital, but you need to Know that Viator policy is more than 24 hours to be able to cancel it. We have made a exception and we have done the 50% the refund, even though we had fees like the boat, the guide, the bus and restaurant which we are assuming the cost. We did offer you to change the date, and you have also written that you if we don’t do a full refund you will leave a bad review. So we considere that this comment it´s very unfair when we have made an exception given you 50% refund. Regards Noemí

The change in landscape...

Mike_S, Jun 2022
The change in landscape when we travelled over highest point from one side of island to the other. I did not care for the stopping point at village of Masca. We stopped outside restaurant and I thought the owner/staff on duty were very unfriendly. They made it very clear, by having toilet locked, that you could not use their toilet unless you purchased something! I think this was very unwelcoming or rather unnecessary as most tourists who take tour of island are generous when it comes to supporting their economy.

A good day trip

Adam_P, Jun 2022
Get picked up from bus stop close to my hotel, had to walk about 600m which is not a problem at all. Picked at 8.35 in the morning and get back to the hotel at 19:20. Tour guide was very nice, she said everything in 4 different languages at the begining it was confusing when she is speaking in English but after a while we get used to. W had stop many times on the road for nice sight views to take a picture. I think there was about 8 stops. When we get to the top we had a nice but not long walk in the forest. We get to restaurant where I get disappointed. 4 course meal and best part of it was bread and water. We did not expect an Michelin star food but a decent one as many people mentioned it was good in comment section. Starter was a nice bread whit some local cheese and sauces that was very nice. First plate was a soup which was OK Second plate, main dish was grilled meat - you can ask for vegetarian meal (women next to us complained that was very salty and she get her dish about 20minutes earlier than meat lovers). There was few types of meat on the sharing plate such us pork, chicken, sausage. All meat was dry, hard, overcooked without any flavour. Potetoes were underneath of meat and get very soggy. Last dish was desert and I can't believe how sweet it was. The worst desert in my live as almost get sick that's how sweet it was. I have to say there was quite few people enjoying their meal but... They had a pint or two on Ferry and few glasses of wine just before their meal. Probably they just get drunk and couldn't taste how bad it is. One more thing about food that if you go as a group you have to seat together so no individual tables and you will seat with random people. I did not have problem with that but some other guys had a problem and didn't like it. Bus driver was ok. I do recommend to take some jumpers, coats as in some part of la GOMERA I very windy and cold.

Great Trip, but Too Short

Julian_B, May 2022
We had a great time on this trip. The scenery was beautiful and the food was marvelous. I especially enjoyed getting to chat with our fellow travelers at lunch. The only reason I didn't give five stars is that we happened to book on a local holiday, so the trip was cut short by the lack of a late ferry. Had I known this would happen, I would have booked it for a different day of our trip. I definitely wish we had gotten another hour or so in La Gomera. The tour company should make this clear if not in their description, then when they reach out to arrange for the pickup.

Too many languages

lorraine_N, May 2022
We thought the tour was only in English however turned out to be in 4 languages. The guide was good but the sound system was very poor and was unable to hear commentary. The lunch was good

La Gomera in a day!

Andrew_W, May 2022
Spectacular views and a very nice lunch all in all a very good experience! If I had to make any comments, the descriptions in 3 languages began to grate a bit but Marcel obviously knew his subject and explained it all fully! From my personal point of view the pick up bus could have had better leg room but I am over 6feet tall! The bus driver (jose) on the island negotiated the winding roads brilliantly, thank you!

La Gomera is a don’t miss trip

Charles_R, Apr 2022
Scenery was spectacular! Very good careful driver. Restaurant food was better than expected and wine was pretty good too

The wievs, nature was...

Pertti_K, Apr 2022
The wievs, nature was fine. It was quite hard to understand, what the guide was talking. The accent was so strange, and he have found very strange, own words

Good way to see the island of La Gomera

Anna_O, Mar 2022
The only downside of the excursion was an hour long stop on a "ecological aloe farm". It wasn't mentioned in the program and would've preferred more time in the national park. The excursion was well organised. The guide spoke 4 languages. The bus drove us through some picturesque places on La Gomera. We had stops in a few places in the national park and a couple of viewpoints, but there wasn't much time to explore. Lunch was good, three courses of local food and some house wine.

Great trip only the agent...

Edwin_T, Mar 2022
Great trip only the agent talked the whole trip in 4 different languages. That too much.Furthermore great

Nice day trip

Tatjana_J, Feb 2022
I would recommended for everyone, very interesting day trip. Good organised, giud and drivers are very professional

La Gomera amazing trip with boat! ❤️

ivil_K, Jan 2022
Great experience traveling with the boat, wonderful views of Tenerife and La Gomera. Great experience driver in La Gomera in such a difficult to drive roads! Views were incredibly amazing..Made couple of stops for the pictures. Stopped for the lunch where to my surprise received soup, main course and a dessert with a glass of water and red wine. At the end of a trip got 45 min in the capital of La Gomera where could walk freely and see what we wanted. I visited the tower, harbour and beach just behind the harbour. Amazing unforgettable trip! With a great wievs! ❤️👍

Fantastic tour.

Luana_J, Jan 2022
Amazing landscapes and a beautiful view of The island from the seaside. Also, a good driver that brought us safe home. The guide seemed very engaged. However, the large amount of information delivered all day long in 4 languages was exhausting. The guide could ask the tourists and then choose only two languages, it would have been enough.

Worth every penny and then some!

Andrzej_C, Oct 2021
We loved the landscape of La Gomera. The whole tour was very well organized, and the guide gave us a great deal of information, in 4 languages!

Enjoyable day

Mrspebeaney_B, Oct 2021
Well organised & good value. I do agree with others that the guide, although helpful & pleasant could not be understood on the bus He did have to do the commentary in 4 languages so had to speak practically the whole time.but the background buzz on the bus a dodgy microphone &astrong accent meant it was difficult to follow. When we were in the national park & he was speaking face to face I could understand his commentary well Lunch was typical tourist menu but OK. Whistling was fun. Enjoyed the day but needed to google info on La Gomera

Green Island

MICHAELA_H, Sep 2021
Very green Island comparable to Tenerife or the other main islands 😊 food was lovely and some pretty awesome views on the bus tour 🤩

La gomera day trip

Jonathan_A, Sep 2020

Lost day

Elena_T, Dec 2019
English language of the guide was terrible. We could not understand much of what he was saying. Thus, The excursion was basically riding on the bus at La Gomera island.

Response from Host, Dec 2019

Dear alena497, thanks a lot for sharing your opinion here. We are sorry to know that the excursion was below your expectations. Our guide has been with us for many years, and English is not the only language he speaks, he is a very cultured and professional person, but we do understand that every one of us can have a personal opinion. We hope you will book your next excursion with us, we’ve got plenty of interesting activities to discover the island. Regards, Elisabetta

Cultural experience

Michael_W, Sep 2019
Booked the trip within one month of travelling to Tenerife. Arranged and confirmed convenient pickup location by speaking with customer service. On the day everything went smoothly according to itinerary. Tour guide was efficient and friendly informing travellers in several different languages as necessary. Locations visited were spectacular and interesting. Lunch was provided at a Gomerian restaurant located at the edge of a steep cliff that could be viewed from a glass structure reaching out over the cliff edge! Time was allowed at the end of the island tour to explore San Sebastian prior to boarding the hydrofoil for a quick return trip to a return coach journey to our pickup point. A wonderfully interesting and memorable trip!

Response from Host, Sep 2019

Dear customer, Thanks a lot for sharing your experience with the other users. We are happy to know that you enjoyed the excursion a lot, Gomera is a little spectacular island and our guides know exactly what to show and say about what people are seeing along the road. Also, the restaurant is quite amazing as it offers beautiful views over Tenerife and Teide. Pease, do not hesitate to contact us again if you come back to Tenerife, we’ve got plenty of interesting excursions around the island to offer. Regards, Elisabetta

Good day out

Philip_R, Aug 2019
Very enjoyable day out. Lots of interesting information given. Fascinating place. Knowing the cost of a ferry crossing we weren't expecting much for the lunch but it was very good and filling, wine and water included. Restaurant was rather hot. Added attraction of the.glass floor view point - too scarry for me! The guide is a.little tricky to understand at times and has his own interesting version of English words. I could always tell when he was speaking English. But understood enough to follow instructions and learn a bit about what we were seeing. Very pleasant and helpful man too.

Response from Host, Aug 2019

Dear GypsyChesham, thanks a lot for sharing your opinion here. La Gomera is a wonderful little island next to Tenerife and we like to show those things that make it so different from all other places in the world. Our guide, Marcel, has been with us for many years and has a true passion for this little island, is very knowledgeable and loves his job. Our offer includes excursions to all parts of the island, so don't hesitate to contact us again during your next visit to Tenerife. Regards, Elisabetta

Nice trip but rambling guide

Jehuda_S, Jul 2019
The trip is very nice. The guide is very knowledgeable but keeps a constant stream of lecturing in four languages which is both overwhelming and difficult to follow at times. Sights are beautiful and interesting. We had a car race that blocked the road and delayed us for an an hour you would expect that the your would know these kinds of things.
