Viator pick up time said...

Shereen_H, Apr 2026
Viator pick up time said 3:30pm actual pick up was at 5:30pm. Reached an area to watch the sunset minutes before sunset, not much time to get a lot of pictures. Needed to walk up a small rocky hill which you could easily slide down due to the small rocks, to get to the telescopes. Not much time with each telescope. 1 guide setting up for a full bus of people, some of which went back on the bus to stay warm during set up and missed some of the constellations explanations because they were not informed it was starting. Crowd was not well organized, unable to take your own astrophoto pictures due to people using lights to safely navigate going up and down the slippery hill. Over all i would not recommend for older adults or very young kids.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thank you for your feedback. When booking an excursion for a different time of the year, it is important to understand that the schedule may vary depending on sunset times. For this reason, we always clearly communicate the exact pickup time to our guests in advance. This information is also stated on the Viator platform. Regarding safety, no guest is ever required to walk through rocky or risky areas. Some visitors may choose to explore higher viewpoints on their own, but this is entirely optional. Our guides always recommend that guests remain within the designated area where the group gathers safely to enjoy the sunset together. The bus was not full during this excursion. Although it has a capacity of up to 55 passengers, there were approximately 25 guests on board, ensuring a comfortable experience for everyone. We also ensure that all guests have sufficient time to enjoy the telescopes, with the opportunity to observe multiple times if they wish. Once conditions are suitable and the telescopes are ready, our team makes clear announcements and checks the bus to ensure everyone is informed that the stargazing session is beginning. Guests who remain on the bus do so by their own choice. The stargazing location is carefully selected based on weather conditions such as wind, cloud coverage, and atmospheric stability, to provide the best possible experience. Additionally, the site is officially registered and licensed by the government. Our excursion is designed to be accessible and enjoyable for a wide range of guests, from children to seniors. We take pride in being well-organized and committed to providing a safe and memorable experience for all our guests.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled you had such a magical experience and that Ozzi’s passion made it even more special. Your tip about dressing warmly is very helpful for future guests. We’d love to welcome you again for another unforgettable night under the stars!

Not what we expected

Helena_U, Feb 2026
The group was super big a literal large bus of people so if you’re looking for a sense of privacy take a car and go up the mountain by yourself you can find lots of spots much higher (tour stops like 30 km from Teide). Food was okay but travelling around the island you can eat much better. So overall - a bit pricey lots of people mid food and a very cool guide. Not for us.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Thank you for sharing your opinion. Our group format is clearly described in advance — we operate with a full-sized bus, as this allows us to organise transport safely at altitude and reduce the number of private vehicles inside Teide National Park. For guests seeking a more private experience, we always recommend self-drive options, as you mentioned. Regarding location, we operate in authorised areas permitted for organised excursions. Higher or more remote stops are restricted within the protected park. We’re glad you enjoyed the guide — we’ll pass that on. As for the meal, we offer it as a convenient option, but guests are always free to explore other dining choices on the island. We understand our group experience may not suit everyone, but many guests appreciate the convenience, structure and educational aspect of the evening.

Tourist TRAP

Mac_M, Feb 2026
All the bad reviews are true. 1. There are so many people in the bus it loses the "special experience" vibe they're going for 2. We never made it past 1400m high, there was no "Sea of clouds". Just a sea of tourists. 3. They take you to a viewpoint that's easily accessible to everyone. The whole experience is right next to a road with frequent vehicles passing 4. If I didn't book the meal, why did I have to wait for an hour for everyone else to eat? 5. The moon was so bright we could barely see any stars with the naked eye. What you see through the telescope are white dots against a black background. 6. The guide was good and seemed knowledgeable. He could also have studied the whole speech and know it by heart if he repeats it several times a week. In summary, there was no soul, no "breathtaking experience", and paid way too much money to go to a viewpoint I could've easily accessed by myself.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

We respectfully disagree with the description “tourist trap.” A tourist trap implies hidden costs, misleading information or false promises. Our descriptions clearly state group size, meeting logistics, altitude limitations, and that natural phenomena such as the “sea of clouds” and lunar brightness cannot be guaranteed. We respect your opinion, but several points in your review require clarification. The experience takes place within Teide National Park, a protected natural area. All authorised operators must use public viewpoints along the road. There are no “exclusive” hidden locations — this is a national park, not private land. Group size and programme flow are transparently described before booking. The restaurant stop is part of the coordinated schedule, even for guests who choose the no-meal option. This ensures proper timing and safety at altitude. The “sea of clouds” depends entirely on weather conditions and cannot be guaranteed. Likewise, the Moon’s brightness follows its natural lunar phase. On bright nights, deep-sky visibility is reduced — this is basic astronomy, not a tour limitation. We appreciate your acknowledgement of the guide’s knowledge. Our presentations are structured to ensure accuracy and clarity, not improvisation. Many guests leave inspired by the experience. We are proud of the professionalism and transparency with which we operate.

Great guide, but trip is too long with children.

Scott_W, Feb 2026
Good: Very easy to book with Viator and communications with tenerife stars also very good via whatsapp. Ozzi the tour guide was very entertaining and knowledgeable. Not so good: total trip time was nearly 8 hours pickup to drop off. We were one of the 1st pickups and one of the last to be dropped off. The description states that those who were picked up 1st are the 1st to be dropped off. When u have children its a very long day , with lots of standing around waiting for it to get dark and take turns on telescope. Children got very bored. At the viewing site there are NO toilets , be prepared to go in a bush or behind a rock, unfortunately so has everyone else, so watch where u stand !!

Star gazing in Tenerife

Stephen_K, Jan 2026
Enjoyable visit to Teide, including basic meal on the way. Great views. Need to wrap up warm when star gazing as it's cold up there in the dark. Unfortunately the moon was making the star less viewable.

Magical night

Maria_C, Jan 2026
It was a magical trip seeing the sun set above the clouds followed by a very knowledgeable guide Ozzy telling us about the planets and stars and looking at the sky through telescopes. Would highly recommend this trip. Very well organised. One word of advice bring warm clothes for the stargazing in January 😊

We were very disappointed...

Gertrud_F, Jan 2026
We were very disappointed with our experience with Tenerife Stars. Due to contradictory meeting point information and poor customer support, we were unable to join the tour, despite following their instructions and staying in constant contact. When we requested a refund, we were treated like “just tourists” rather than valued customers. Their response email was rude, showed a complete lack of compassion, and we did not receive our money back. A simple issue could have been resolved with proper communication and compassion. Unfortunately, neither was present.

Response from Host, Jan 2026

Sometimes people like yourself don't follow instructions. This could be a challenge and it doesn't workout very well. It's obvious you're trying to blame the organisation, but you should just be an adult and blame yourself. No bad feelings here because you're just a human been and things may happen. Just be fare though to say you just did not follow our instructions like other people did.

Really disappointing

Sarah_T, Jan 2026
We spent an hour picking up from the Adeje hotels, then drove to a restaurant. The meal was basic, but fine - well done to the restaurant staff for feeding two coachloads of tourists so quickly. The sunset view was lovely but crowded. We then progressed up to Teide for the star gazing which consisted of a whole coachload of people getting a quick look through three telescopes that had been set up in a car park. We then queued and endured the danger of reversing coaches and continuous blinding by car headlights. The worst part was that the commentary from the stargazing expert was possibly brilliant but was also in French - so we couldn't understand it and the translation provided by the tour guide was literally 'look at the moon'. I paid 395 euros for the five of us and have regretted it every day since. Please don't waste your money.

Response from Host, Jan 2026

Sorry about your experience. This happend because you did not join the correct group. There are different groups and organisations, and you just need to follow instructions. There are different groups at didn't pars at the national park. It's a shame you did not join our group which you have booked in the first place. Next time better and you're welcome to join us again. Thank you

A fascinating drawn out affair!

Chris_R, Dec 2025
A six hour trip but only a couple of hours actually in the park looking up, was still fascinating and a great escape and Yossi was great. Be better if everyone attending a tour was told to be at a certain pick up point at a certain time rather than the hour long tour of the hotels of Southern Tenerife, that being said if your first pickup on departure then your first to be dropped off on arrival back. The location in the park is by the side of the road so passing car lights do spoil the darkness occasionally. Wrap up very warm, we had five layers on and it wasnt enough, also when the temperature dropped below zero the condensation on the telescopes started to freeze which effectively ended the tour. The tour stops at Casa Siro restaurant near Chio, we chose the non eating tour so had to sit outside having a drink, which was fine, but I'm unsure why we couldn't sit inside in the warm, we may have bought more if we had. We did take great pleasure in watching just how rude the older lady was when taking people's orders!! Anyway its a great experience albeit a little drawn out.

Karen_P, Oct 2025
We enjoyed the dinner and the sunset, the bus was comfortable and the driver was good. We felt that the star gazing was too long.

Great experience but be mindful

Daniera_R, Oct 2025
Very cool excursion! Saw stars and constellations. We also learned a lot about constellations, planets etc. Ozzie was very knowledgeable. The option for hotel pickup was so convenient. We were picked up at 4:50p. About a little over 1hour spent picking everyone up. We arrived to the restaurant for dinner around 6:15p. We opted out of the dinner option but I did not like that we had to stand outside in the parking lot of the restaurant until the dinner concluded. The people who did not select the dinner option (8 ppl) could not sit on the bus or inside of the restaurant. And since we were already in the mountains the temperature began dropping. The first stop was the sunset over the clouds. It was beautiful. Absolutely breathtaking. Then we drove to the spot for the stargazing. There were 6 telescopes set up and each telescope would show the same object. So there were 6 lines to be able see the objects Ozzie had calibrated the telescopes to show (the moon, Saturn and M13 galaxy) for it to be such a large group everyone was able to see everything. Ozzie even captured a photo of the object through the telescope lens (with 2 passengers cellphones; apple & android) so they could be sent via airdrop and quickshare. The images were beautiful. At the end there was an option to have a professional photo taken for purchase. There were great views. We were dropped off at our hotel around 11:30pm. I would omit the dinner for this excursion and just have a later start time. And also, I don’t think this is good for children. It runs late, and it is cold out there. I wore jeans a long sleeve shirt, a windproof jacket and a blanket and was still cold. Not to mention the bus had the air on full blast the entire time.

Waste of Money.

Shantanese_H, Sep 2025
If I could give this no stars I would, I was contacted through WhatsApp and my number that I left was my UK # but my US # was connected to WhatsApp so I never got any verification on my pickup time/ location. I waited at the stop and a fellow was looking to pickup someone going to the same place but said that our names weren’t on the list so we couldn’t get on. We had no connection to call, once they did they said they’d call us back to confirm if someone would pick us up. After 30min of waiting we went to a restaurant and sat down. The tour was for a sunset viewing and we received a message once the sun was down saying they had arrived at the stop we explained it had been over a hour and that we’d like a refund and they said they weren’t going to because it was too late. However, we never received the services we payed for. So absolute waste of money & time. Don’t book this excursion unless you want to waste your time on holiday.

Response from Host, Dec 2025

Don't mix things up. You have not booked the excursion with us. Read what you have been saying as you are confused and mentioning things that never happend. This is because you have booked a different organisation. Also you are confusing the organisation by giving 2 distract phone numbers. Why not just provide a phone number you'll be able to get contacted on. It's a shame you did not join us as you would've loved the experience. Next time just book with us please.

Disappointment in Three Courses – Poor Food, False Advertising & 6 Wasted Hours

Gavrilo_V, Sep 2025
This tour was one of the biggest travel disappointments I’ve ever experienced. What was supposed to be a scenic evening with a stunning sunset and stargazing turned into a long, frustrating bus ride with almost an hour wasted just picking up other guests from various hotels. The poor organization was obvious from the start. The so-called “three-course dinner” was a joke: a bland bowl of soup, one chicken drumstick, a few potatoes, and a bit of salad. For dessert, we got a bite-sized piece of dry cake. Drinks were low quality, and the location was right by the roadside, completely lacking atmosphere or charm. It felt like they just wanted to rush us through it. We arrived too late to see the sunset – one of the tour's advertised highlights – due to delays. Stargazing was equally disappointing: a quick roadside stop where a guide showed us the moon through a telescope and something that was supposedly Jupiter. Hardly the “unforgettable celestial experience” they promised. The group was too large, the timing was off, and the entire experience felt rushed and unprofessional. The photos used in the tour description are clearly edited and don’t represent the reality at all. In total, we spent 6 hours on a poorly planned excursion that didn’t deliver on a single promise. A complete waste of time and money. I do not recommend this tour.

Response from Host, Dec 2025

Disappointment is that you are writing false statements. It's a shame TripAdvisor allowed people to write whatever they like. Even if they leave false statements, joined a different excursion, or even don't show up. This is the difficult and worst part of TripAdvisor. This should be prohibited as it does not reflect our excursion. It would be fare though to review people like yourself and effect your work in a negative way. Let's see if you would appreciate that.

Waay to expensive for what it is.

Dmitry_Z, Jul 2025
To start on a positive note - the guide did seem very knowledgeable on the stars and the layout of the skies. Otherwise this was the most touristy experience we’ve had in over 2 weeks on the island and we’ve done most things available. We chose the option with pick up, but we didn’t want the food, so we chose a corresponding option - The pick up moved one hour, which is no problem, the issue was that the pick up took us and another two girls to the restaurant and we had to wait for a big bus to arrive and everyone to eat the advertised 3 course meal. The girls that were with us had the same ‘no food option’ as us so why the hell did we have to wait for over an hour is beyond me and felt quite frustrating. - We also understood that the viewing would be from either the top or at least close to it, this was not the case (nor do i think it is possible in general). The final stop was at 2k, and to be fair the view was great, but we had a different understanding (same goes for the people that were around us). After the wait at the restaurant you stop mid way up to see tue sunset (a spot open to everyone), nature is wonderful there. Then you drive up to 2k and and they let us out at another spot. Where the guide talked quite bit which was fairly interesting. TLDR: rent a car (approximately 50€ depending where you do so) and go there yourself, download (or even buy a decent one) a stargazing app which will help you figure out where is what and spend the rest of the money elsewhere, the island offers a lot of options.

Response from Host, Jul 2025

Thank you for your advice. This option will not work anymore. The government decided not allowing rented cars to drive through the national park anymore. This will take effect this year. It's to avoid people spoiling the area and not allowing organisations like ourselves to provide a great experience for people who are really interested in enjoying stragizing. Look at the positive reviews and see for yourself how great our experience is. Thank you

Amazing night sky

Mayra_S, Jul 2025
It started with an on-time pickup by our lively and friendly tour operator, Ozzy, then a lovely local lunch with roasted chicken, wrinkled potatoes (their specialty) with a small salad and various mojos, also a specialty. Then off to go up around 1400 meters in Teide National Park to watch the sunset above the clouds and take lovely pictures (extra charge). From there we went up to 2000 meters to get ready to star gaze. Lots of equipment set up was necessary, but they were organized and had a contact with a truck offering hot chocolate, beer, wine and snacks (extra charge) I would highly recommend a jacket or sweatshirt as the temps dropped. There was a very large group (the only issue I would have as it was a bit too large), so while one was star gazing, the other was taking a second set of pictures with the mikyway right behind, amazing! (Also extra charge). We learned quite a bit about the night sky, say shooting stars and even satellites moving around. It’s unbelievable how much is visible under such a dark sky. Would recommend.

Mediocre experience

Xiao_X, Mar 2025
Tour guide was nice/informative but overall experience was not worth the price of the tickets. We got the self driving tickets and followed behind. The drive up was pretty straightforward since there’s basically one road. We stopped at an open lot where they set up telescopes and everyone lined up to look at the planets. I found this to be pretty boring, but to each their own. Just wished there was more, since the only added value of the ticket was the telescope part (we could have driven up ourselves to go stargazing). I wish they included photos with the stars for free to make the tickets more worth it (instead of charging money). We went in early March and it was cold (40F with winds), so I would recommend bundling up and wearing gloves/scarf/hat.

Wonderful guide, dinner should not be part of the tour

Sophie_P, Mar 2025
On the positive note, Jean Marc, the astrology person was absolutely amazing! He knew so much and was explaining everything with a lot of enthusiasm! On the negative side ... The dinner ! I don't see the point of including this. It would just be better to start the tour 1h later. The food was not specially good. Also, as there was some wine at the dinner, some people were drunk and kept interrupting the guide which was very annoying. I'd suggest to organise this activity later and tour only. Get warm clothes!! You stay 1h-1h30 outside and it's like 5 degrees

Beautiful trip

Rachel_H, Feb 2025
It really is a wonderful trip. The tour guide Ozzi was very helpful and enthusiastic. We learned lots about the history of Tenerife, volcanoes and stars. The sunset was just beautiful and star gazing in such an unspoilt area was wonderful. Note: definitely wrap up warm! It’s much colder than you think. I have left 3 stars only because: - the meal was disappointing - they advertise vegan options but the restaurant didn’t seem to understand and my desert was a banana - there is a lot of upselling of official photos, prices starting at 40 euros.

Response from Host, Mar 2025

Thank you for your feedback. If you were disappointed with the food option for vegetarian, you could have mentioned this and we would be glad to handle your needs. The restaurant gave you a banana because the dessert has melk product in it and you are vegan. Please remember that it's a stargazing excursion and we are not there for a meal which is just an simple menu. It's an option and we encourage people with allergies, vegetarian or vegan to choose the the excursion without the meal option and people could bring their own food or snacks. Professional photos are not included, and we mention this very clearly and it's not about the photos as this is only and option. Many people love this as a nice reminder. The choice is to you and it's not upselling. Again we provide people with information only and everyone could make their own choices. Thank you

We love stargazing 🔭

Goliat_G, Feb 2025
We had a great time as Ozzy was a great guide. He was very knowledgeable and very funny 🤣 in his delivery! All staff were friendly and they made the whole experience worthwhile! I fully recommend it!

Do not recommend - It is a big commercial stunt to squeeze every cent out of you

Gideon_T, Feb 2025
Firstly, I would like to state that the guide Ozzi was a great guide who gave good information on astronomy and did well to manage a big group of about 80 people. The night sky in Teide was magical and it is definitely worth watching. However, I do not recommend to go with this tour as everything else about it spoils the experience of star gazing. Communication was not clear and those on the self drive option was not told where to meet after the initial meeting point. We were just told to follow the vehicle and we were lost on the way and took sometime before we found the group. However no one took notice of that and when we arrived we had to explain to them we were part of the tour. There was simply too many people on this tour. They have an astrophotography which is intended to squeeze as much money out of you as possible. The experience is simply spoilt by the sheer numbers in the tour and there was so much time spent just waiting around for others to have their photos taken. In conclusion, I would recommend for you to do star gazing anywhere in Teide national park yourself as the experience would be no different from joining the tour.

Enjoyable and value for money.

Kris_D, Feb 2025
Definitely need something warm. We went in January and it’s also 2000 metres up and it’ll was dark too obviously. Ozzi the guide is very knowledgable and also very funny. Very good at pointing out stars with his laser pen. If you’re a woman and needs the toilet often then you’ll struggle. No facilities up the mountain I’m afraid. There’s the odd bush if you’re a man though. There was a refreshment van which provided hot chocolate and chocolate bars etc. The refreshments aren’t part of the tour price though. Which was no problem.

Must do

Chris_S, Feb 2025
Overall experience was worth doing. Communication needs improving as texted to confirm pick up point, but took some effort/time to get a direct answer. I would not book the experience with food, looking back. Food was simply not great. A soup in summer was irrelevant as a first (personal opinion). Chicken was dry and 100% not cooked on that day. We took sunset and stargazing pictures. We liked and paid for them, but we thought they were pricey for what is - no particular editing, no prints. I would recommend for whoever is thinking about it, tge stargazing info was really interesting!

Phenomenal trip

Fiona_O, Jan 2025
Ozzi was our guide and Santi (sp!) with help from Nathan and others. Ozzi is a fantastic guide, extremely funny and very knowledgeable. He is very witty and had us all laughing. His knowledge of Tenerife its history and geography and nature including the dates of all the eruptions and other historical notes of interest is phenomenal. On top of all this he had to manage a large group of 50 tourists, which wasn't easy at times! We stopped for dinner in a roadside restaurant.... the dinner was ok, not gourmet but very organised and efficient. Allergies and vegetarian dishes catered for. We stopped for a while to see the fantastic sunset over La Gomera. Beautiful. Then a further drive up the mountains to the night sky. 5 large telescopes. Everyone got a look through and Ozzi made sure that people moved on to let others have a look. Unfortunately we didn't all get to see Saturn as it set behind the mountains quite quickly and people were getting annoyed as some people at the beginning of the queue took ages, but that settled down and everyone got a good share of the telescopes in the end, Ozzi made sure no one was hogging but didn't rush people at the same time. He had a powerful laser beam and pointed out interesting sights in the sky. We also had delicious homemade hot chocolate from an independent seller up there. We really enjoyed it, what a great way to spend the afternoon and evening. It's really cold so you need long pants and plenty of layers. Thanks to Ozzi and the gang!

Brilliant Tour!

Jason_N, Jan 2025
You cannot miss this tour. It is the highlight of any visit to Tenerife. Tour guide, driver, photographers, telescope team... all 100% top class. This is a tour worth every penny. Value for money. Food option can be good for some people, we didn't bother.

Differently have to go for anyone visiting Tenerifeerife!

Zanete_G, Jan 2025
Amazing experience with very good guide and all arrangements! Make sure to dress well as it can be very cold!

Beautiful views, lovely experience

Trip takes in a meal, sunset and stargazing. The views for the sunset and stargazing were amazing, enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide ensured the tour was enjoyable and interesting aswell as beautiful. Really amazing experience, chilly but guide provided ample warning this would be the case.
